😀 I picked enough tomatoes yesterday to have some in my lunch and give a snack size baggie of them to my dog walking friend. So far, all the ripe tomatoes are at the bottom of the plant close to the stem so there is a lot of bending and stretching involved in finding and picking them.
😀 I cleared off one more bookshelf which resulted in my having books to add to the charity shop contribution and books to mail to others through Paperback Swap so yesterday was errand day—-charity shop, post office, and library. Annie loves errand day because she gets a small treat each time I get out of the car and each time I get back in.
😀 Other items that went to the charity shop in addition to the books were a heating pad (Jake bought it and used it once and I've never used it, so I figured I could do without it and if I ever needed one, I could buy one or borrow one from a friend) and some green drinking glasses that I bought in 1968 in Okinawa because they were pretty and were made from recycled Coke bottles. I never drink out them but felt sentimental about them because I'd had them so long.
😀 I would be taking my shower now, but Annie is asleep on my feet and I don't want to disturb her.

Happy Thursday! Going to a wake of the son of an Al Anon member this afternoon. It's over an hour away but his father has been in the program with me as long as I have and is always supportive of everyone. His wife has dementia so this will be hard on him although his faith keeps him strong. There are a few of us going so we will miss our meeting but we really want to be there for him.
I have a lot going on as usual with a back injection tomorrow, going to see Herb Albert Saturday night, kids spending the day and night Sunday so their parent can go to a celebration of life during the afternoon and a date night in the evening. My calendar is so full it is amazing but I do like keeping busy most of the time.
Barbie, I wish I could get the ambition to purge everything in my house. When I think about it I get tired. lol Good for you on a job well done.
Enjoy your day.

Hello. Rain, rain, and more rain. Some areas have received over 6 inches. Too wet for me to check my rain gauge. I watched the State Fair Parade last evening. That’s the first time I have watched it in years. I especially loved the dancing horses. The TV hosts had to add, the horses are always at the end of the parade due to the difficulty of cleaning up the parade route for all of the dance teams and bands. 🤦🏼♀️
Yesterday I texted with a friend. She got her biopsy results back and she does have bladder cancer and it is also in the ureters. Her doctor got her an appointment with a specialist at our best hospital a couple of hours away. She is very upset and who wouldn’t be. She has several family members who will help her through this. One has a medical background and listens carefully to everything.
Later I talked to a friend who I hadn’t spoken with for months. Must be something wrong with me, I was chaffing as she continually talked about herself. I don’t think I ever felt it so acutely.Otherwise, it was just normal daily activities.
Barbie, congrats on the tomato harvest and your continuing successful sorting out of possessions.
Sandy, welcome home. Wow, upcoming weddings. More busy times ahead.
Jackie, hello to you and George. I watched a bit of a Live Cricket match. That was something new for me. Kind of interestingTime to move along.

Gosh, another Friday! The weeks are flying by. Yesterday was a bit fraught for me because George had an appointment with the vet to look at a cyst that had burst on his shoulder. I had been washing the area with a saline solution but it had become inflamed and painful. Our usual vet wasn’t there but a very nice lady introduced herself to us both before trimming hair from the area. It looks a lot worse now it’s uncovered but she has prescribed antibiotics and an anti inflammatory pill and already this morning he appears more comfortable and he didn’t react when I cleaned it this morning. Of course it cost a small fortune but I do put money in a mental pot for such emergencies and it is what it is. We will return next Thursday to discuss possible future surgery.
We have had our morning stroll on the moors and once I have finished my coffee I will do my best to finish sorting my bedroom so I can sleep in my own bed again. Also get back to my garden as our weather improves.
Sandy, your group is so supportive of others and I hope the wake wasn’t too upsetting. I’m with you when it comes to prioritising meetings, after all it’s generally a very small amount of time in our lives and hopefully it gives some comfort. When I was travelling across America in 1972 with a girlfriend we spent a couple of days in Las Vegas and saw Herb Albert and his band’s show in one of the casinos! I hope he’s as enjoyable as he was back then, and as good looking! 😁
Lin, Hopefully your rain has eased. You got your roof repair just in time didn’t you! Some people get so caught up in their own lives I imagine it was annoying if you had just heard about your friend’s cancer diagnosis. There but for the grace of God is always my first thought. International Cricket can be very exciting. I know the rules but not the funnily named areas on the field. Silly Mid-On is my favourite. It’s something to do with the fielder standing so close to the batsman he is likely to get hurt if hit by the ball.
Have a pleasant and safe Friday.
Jackie 🥰

