That is really a good price. I've seen very short stories with even less pages than that for $.99. If I'm waffling over buying a book I look at the page count and if the cost is at or less than a penny a page then I feel better about buying it.

I'm more than half-way through with the third book in a fantasy that I'm reading. I finished the Mary Alford story in the two story LIS I bought. I haven't started the second one. The Mary Alford one was very good, non-stop suspense and a crazy murderer too.

I always like Mary Alford books, and you know me and Love Inspired Suspense.

I just finished TRAIL OF THREATS by Jessica Patch (LIS). One of the better ones I have read recently.

Current - TWO SECONDS TOO LATE by Dani Pettrey - very good.

I also listened to a few more Jennifer Youngblood books.

Kim- I am reading THE CURIOUS INHERITANCE OF BLAKELY HOUSE by Joanna Davidson Politano. This has tones of steampunk and it is so good. I found it on libby in audio and ebook, but didn't see on hoopla. It's a new release, though. I think you would enjoy the historical, mystery, maybe some romance, and some "fanciful" creations.

That definitely sounds like something in my wheelhouse. I do like steampunk! Well, I found it on Libby but because my library doesn't have it I set it up for them to notify me. They don't have much so I'm hoping it will be on Hoopla soon.

I finished the third book in the fantasy series and just downloaded book 4 from KU, so will start that tonight. I'm working on two other fantasies as well as my missionary re-read about Adoniram Judson.

I really enjoyed THE CURIOUS INHERITANCE OF BLAKELY HOUSE by Joanna Davidson. It is definitely a 5* read for me. It isn't really fantasy - it's things that might happen, but definite tones of steampunk…they use water power for everything, and the man that owned the house built automatons, but didn't finish a lot of them. There are small ones that are around the house. The female MC is a clockmaker, so the house and it's non-human "inhabitants" intrigues her.

Current: I don't understand why sometimes it just copies and pasted the words, and sometimes the lines…and messes with the font sizes. It isn't easy getting the "table" off it is pastes, so it stays today.

I just found the 2025 Carol Award finalists. I will put the list in the proper thread, but, WOW - I have hardly read any of them. That's really unusual for me. A lot of them were independently published, too…very unusual.

Currently I am reading Shanna Hatfield books. I am listening to some and some I already had on my kindle to finish out series, etc. They are pretty good, but do have a bit of steam.

I found two that I'd read. I responded on that thread.

I'm almost done re-listening to ROWLAND BINGHAM missionary bio. Very good again.

I am also almost done with listening to SKY OF SEVEN COLORS which has been quite strange but suspenseful as well. A girl is taken from our earth full of color and brought to an earth with almost no color by a brother/sister giant pair. They tell her that she is going to marry their king so that the giants can get their long sleep period to rejuvenate them. I know, weird! She is in love with a guy back home and he is dying from an accident just before she was snatched and she is told that the man she is to marry can heal him - this is the only reason she goes along with all of this nonsense! Some surprises near the ending, but I still hold out hope that she will be able to be with her love again!

I started TIDES OF TIME by Sarah Eden last night (also a listen) and so far it's been power packed! There is a time-travel type thing happening, but not by a ton of years. The woman is fleeing from imprisonment in France and she is tossed from her ship in a storm and ends up a couple of decades later on the English shore.

WROUGHT OF SAPPHIRE AND SEA is the fourth book in a fantasy series I am really enjoying. It does have a Christian bent to it, but just mentions here and there.

I finished SNAPDRAGON in the multi-author flower fairy tale re-tellings, Sarah Beran wrote this one. It was very good. FORGET-ME-NOT by J F Rogers So far so good.

COURTING DANGER by Laura Ashwood is one of those Pinkerton Brides stories. She has to marry a male agent for her first case, then she can get an annulment if she wants to.

I finished CALLISTA AND THE ELF by Anabelle Raven, a seven book series that I got all the way through! This was the final book and I enjoyed the entire fantasy series.

The second book in AMISH COUNTRY HIDEOUT is SEEKING AMISH SHELTER by Alison Stone. I just started this one too.

I'm kind of struggling with books right now. I can't sleep at night, but keep nodding off when I am trying to listen to something. Right now, I have a boxed set of Tracie Peterson Midieval Romances that I may have listened to for 20 minutes and Suzanne Woods Fisher's newest book about a photographer that is tryi.g to photograph wildlife in the Tetons. She's learning that being a zoo photographer and an actual photographer in the wild are two different things.

I have the Suzanne Woods Fisher one on my wish list. Neither my Hoopla or library have it…yet! Years ago I read and had a Tracie Peterson Medieval series. I have THE KNIGHTS BRIDE, a compellation with different authors had one of them and ALAS MY LOVE was the second story where two brothers are at odds over the death of their parents, one believes the other is guilty. In the first one the new wife convinces her husband to let his brother return so they can find the true killer. Alas My Love is the story after the brother returns. They were some of my favorites for a long time. IF ONLY I think is the first story in the three and it's about a woman who is a healer but they call her a witch and she is arrested and tried and not needs to be saved! So those sound like anything you are reading??? LOL!

