Happy Sunday! KIds were good in Church, then to Mc Donald's where they had fun on play structure and then we cam home to watch a movie with snacks. They all behaved and it was a nice night. They were up late so slept late and are now eating breakfast. We will go to the pool when I am organized until their parents pick them up.

Tomorrow I have an early morning hair appointment and will then come home to do one load of laundry before going to kids house for cake for Robby's 11th birthday. Will also try to pack a few things as I have a stress test Tuesday. Picking up Kristy and Carl from airport around 5:30 and might have game night with Cheryl after ordering some Chinese food.

Busy week and I hope to post every day but forgive me if I don't. Have a good day.

😀 My Saturday walk with my friend from Alabama turned out great. Near the end of our walk we passed the home of some newer residents who have been very busy landscaping their yard and eager to talk about it. My friend wants to do something with the previously neglected yard in her new home, so she made a new friend who is eager to help her.

😀 My yard needs only a bit of care plus watering every other day. I cleaned up a lot of cones that had fallen from the nearby trees and pulled a few weeds.

😀 Jackie, you've done a lot of research and expended a lot of energy to make your yard a safe place for butterflies. What fun.

😀 Sandy, when the space rent in our manufactured home park went up, many people said they'd move and then they found out how expensive it was to live anywhere else and how expensive and exhausting it would be to move. The few people who moved were affluent and moved primarily to make some sort of "point" to the management. Going from one rental place to another might be easier, but still a challenge. We own our houses and pay rent on the space.

Happy Monday! Busy day. Leaving soon to have cake with Robby for his birthday. Just wanted to pop in and say hello. Still undecided what to do about moving but will wait until I read the lease.

I hope all are well and enjoying their day.

Hello, a really hot day. Another storm last night and many people lost their electricity. Storms are expected again overnight. I made a trip to the post office, did some laundry, a bit of cooking, some Zoom classes and had a lovely conversation with a friend.

All in all, a nice day.

Thinking of you and wishing the best to the Sneakers.

Here I am finally. No loss of internet this time but Sunday I was caught up watching our England womens football team play in the final of the European cup and win so then I watched celebrations until way past bedtime. In the morning I made my cherry and rhubarb chutney and somehow created a pile of washing up and general mess. It took a while to clear everything away but worth it because I’ve got the beginnings of a collection of Christmas gifts to be handed out to local friends.
Yesterday I had a surprise visit from friends which was a treat. My gardening plans continue to be interrupted but I’m hoping to concentrate on dead heading where necessary. The grass needs to be cut but early rain left it too wet so, as Sue the gardener who stopped by on Friday said, enjoy the wildness! George and I enjoyed a gentle stroll on the moors this morning and I stopped at the post office to mail a succulent to my school friend in London. I removed it from an Echeveria that she had given me years ago because her mother plant had recently died. It was carefully packaged in bubble wrap so hopefully survives the journey!

Lin, I’ve missed the Yorkshire vet over the past couple of years and since Julian left haven’t been tempted back. It is a Channel 5 series but I see a channel called Pluto TV is also broadcasting it. I’m useless when it comes to tv channels so can’t say if that’s a mainstream channel or where they transmit!

Well, it’s 2pm here so I must get my gardening gloves on and do some work.

    Happy Tuesday.

Happy Tuesday! Leaving shortly for my nuclear stress test which takes 2 1/2 hours. I am going to try and pack before picking up Kristy and her husband at 5:30. Cheryl and Marisa are coming for game night and bringing Chinese once we are home. Tomorrow we plan to shop around 11am at Costco and Walmart before driving to reunion which is 2 1/2 hours away. I will let me son in law do the driving so I can relax. Looking forward to seeing all my grandchildren except two, but I will see Marisa tonight and Anthony lives in Hawaii. They will come and go at different times but all should be there on Friday for a group photo. We will be back Tuesday and I take them back to airport on Wednesday.

Hope you all have a wonderful week while I am gone. I will check in when I can.

Good evening. The rep from the company I have been waiting for showed up on time this morning. They can do more to fix my driveway than I thought possible. They also install gutter covers. I signed up for everything! I have paid my 20% deposit and am scheduled for August 14th weather permitting. I hope all goes well.