Happy Friday. I am without A/C since yesterday. Once home from wake I called my landlord who tried to get a service person but they couldn't come until today. BTW, I am now talking about my landlord's son who is taking over for his father. He came right over with a portable A/C for my bedroom so at least that room is cool. His father called later and came to check things out but his son knew what he was doing. I have an appointment at 1:30 today for a back injection so they want me to text them when I am home so a guy can come and check things out. I still haven't signed a new lease either.
Jackie, poor George, I do hope he heals quickly and doesn't need surgery. Yes, our group is very close and we support each other as much as possible.
Lin, we haven't had your rain, just more heat. I have fans blowing on me to keep me cool. Sorry about your friend, there are a lot of egotist people out there.
Have a cool day.

Hello, a beastly hot day with plenty of sunshine. We may see additional rain tomorrow and/or Sunday.
Sandy, I did not see a post from you yesterday and I checked twice. How odd it is there today, I wasn’t trying to ignore you. It was good of you to attend the wake yesterday. I do hope you have a good time seeing Herb Alpert. Great musician. And the kids spending time with you. Movie and McDonalds? You are incredibly busy. Be happy my friend.
Jackie, oh no, poor Georgie. I hope the medicine helps and no surgery is needed. Will you see your regular vet when you go back? Couldn’t find any Cricket today—-Pickleball and women’s soccer later. I didn’t realize there were wacky names used in Cricket. I watched more than I listened.
I did a number of Zoom classes today. There aren’t many options tomorrow.
I got a stack of mail a little while ago. That gives me more to do! I was having some printer problems today and it is working better but one function still won’t work and it says I don’t have administrator access and cannot change what needs to be tweaked. 🙁
Barbie, I hope you and Annie have a good weekend.Be safe everyone.

Happy Saturday! A/C is fixed and all is good. Landlord just has to come an remove his portable A/C from my bedroom. Hoping to go to pool for a couple of hours before getting ready to see Herb Albert. We are going to dinner first and since it is in downtown Chicago we are leaving at 4pm. Tomorrow the kids are coming at 11 to spend the night so I am taking them to the movie theater in the afternoon. I get rewards with my Xfinity account and they offer buy one movie and get one free so I took advantage of it so they kids could see Bad Guys 2. An animation movie that I watched the first one with them the last time they were here. Mom is picking Robby up early Monday for an orthodontist appointment but I will keep the younger ones and bring them home later in the day.
Lin, it must be magic with my post. lol Sorry about your printer problems hope there is a way to fix it.
Time to eat and get ready for family zoom call. Have a good day.

😀 I went to Costco this morning at the same time I've been going on Saturdays for years and found out that they have changed their hours. The last time I went was in May so I didn't know about the change that began June 30, When I headed into the store the man at the door told me that only Executive members could come in that early and I'd have to wait another 20 minutes. He said that if was an emergency like the pharmacy, I could go in right away, but telling the truth is one of my important values so I sat patiently by the door. Apparently he took pity on me and let me come in cautioning me that I should wait until after the regular opening time to get in line to check out. I was so grateful for his kindness. I don't like leaving Annie in the car for too long in that busy parking lot. I got everything on my list and nothing that I hadn't planned. Annie is taking her nap on the back of the couch now.
😀 Sandy, glad there was a speedy solution to your air conditioning challenge. It isn't nearly as hot here as where you are, but I know how awful it would be to be without A/C on the warm days.
😀 Jackie, Poor George. Sorry to hear about him. I hope it will be only meds and no surgery.
😀 Lin, I hate getting mail that requires me to do something. I get my mail from the box only on weekday mornings so If I have to contact someone, I have business hours ahead to do it.
😥 No ripe tomatoes the last two days but lots of green ones, so I expect that one day soon, I'll have enough for me and all my neighbours.
🦕 Annie has already opened her new toy from yesterday and pulled out all three squeakers.

