July Goals
Total mileage tracked: 80
Apple Challenge: 18 workouts of 5 min or more.
@zichab I checked and @texasgardnr still hasn't signed in to MFP since May. I'm at a loss on what to do going forward. You and I are pretty much the only ones regularly checking in. Texasgardnr was the last leader that was being active. What do you think should we keep trudging along?
I rolled my ankle yesterday and I'm pretty sure its a minor sprain. So my July is starting off on a low note.
With the holiday this week, we pretty much shut down. I have 1 client scheduled for tomorrow and then its emergency calls until next week.0 -
July Goals: 15 minute/day workout: 3 miles a day on the Garmin!!!!
July 1: WAH: Happy Walk 1.0 miles Total Garmin Miles:
@deeder522- I am pretty sure something not good happened to Mary because she was on top of this each month even when she was not posting. I am game to keep going if you are. People pop in and out, but no one seems to stay more than a post or two and I am not sure why. Leslie is not as popular as she was, so maybe we need a new title? As usual, Under Armour has totally screwed up what was a great fitness site.
As long as the board is here, I'll probably post to it because it keeps me accountable and acts as a record of sorts. I am also back to tracking because I have to get this weight down, so I will be more regular now that Dennis is on the mend. Are there any other sites that have good tracking and socials?

July Goals: 15 minute/day workout: 3 miles a day on the Garmin!!!!
July 1: WAH: Happy Walk 1.0 mile: Total Garmin Miles: 3.8
July 2: WAH: Leslie Family Walk-15 minute mile: Total Garmin Miles:
Well, day 2 and I am still on track!!! I am trying to get all my work done before 2:30 and then come down here and do my workout and watch videos as a reward for doing my work. So far, it is working LOL!! I have forgotten how self-disciplined I used to be and I need to get back to that.
Dennis has measured the "track" from our kitchen to dining room to living room to foyer back to the kitchen as 61' and if he walks that "track" 86.5 times he will have gone a mile! This is what life is like living with an engineer!!!! He is going to be dizzy before he can do that loop 86.5 times and the floor will have a track in it from his walker. But, he insisted on measuring it! :ohwell:
I hope your ankle is feeling better. It is so hard to tell when you do that how long it will take to mend. I have done it hiking (I am a klutz who does not lift my feet up on trails) and it will be fine the next day, but then done it in my house and been laid up for a week. Ankles are tricky!
I'll be back tomorrow!

My ankle is improving, I was better able to navigate going down stairs than yesterday. I hope to be able to get a workout in by the weekend. Maybe I can concentrate on my arms and shoulders until then.
Ryan managed to go to a client with me today. 😄0 -
July Goals: 15 minute/day workout: 3 miles a day on the Garmin!!!!

July 3: WAH 1 Mile Express Walk: Miles: Total Garmin Miles
YEAH Ryan!!!!! You go DUDE!!!! It may not be forever, but it is great for today and we take all the wins we can get!!!
I am glad your ankle is mending @deeder522! Upper body is a good idea so you do not damage something that is already weak in your ankle.
I am on day 3 and counting which is hard to believe. Even my Garmin is not sure what to do with these one day log ins. Normally, it takes a few seconds for it to sync, but today it was almost instant. It was like "Is this all you got???" I am committed to 3 miles a day this month so I can up my workout time next month.
I have to take Dennis to PT since he can't drive and seeing everyone working out in there is inspiring. My goodness if people with hip replacements, knee replacements, rotator cuff injuries, etc can do it, I can sure can do it also!
Happy 4th if you are away tomorrow!!!