Sandy, time for the reunion. I hope all goes well and you have a very good time.

Jackie, I cannot get to any recent episodes of the Yorkshire Vet. Last I knew Peter moved to a new practice and Julian was running two practices. I can get the show on the Roku Channel, Pluto TV, Amazon Prime Video but none of them have any recent seasons. One source said Amazon had shows through 2024 but they don’t. It’s more like 2019/2020. Sorry Julian left the show. Wonderful that you got the chutney made. Excellent.

Time for the live Tuesday night show on YouTube. Be well everyone.

😀 The nasturtiums and pumpkins have flowers, the tomatoes are still green, the sunflowers are almost as tall as I am and some needed stakes to hold them up, the dogs are playful, the wifi is behaving itself, and I am averaging over 15,000 steps a day. Life is good.

😀 Sandy, when I read that you were looking forward to seeing all your grandchildren except two, I wondered which two you weren't looking forward to seeing because you speak so highly of all of them and then I finished the sentence and realized tha you just meant that two of them wouldn't be there. As usual, the laugh is on me. I hope you have a fabulous time.

😀 Lin, glad you found someone to do the work you need.

😀 Jackie, keeping up with the grass is a challenge. It's so dry here that it isn't growing but when it starts growing, it will be because it's wet.

😀 I did it. I went to the neighbourhood bbq. I just ate the hot dog I'd been thinking about with a bun, some onions, pickles, and tomatoes. I skipped the baked beans, pasta salad, chips, soft drink, and cupcake. I sat with people I knew and joined the conversation. It was fun but I didn't feel like I wished I could do it again any time soon. The dogs were fine being left for almost two hours. No damage, but Annie was very excited to see me when I got home.

It rained all day so once again my garden projects were put on hold. I walked George round the block but it was unusually busy with a lot of traffic and as you know, there are no pavements (your sidewalks) on our country roads. The final straw for George was a small digger being used to noisily create a trench on a corner that terrified him so we came home. A pottering sort of day after that!

Barbie, that’s another barrier knocked down going to a social event on your own. You should be proud because I know how sometimes it can feel easier not to go. Focusing on that hot dog was clever!!

Sorry Lin, your turn to lose a post! Pretty teapot though.

Take care Sandy and Bon voyage.

If I get to bed now I might be up early enough for one of my shopping trips for groceries.

Hello everyone. The weather is pleasant with the exception of the wildfire smoke making its way here from Canada once again. It has been noisy here as a neighbor with a very large house has hired a company to replace the siding. It has been a hammer fest. I wonder how long it will take them to finish such a large home.

We have a bobcat in the neighborhood and people with small dogs are somewhat concerned. One person called the city and whoever talked to her said bobcats will not harm people or small dogs. I don’t know if that is true, I intend to do some reading.

I picked, cleaned and cooked green beans today. And I ate all of them! Yummm.

I spoke with several friends, one is having surgery tomorrow and is quite worried about it. The other one has a continuing medical problem and is off to see another doctor in a couple of weeks. Meanwhile she was checking something in the house at night with no light and she hit her toe hard the next day it was quite swollen, discolored and very sore. She is sure it is broken but didn’t go to a doctor because she doesn’t think they would do anything to treat it. I agree. I think over the years I have broken a toe 3 times. Once I did go to the doctor and they taped two toes together. I can do that. She is just concerned she will not be able to go to the State Fair as a lot of walking is required and right now it hurts too much to tackle a day like that

Jackie, I hope you can get out early and buy your groceries. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 You need a few days without rain. We aren’t expected to get any rain until at least next Wednesday so I will be out with my watering can.

Barbie, in my lost post, I sent my kudos to you for attending that get together. I find things like that to be extremely difficult. ❤️❤️

    Be safe everyone.

😀 The good news this morning is that Social Security has confirmed the change in my tax withholding, I sent in the request about three weeks ago. I checked and the withholding has been changed on my pension. Also when I got the distribution from my IRA it reflected the additional withholding that I asked for. That's another task tended to. Now I'm just waiting to see if two of Jake's automatic renewal charges can be refunded.