Hello everyone. It has been a busy Saturday. Lots of laundry washed and hung out to dry in the sunshine then George and I headed for the hills. It was quite busy but I managed to find a quiet route that visitors wouldn’t discover and we were able to see the new lambs and a few horses with their foals. I managed to get several jobs completed around the property and also sort items to go to either a charity or the tip. Our temperatures are rising and tonight we also have a special moon to admire. I think in America it is called the Sturgeon moon! As I typed I was aware the moon is shining through my window so I stepped outside to admire it!
George is being very good taking his meds wrapped in pieces of pate and the area on his shoulder is already looking less angry.
More gardening tomorrow as I make the most of our dry, warm spell.
I must get to bed.Jackie 🥰

Hello, another hot day with some morning rain but not the storms that went through other potions of our state. There’s a possibility of more storms around midnight. A regular day, Zoom classes, laundry, put in a very small grocery order for delivery tomorrow, and after picking up my mail, I pulled weeds. I had sprayed some weeds with strong vinegar a few days ago and I thought I would re-spray today but the strong sun and heat apparently combined to kill a number of them. I will check on them tomorrow and maybe I will spray them again.
Jackie, a very busy day for you. I am very happy to hear George is doing better. Keep on taking your medicine dear George. I hope you are sleeping well.
Barbie, I do have mail that cannot be tended to until the banks open on Monday. Receiving a refund is a pleasant surprise and so I won’t mind that too much. Costco sent an update that said an extra fee of $10 per year was necessary now for early entry, otherwise do not show up until later time. They were enforcing it strictly when I was there to pick up my glasses. I don’t go often so I doubt I will pay the additional fee.
Sandy, busy, busy, busy but oh what fun!! And no, I cannot fix the final problem but I can manage without it. The printer is quite bad now as the remaining useful life is likely relatively short.
I read a bit today. A very old book that I borrowed online. I am so disappointed that online libraries have an extremely limited selection to loan out. I thought that online libraries would open up an entire world of books from the ancient to the newest. It is nothing like my dreams.
Oh, and the city mayor was at my house today. He is looking to be re-elected so he is out trying to meet people as he walks about the neighborhoods. I doubt the first Saturday of the State Fair found many people at home. When my doorbell rang, I had no idea who would be there but I thought perhaps the mail man was dropping off a little package that was to be delivered today.
Well, that was a big surprise.
Be safe and happy my friends.

Happy Sunday! Herb Albert was great! We had seats way up but one seat one on one side of the staircase and the other two were on the other. Cheryl went down to complain but did it nicely and they comped us to orchestra seats second row. Amazing seats and wonderful show. We had dinner first at a very nice restaurant so it was a perfect night.
There has been a change in plans and I am picking the kids up at 12:30 instead of parents bringing them at 11:00. We should have a fun day with the movie and Mc Donald's. Maybe they will even want to swim.
Lin, impressive that the mayor personally is soliciting his own votes. Clever idea for the weeds.
Jackie, glad to hear there is improvement with George and that he is being a good boy taking his meds.
Barbie, I do not have a Costco membership as I don't buy in bulk. It was really nice of that man to let you in early, always good to hear about nice people.
Have a good day everyone.

Good afternoon. And yes, we had more rain overnight and they think it will return again for another overnight shower. Then the forecast is for sunny hot and dry days for most of the week. I hope my scheduled appointment can go as scheduled. I would like to have my driveway and sidewalk fixed.
Sandy, I am glad you got moved to great seats and that you did enjoy both the dinner and the concert. What movie are you watching today?
Our swimming pools are closing for the season this week. It seems so incredibly early. When I was a kid we didn’t go back to school until after Labor Day and the public pools(s) didn’t close until then. More adults apparently were available to work at pools and parks.
Hi Jackie and Barbie. Hope you are having a good day.