Enjoy your celebrations out there in MI! :bigsmile:0 -
I'm still resting the ankle but swell continues to decrease and I'm not taking Advil anymore.
A few calm days were needed but my body can feel it if I sit too much on the sofa.
I already ran my errands for the day and Ryan has 2 quick appointments this afternoon and they are both nearby. There has been talk of a friend stopping by to see him today as well. It's very exciting for us. 🤣
Tomorrow I have dinner with some friends but I think I may be able to do a light walking workout.0 -

Well, I had a little too much wine over the 4th so the 5th was a bust day! My neighbor ... bless her ... has wine glasses that are the size of vases and she keeps pouring! We all had a great time though so it was worth it!
BUT, since it is my own fault I lost yesterday, I need to catch up, so I am doing 2 workouts today! I already did the WAP one and that is an oldie!!! I actually have it because the second mile uses weights and it was one of my first weight workouts in 2012 when I started with Leslie. I do not recognize anyone on that video so it must have been a real early one. :ohwell: The second one I'll do later on when it gets a bit cooler. It's the beginner mile and I have never seen that one before, so I thought I'd try it. I need 4 miles today to make up my lost mile from yesterday.
Ryan must have a lot of friends who stop in being on the music industry right? I thought all those guys were tight and jammed together a lot. Of course, if they know about CFS, they may not want to tire him out though.
Enjoy your dinner and I hope your 4th was fun! :bigsmile:0 -

I know non-scale victories are best, but I am finally down 2.2 pounds!!!! Thank goodness the scale is finally moving!!! I hate logging, but it does work! :grumble:
I may need to make up tomorrow's walk on Tuesday. We are having a new flue installed in our downstairs chimney so we are in compliance with code to use our wood stove (they discovered the flue was not long enough for this stove when they cleaned it last fall :ohwell: ). However, they say it is an all day job and they will be here from 8AM-8PM! :noway: Since I work out in this room, I'll need to wait until they go and I am not sure how energetic I will be at 8 PM! If I do it, I'll post, if not, I'll be on Tuesday for sure with 2 workouts or maybe even a 2 mile workout.
My older son lives in Las Vegas and they are baking to death out there. Their pool is too hot to swim in! I cannot imagine that. Note to self: retirement in the north was a good idea! :bigsmile:1 -

Well, that ankle roll shows in my numbers. Mentally, it's been rough over here recently. Ry is struggling with forced focus for invoicing. I went back through most of the work to try to make it easier but its still a struggle. Which also means I'm struggling.
I hope to get some good endorphins going tomorrow and turn things around.0 -
I was able to do 1 mile with Leslie this morning. 😄0

Good afternoon. My June and July to date went off the rails. Between family birthdays and barbecues I have gained nearly all weight lost back. I am looking for accountability and would love to finish July out with this group if you’ll have me? I love Leslie.1
-
@lclark04957 Welcome! We're happy to have you! How do you work out with Leslie? Old school with the videos or new way with the App? I like the videos and YouTube.
My ankle is feeling my walk from yesterday morning. It's a little tender but that could also be from seeing the Chiropractor. I may have to stick to an arm workout later we'll see what the ankle says.
Today, a cousin of Ry's is supposed to stop over and look at the scope of the bathroom remodel we need. It's a complete gut job from the sub-floors up. Both of us are hoping that eliminating all the mold in that area will give Ry another health boost.0 -
@Deeder522 . Sorry to hear about your ankle. I broke mine a couple years ago that required surgery. I’m all good now but I can relate to your pain and lack of mobility. Take it easy and do what you can. There’s nothing wrong with doing just upper body. I believe anything is better than nothing.
Thanks for letting me participate. My Leslie is always YouTube with my favorite at the moment Heart Healthy 1 mile because it’s 20 minutes and lately that’s the only time I have free. My next favorite is Fast Walking in 30 minutes. Great total body workout.
Goal tonight is 1 mile.1 -
Sigh! Did not meet goal. I’m going to try again tonight after work. Aiming for 1 mile to at least get started and back on program. I fell off hard and I’ve been struggling to get my mind right. I know what I need to do. I just can’t seem to find the motivation. This heat and humidity is knocking me down.0
-
Keep on trying, @lclark04957 . I haven't made it to my workout yet and the heat/humidity is on rise here too. We can keep trying together!
I'm in SW Michigan. Where are you located?0 -
@Deeder522 . I will keep trying. I have tomorrow off so will knock it out first thing. I live in central Maine. Summers are short so I’m ok with the heat. It’s the humidity that’s brutal. It’s supposed to break tomorrow. 🤞1
-
Leslie heart healthy 1 mile done. Hopefully it is the first day of a trend. I feel so much better when I do, and I make healthier eating choices too. Have a great Friday everyone.1
-
I did a mile with Improved Health this morning. Some of the moves were a little challenging as far as movement but I made it through the video.
My Dad went to Costco today and I'm reloaded on chicken bites, black pepper, pecans, and beef sticks. I didn't ask for the beef sticks but they'll be a better snack than chips or other carbs.0 -
@Deeder522 . Good to hear about improved health. Beef sticks sound yummy and will help curb that salty craving. 😃0