Still working on all the same ones. Read more in the WROUGHT OF SAPPHIRE AND SEA.

The ones I have are here. I haven't gotten to If Only…In the listing of her books that I have, it looks like it should come second, but here it is the 3rd. I really don't enjoy medieval books, but I do like Tracie Peterson, so I decided to give them a try. The 5 at the side, is just the month read…not my rating.

The two stories that go with Alas My Love, which is probably A Kingdom Divided, are very good and suspenseful.

Read some more in DANIEL'S OIL which is the second book in the Sherriff Angus Reid series. So far it's very good, except their description of the corpse found in a barrel! Ick! Although the coroner (a lady) did make some funny remarks about I - perhaps as a way to cope with the ick factor!

Finished my missionary bio and don't have any more borrows on Hoopla so I am going to work on a book we got from the thrift store - ALL THE PARABLES IN THE BIBLE. We also found ALL THE WOMEN IN THE BIBLE. These are by Herbert Lockyear. These are like new condition too. I like this thrift store too, they give away Bibles, no matter the condition, no matter the type (leather, hardback, etc). We have quite a few so don't look through those. These books are often just $.25-$1.00. They hire guys and gals who have just gotten out of jail or are going through a drug program working to get clean. They also have a prayer time at the front of the store where all the employees gather and any patron who would like to.

Still working on my fantasy reads. I just got an ARC for a Goose Girl retell, part of a multi-author series called All That Glitters!

I enjoyed the medieval series. I was rather surprised.

    I finished:
CAPTURE THE MOMENT by Suzanne Woods Fisher. It was so good! Definite 5* read.
UNEXPECTED GRACE by Tracie Peterson and Kimberley Woodhouse (very good…newest book)
SINCE THE DAY WE LEFT by Kerk Murray - just an easy romance

I started listening to the Wind River Legacy series by Lacy Williams. I have finished THE HOMESTEADER’S SWEETHEART and am about half way through ROPING THE WRANGLER . (That is leaving out book #2 which I had previously read). I am enjoying them for light and easy reads.

I am reading the prequel to the Jonathon Island series that I read book #1 earlier in the month. MEET ME ON JONATHON ISLAND by Susan May Warren. I am enjoying this one, but this is in a collaboration series.

Neither my library nor my Hoopla have Capture the Moment - boohoo! I'll just keep waiting, Hoopla should have it soon.

I started an ARC last night by Lea Doue, THE GOLDEN GOOSE. It's really cute. I feel like a youngster staring up at the reading waiting for the next line.

I also started ADOPTED BY FAITH by Sarah Miller and Irene Glick. So far it's pretty good.

I had started a fantasy by an author I had just read, Christian fiction, but it had a cuss word in it - how disappointing.

Still working on COURTING DANGER by Laura Ashwood. It's similar to the others I've read in this genre so having trouble staying into it.

I have really gotten into this Lacy Williams series (Wind River Legacy). It has 14 books in it. I am currently reading #6. I have #7, checked out from the library and have the rest available through audible plus library. They are virtual voice, but that's okay.

I am also reading the new suspense anthology Danger in The Shadows. I have read the first two and am working on #3

HIDDEN HEART - just okay. Nothing to brag aboutRoxanne Rustand
HAUNTING OF THE HIGH ONE- Very good. 5* read - Alaska mountain climbing Denali (the High One)Kimberley Woodhouse
UNDERCOVER MIAMI - current, but good.Terry Toler

DANGER IN THE SHADOWS has some authors I really like so I borrowed it through KU. I thought it might be an anthology that I had pre-ordered, but that one is DON'T BLINK, I think it has 12 stories; it won't be out until Oct.

I finished DANIEL'S OIL by that author who has a different kind of name. It was pretty good but a little bit creepy. What bothers me most about these stories is how quickly the "Christians" in the story lie, become ugly angry, etc… They feel bad for a moment and then go on with their own plan rather than trusting God and doing what's right! If they had done what's right from the beginning they would have had a solution much sooner! I don't think I'll go on with this series. I do have one of the stories farther on and may read that one, we'll see.

Connie, I love that Lacy Williams series (Wind River Legacy). I think I've read 10 or 11 of them. Somehow I never finished - I should do that.

I started the Devotions my Corrie Ten Boom. I listened through five of them, they were very good! Just simple devotions that spoke of living a godly life.

I read some more in my ARC read which is actually THE GOLDEN GOOSE. It's just a really fun story.

I am enjoying the Danger in the Shadows anthology. So far, the best has been the Kimberley Woodhouse book. I just finished PROM NIGHT HITCHHIKER by Cynthia Hickey. It seemed a bit "creepy", but not really. Not really intense, and pretty good.