😀 My Costco membership was created by Jake who loved all the "bargains". There may have been a time when we actually saved enough money to justify the cost of the membership. I couldn't convince him that it wasn't a bargain so I finally reframed it as "recreation". Now that I'm alone and hardly driving, I know that the cost of the membership isn't offset by savings but I have cash back credit card to use at Costco so I get some money back there and there are a few products that I can buy in bulk. Their gas station is the easiest one in town to get in and out so that's a plus for me even though I buy gas only every other month. The Costco membership level that wil allow me to get in earlier would cost twice what my current membership costs now. And, as a last consideration, I don't want to deal with what it will take to cancel the membership and the credit card.
😀 My biggest reason for going to Costco early is leaving Annie in the car. The parking lot is not so full earlier and it's cooler.
😀 Sandy, how great to get moved to better seats.
😀 Lin, My local library has an amazing collection of online books and I am grateful for that. I'm sure it varies from place to place. My other sources of books are paperback swap and ebay. I don't buy books at full price. With new books, I'm willing to wait weeks or months in line to get them from the library.
😀 Jackie, I have been watching "Escape to the Country" and think of you especially when they are in your part of the country. The episode I watched yesterday was about a couple with three dogs who were more concerned about the yard and environs for the dogs than they were about the house for themselves. You and George have such wonderful places to walk.
😀 It was extra hot yesterday but even so, the tomatoes haven't been turning red. There Is one pumpkin on a vine and I have hopes for more. It was so warm that we cut our afternoon walk short and came home to the air conditioning. We'll get out early this morning for a longer walk before it gets too hot.

Happy Monday! I picked up the kids at 12:30, came home to put their stuff away then went to the movie which was very cute. I took them to Mc Donald's and after we got home I let them play on their devices for an hour before watching another movie which also was cute. They were all well behaved and two are still sleeping. Mom came and picked up Robby for his orthodontist appointment and I will bring the other two home this afternoon. Hopefully, we can go to the pool for a little while.
Have a good day and stay cool.

Hello all, I haven’t stopped by for quite awhile. Calgary hasn’t had the warm summer everyone else has had. Lots of rain. Summer has disappeared without showing up. LOL
I’ve been dealing with chronic pain for quite some time. Disappointingly I can’t get in my many walks but I did sneak in 2 short ones today. We went out twice and I got Ed to drop me off on the way home both times. Wasn’t very far as it’s 5:30 pm and I only have 6,362 steps in but every little bit helps.Having fun visits with our family and tomorrow take out 4 grandsons for supper.
Melissa and her family over for supper yesterday.
Have a great day everyone

❤️ Jeri, good to hear from you. Sorry to hear about the pain.
😀 Jackie, cute video
😀 How hot was it this afternoon????? My dog walking friend didn't walk because it was too hot for her, Bessie didn't even leave the fenced yard to do her business and Annie went out the front gate and walked around to the back gate and came back into the house. Fortunately this kind of heat lasts only a few days. I have an appointment with the dermatologist at 1 PM tomorrow and I'll leave Annie at home instead of taking her with me and letting her wait in the car in the heat. This will be a new practice for us
😀 I started watching the new season of Professor T. What a great show.

Happy Tuesday! A do nothing day for me except get something to bring to the staff for my last trial appointment tomorrow, either Fannie Mae or a fruit basket. Had some rain during the night and expecting more today although it looks like the sun is trying to come out.
Barbie, I was laughing at your description of the dogs and the heat, the are smart girls. I hope Annie behaves while at dermatologist tomorrow. Good luck.
Jeri, good to hear from you and great picture of some of your family. Sorry to hear you are in chronic pain, nothing helps?

😀 Annie and I had another great milestone today. I had an appointment with the dermatologist at 1PM when it was much too hot to leave her in the car while I saw the doctor so I left her home. This is the first time I've gone out in the car and left her at home. She seemed to know that something was different. I was gone just over an hour and all was well at home. She greeted me a though she hadn't seen me in a month but nothing was damaged and the rest of the afternoon went well.
😱 They sliced out two little hunks of me to biopsy—one on my scalp and one on my arm. I'll know the results of the biopsy in two weeks and go back for another appointment in a month.
😀 We got up early this morning to have time for a long walk followed by watering the garden. We met up with a friend with a dog so we had company for our long walk. Among the early morning sights was a raccoom climbing a tree.