Well that was a dreadful week! :grumble: The Chimney guys never showed up and I waited most of the day before they called and said a guy called in sick and they would reschedule! Lovely!!! :ohwell: Since I was waiting for them, I got into my stack of books and between Dennis' appointments and sheer laziness, I read instead of working out! :explode: I know it is nothing compared to Ryan's focus issues-bless him. I also know how hard it is to maintain patience day after day @deeder522. It is a struggle for sure.
Oh gosh, @Deeder522, if you have mold in the bathroom, getting rid of it may help Ryan a lot. We had mold in our bathroom here before the remodel. It was not the really bad mold nor was it extensive, but it was enough that we noticed the strange smell in our house disappeared when it was all removed and abated. It is nasty stuff and I know many people get very sick from it!
Welcome @lclark04957! We are glad to have you and I am also trying to get rid of some gained back pounds. I know my week does not look like I am working all that hard at it exactly, but I spent most of it in the truck or reading. I did log food everyday though, so if weight is lost in the kitchen, I should be OK. I am in upstate NY, the Adirondacks to be exact, and it is extremely humid up here also. We have a dehumidifier and that has helped, but it is still HHH!!!! I am anxious for September now!
I think I am going to stick with the 2 Mile walk for the next few days and see how it goes. My fitness has improved enough that I think I can do it. We shall see!

I was able to manage another Improved Health workout this morning. It felt a little too intensive for my ankle as I got into it but a little modification helped.
We were issued an Air Quality alert today. The heat and humidity are here for a few more days. Hopefully, it should break sometime next week.
We are looking at mid to late September for the remodel. The sub-floor has blackish mold from years of water damage from the family that owned the house before my family did. The mold has crept into the paint above the shower tile and the grout. I do my best to attack it and have to do a "bleach bomb"every few months. The remodel should have happened years ago but that's a whole different story. 😉
I'm hoping with Amon Prime days next week to pick up some bathroom remodel accessories.
@zichab, Maybe we can count reading as mental Exercise depending on the type of book. 🤣
@lclark04957 Good job getting that 1 mile in again. You're starting to roll!0 -
Hello @zichab. I am familiar with upstate NY. I grew up in Massena, NY about 10 minutes from Cornwall Ontario. I miss it sometimes. A beautiful state, especially the Adirondacks.0
-
HH 1 mile ✅ and I threw in a 10 Minute Toned Arms Beginner (Fabulous50s on YouTube) snce it had been a while. Fabulous50s has all kinds of other workouts, low impact, if you’re looking for a change. She is similar to Leslie. Not a lot of jumping and no weights available. Have a great Sunday everyone!! Another bday party with bad food choices, cake and ice cream. I’m going to try and be strong with the eating.1