I am currently listening to THE COWBOY’S HONOR #9 in the Wind River Legacy series. I am hoping to finish this series and the anthology in May, but we will see.

I am really enjoying the Corrie Ten Boom devotionals. I listen to four or five of them before getting into the fiction. I am almost finished with one of the fantasies RAPUNZEL'S GAMBIT by Mary Meachem; and my ARC read by Lea D'oue, GOLDEN GOOSE. I'm really enjoying this one too. I need to get back to a couple I set aside to get into the ARC read.

I'm reading the Wagon Train Matches series by Lacy Williams. So far I've read the first 3 books: A Trail So Lonesome, Trail of Secrets and A Trail Unnamed. I just downloaded and started book 4: Wild Heart's Haven.

Some of these are familiar to me, but not all of them. I must've started and not finished this series at some point.

ETA: I finished Wild Heart's Haven and started book 5: A Rugged Beauty.

My college roommate just finished the Wagon Trade series and really enjoyed it. I may do it soon, as well. I am on book 12 of this series. I previously read #14, so just one more.

I finished GOLDEN GOOSE a really fun and easy read.

I need to get back to TIDES OF TIME by Sarah Eden - my borrow ends on Monday, I may have to re-borrow it!

I started the first book in DANGER IN THE SHADOWS anthology. I'm only a few pages in so can't tell about it yet.

Read a little bit more in ADOPTED BY FAITH but not really into this story.

I also finished the Pinkerton story I was reading, but can't remember the title, I believe it was Laura Lockwood who wrote it. It was pretty good but similar to other Pinkerton stories I've read.

Just finishing BESIDE THE ROLLING WAVES by Jessie Gussman. This is her newest, #7 in the Raspberry Ridge series. I always enjoy her books.

I also finished out the Wind River Legacy series. In a few minutes, I will get started back on the Danger In The Shadows anthology. I am currently reading NEVER A HOSTAGE by Jan Thompson. The best has still been the Kimberley Woodhouse book, but I am enjoying all of them.

Read some more in the DANGER IN THE SHADOWS anthology. Still on the first one by Roxanne Rustad (not sure about that last name, but it's close).

Listened some more in my Corrie Ten Boom devotionals, so good!

Moved around with a couple of fantasies, not getting into them.

I am currently between books 7 and 8 in the Danger In The Shadows Anthology. I'm sure I won't get it finished today, so some will carry into June. I have a little to go on HUNTED ON THE TRAIL (LIS) by Dana Mentink. I may just finish it and close out the May books.

I am listening to WHERE TREES TOUCH THE SKY by Karen Barnett. It is a dual timeline about the Redwoods and it's early days as a national park. I thought I had gone to the national park when I was in my teens, but it must have been state parks at that time. Bill and I went to the Redwoods after we were married, because his brother lived close by, but I think that was a state park, too. It's very good.

I am also reading Jan Thompson's HIS MORNING KISS. WHOA, this one may take a day or two or three! 709 pages! The book before it wasn't that long and I didn't realize how long this one was when I checked where I was a few minutes ago and it was only 28%.

I am reading PEACE CHILD, wow! This is about a missionary couple going into head hunter country to share Christ with them, but they had no concept of who Christ was, let alone about His death and resurrection. The glory in evil and murder. When the missionary is ready to leave because he's brought warring tribes in close contact with each other and anger and dissention are growing and he just knew someone or many someone's were going to die. They begged him not to leave and held a Peace Child ceremony. Each tribe trades one of their children to be raised by the other tribe. He/she takes that tribes name and the parent who made the trade does the same - this says they are alike. This act in the book was so moving.

I also downloaded through Hoopla Elizabeth Elliot's book NO GRAVEN IMAGE. This is the only novel that she wrote. It's about a missionary woman in Peru. I'll start it tonight.

I'm reading three ARC books. One is out today, but it's hard for me to read because the Christians in it are so minimal it just makes me upset! One of the Christians works in a saloon offering drinks to people - arghhh! The main character has found the Lord and wants to go to the town that she really hurt in her godless life and make restitution, even if it will cost her her life. Everyone is telling her not to go, you could die! She is trying to obey God - leave her alone. He can take care of her! That's all in the first three of four chapters. I honestly don't think I can finish reading it, but I feel a bit guilty because I said I was willing to read it. I guess I could leave a review explaining why I can't finish. The other two are fantasies, very good.

I really loved WHERE TREES TOUCH THE SKY! Rated at 5+*, but I love the Redwoods, so location could play a part.

I did finish the looong book by Jan Thompson. I enjoyed it, but it was soooo long.

I am almost done with STANDING WATCH by Terri Reed. This is a LIS and set in the area around Mt Rushmore - another favorite vacation area of ours.

Bill and I went through South Dakota several times on our way to Colorado. Our favorite campground was close by. I sure would love to be able to "road-trip" again. The travel itself would be okay, but hotels would be very difficult with Bill.