Hello, sorry, my stomach has been giving me fits again. Moving kind of slow but I have gotten laundry, some cleaning, a bit of cooking (needed some bland rice), and my Zoom classes accomplished each day. So nothing at all exciting other than going to the bank yesterday. That may be my fun for the week.
It has been very interesting here in our group!
Jeri, how wonderful to hear from you. I am sorry about your pain and lack of relief. Look at the family! Would love to see a picture of you with Ed. Wishing you the best indeed. Have you been to a pain management doctor?
Barbie, how wonderful that Annie made it through your trip to the doctor. Yippee! She is growing up. 👏🏻👏🏻

Happy Wednesday! I am getting picked up in a half hour so will be quick. Lin, I did see someone else bring them cookies or something so I thought it would be a nice gesture. Gotta go. Have a good day.

😀 It's much cooler here today. There was a neighbourhood ice cream social with live music this afternoon. I left the dogs home and went hoping to have a chance to practice my social skills and eat some ice cream. Because of the heat and ice cream, all the seating was indoor along with the man playing a guitar so it was crowded and noisy. I enjoyed my ice cream which i counted as my dinner, the conversation I had with the two people sitting next to me, and the guitar music which was a selection on songs that were familiar.

Happy Thursday! After three hours at the eye trial and numerous tests I finally got home with a sore eye. It is better today but the doctor put in a needle to take some fluid out and it felt like something was in my eye all night. Don't ask me why but I have agreed to extend the testing for four more years. It is only every six months so I said I would. Signing a three year lease and a four year commitment, I better stay healthy. lol Meeting today and tonight bunco at my clubhouse with friends.
Barbie, glad to read you went out and had a little fun. It is hard just staying in by yourself everyday, you need to break things ups a bit. I am proud of Annie, I hope she was a good girl.
Lin, good luck with your driveway today. I am happy your rain has stopped and you can get out and do things.
Jackie, internet problems again or just busy?

Hi, well things didn’t go as planned. The technicians arrived 4 hours early which is fine but they disagreed with the layout the sales guy put together and they said the entire job could not be completed in a day due to drying time. So they did some of the work and they will be back tomorrow. We had a bit of a discussion on payment. They did half the work so they wanted half of the remaining balance (already paid 20% to hire the company)and I said you are coming back tomorrow and I prefer to pay the balance when the entire job is completed.
The guy in charge said he didn’t think they could do as much repair and restoration as ordered. Prepare to be disappointed….Sandy, I cannot believe you signed up for an extended period of testing. Wow! I hope it is helpful.
Barbie, I am glad you enjoyed your ice cream and conversation with several people. Good for you.
I also attended a live stream of a friend’s funeral mass. I got a last minute message from a mutual friend with the time of the service. Very lovely lady did all of the singing. I hadn’t been to that church for a long time. It is still beautiful.

Happy Friday! Laundry is started and today is a Holy Day in my religion so I will be going to Mass at noon. After that I hope to spend the day at the pool, it will be closing soon so need to get as much pool time as I can. I have to get a hold of my landlord and see if he has my lease ready or if he changed his mind. My lease is up September 1st so I would like to know what I am doing.
Lin, why don't you call the sales guy and tell him what these guys said so they don't try and charge more money. Just my opinion.
I don't have a lot of time so hello to everyone and have a good day.

Goodness me, it feels like I’ve been cut off from the world! Wi-Fi stopped working then phone calls kept dropping out and after trying every little trick to reset my iPhone and iPad I had to give up. I think it might have been some sort of atmospheric interference because we do experience problems from sun spots. Then with everything that’s going on in Britain politically, although I won’t say what here, I could become paranoid! Big Brother!!
This was my final attempt before going to bed and suddenly I am back online but haven’t caught up with your posts. I am also sifting through too many emails but at least got on to MFP to let you know I’m still alive! Fingers crossed I can get here tomorrow. I am going to update my phone settings overnight. 🫣
I hope you are all ok.

😥 Jackie, oh no, phone and internet both having trouble.
😀 Sandy, I like being home alone with the dogs, the computer, and the tv. I go to meetings on Zoom once or twice a day and talk to people along the way on my walks so I'm not as solitary as I seem. Your busysocial calendar would overwhelm me.
🎵 Today my dancing friend went on an adventure with her coffee klatch group so I went up to the clubhouse to the Fit and Fall Proof class that happens on Tuesday and Friday mornings. It was an hour of light exercise with stretches, balls of various sizes and exercise bands and friendly people.