June 14: WAH: 2 Mile Walk: Miles: Total Garmin Miles:
I must say this 2 mile walk is upping my fitness. I am going to keep doing this one until I can do all the moves, including the lunges, without collapsing on the floor. It's a newish floor and I would not want to crack it
I do love your idea of Reading Exercise @deeder577! I just finished Dark Age Ahead by Jane Jacobs and am starting Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fate of Human Societies by Jared Dimond. Jacobs' book was not a lot of exercise, kind of small and light, but Diamond's book, so far, is a bit dense. The book is big and heavy as well, so that should count as a strength workout right? :blushing:
Bathrooms are expensive remodels @deeder577 and we do tend to put them off because of that. I have 1 more to do and even though Dennis does all the tiling and installs the vents, sheet rock walls etc, we still need a plumber to do all the plumbing parts and that is costly, even up here. We let the mold go upstairs longer than we should have, but we were not here all the time so it was kind of "out of sight out of mind." Concrobium does a good job of killing it also. The downstairs bath does not have a window, but we do not have mold either and I think it is because we have both a shower vent and a dryer vent as the washer and dryer are currently in that bathroom. When we remodel, I am moving them out, but it is common in the Adirondacks to have the laundry in the second bathroom as most of these homes were either camps or second homes at one time. Make sure your new bath has good vents to prevent any future problem.
We have not gotten an air quality alert yet, but they are saying when the jet stream changes midweek, we may get smoke from the Canadian wildfires that are burning again. No doubt it will end up in Maine as well so be ready @lclark04957! It usually hits @deeder577 first, them me so we'll give you lots of warning.
I was just in Messena 2 weeks ago @lclark04957! We went to the Eisenhower lock for the day and it is all fancy now! They have a visitors center with exhibits, platforms and everything. I had not been there since we took our sons in the mid 80s. It was a busy day for ships as well, which made it well worth the trip. We live in Tupper Lake, just a couple of hours south of Messena.
i opened up the house last night and got it down to 73 and then closed it back up and turned on the dehumidifier. So far, it has stayed cool in here and if I can keep it that way, I will be back with a workout tomorrow! Stay cool ladies and eat ice cream at the Birthday parties! It has calcium which is good for your bones! We ladies have to take care of our bones right?

@zichab nice job on 2 miles. I’ve tried to up my workout but can’t get past the time needed and talk myself out of it. Maybe by fall I’ll be in better shape.
HH 1 mile done this morning. Too hot to do any extras. What little energy I have left is for weed whacking and swatting the blasted, relentless deer flies!!! Have a great Monday everyone.0 -
July Goals
Total mileage tracked: 33 / 80
Apple Challenge: 18 workouts of 5 min or more. 4 / 18
Saturday night I got 2, maybe, 3 hours of sleep, so Sunday was a mandatory rest day since I became a toddler who needed a nap all day. 🤣
Oh man, I hadn't heard about the Canada wildfires yet. We kept the plastic on the windows up this year anticipating they would return. I'll have to check what that timeline looks like for us and make sure none of the tapes on the windows popped loose.
We had a storm move through last night, no damage, and we have power.
I did a 15-minute walk with improved health again this morning. I'm still working on getting my stamina back up so I can push to 2 miles again.1 -

Could not handle the 2 mile today, so went for 1 mile instead. I need to walk to the mailbox, so I should end up getting my 3 miles for today. It's HHH though!!! I may ntake my air conditioned truck. I'm BAD! :blushing:
The deer flies are unmerciful this year and they are more aggressive than in years past. Everyone up here is talking about it. People say it is rough being out on the lake because they dive-bomb you in the boat or in the water. Our neighbors went out for 15 minutes and came back with bites everywhere. Smack them silly @lclark04957!
Accuweather has a map @Deeder522 that shows the smoke, but they do not know if it will stay high or drop down as it depends on "atmospheric conditions" later in the week. But it is clearly aiming for MI by the end of the week, so you have some time to check your windows.
Stay cool! :bigsmile:1 -

Not sure what happened to the smoke map. Maybe it is going to stay high in the atmosphere and go bother Europe instead! I am patiently waiting for my big cool down though as temps are supposed to drop 20+ degrees, which for us means back to the upper 60s and low 70s! I'll take it for sure!!!
I made my 2 mile walk today so I feel pretty good. Dennis and I are working on our guest room and I am hoping to get more steps as my job is to "fetch and carry!"
Stay cool you two-the heat is almost over! :bigsmile:2