😀 Lin, sorry to hear about the smoke from the Canadian fires. So far we have been smoke free.

😀 We got up early so I'll have time for a long walk and watering the yard before I have to facilitate a meeting on Zoom at 8:45. I had to cancel my Friday dance session because so many of the other facilitators are on vacation or something.😥

Jackie, on Yorkshire Day, The Yorkshire Vet posted this on Facebook.

“ Happy Yorkshire Day from all of us at The Yorkshire Vet. Lots of exciting new adventures coming soon – including one or two that aren’t within county borders. One of these photos was taken 4000 miles away! But of course, most will be right here on Yorkshire’s green and pleasant land. More info to come soon, have a great weekend everyone.“

I sent Anne a note today with some Yorkshire photos and responded quickly. She said she is still recovering and she and Jilly have ladies who come to look after them during the day. She hopes everyone is doing well.

Barbie, that is very good news! I am glad they got back to you relatively quickly. I hope everything continues to go smoothly.

Sandy, enjoying the reunion I trust.

Back to it. I have an another Zoom class soon.

What a wonderful photo Sandy. You must be having loads of fun.

Lin, thanks for updating us on Anne’s news. I owe her an email and will settle down this evening to write.

The Yorkshire vet practice did the same as mine joining an investment group who seem to concentrate on making money, not caring for our pets! Here’s a short piece from one of our newspapers.

“In 2018, both Julian and his co-star Peter left Skeldale Veterinary Centre after three years on The Yorkshire Vet. Julian subsequently established his own independent practice with his wife, Anne, in March 2021, named Thirsk Veterinary Centre. Around this time, Skeldale joined forces with Medivet, a veterinary group that runs over 200 practices across England and Wales. Shortly after this merger, Julian announced his exit, voicing his discontent with the direction the practice was taking.” I read somewhere that the new group dropped the farm animal side of their work and Julian loved his visits around the community. Although it isn’t said, I’m sure both men would have hated the changes, much like my vet. George has his annual check up next week so it will be interesting to catch up on what’s going on there!

I have been throwing myself into both gardening and a couple of DIY jobs, then yesterday evening I stayed outside burning cuttings until it was almost dark. Just in time because I’ve woken up to fine, soaking rain! No walk on the moors but I will take George for a stroll round the village later.

    Happy Sunday everyone. Stay safe.

    Jackie 🥰

😀 Sandy, what a great picture. It looks like your kind of fun with lots of people who are special to you.

😀 Jackie, our veterinary practice did something similar, joining a business that changed so many practices. Jake talked about taking our pets somewhere else, but he liked the vets so we stayed.

😀 Lin, thanks for the news about Anne.

😀 All the news here is the same. I thought I'd miss dancing on Friday, but at the last minute I got a text from someone who could host my Zoom meeting for me so I texted my dancing friend and we danced as usual. Annie got her new toy and stayed busy for about 45 minutes before she came in and pestered us for attention. We danced the last dance with me holding her on a leash so she couldn't trip us.

😥 No new tomatoes since the first bunch of red ones, but there are so many green ones that I didn't order any tomatoes in my grocery order trusting that there will be more ripe ones on my plant soon.

🙃 I am a slow learner. After so many mishaps dripping a bit of my chocolate Isagenix shake on my shirt while eating breakfast, I started tucking my napkin at the neckline.

😀 This is a slow time for yard waste so I'm going back to shredding papers now that there's more room in the garbage can.

Thanks for the update Jackie. If I could get the new episodes of the show, I would still watch them since Peter and Julian are still on the show although with different practices. The show is in a beautiful setting and with such a variety of animals! Maybe in another 10 years someone will put additional episodes on YouTube.

Hello dear George. Hope you stay dry. Jackie, you are a very hard worker! WTG!

Barbie, glad you did get to participate in your usual dancing time. Glad Annie can stay occupied by a new toy each week. 🤞🏻🤞🏻 on more ripening tomatoes soon.

Time to run along. Take care.

A strong storm swept across Britain today but luckily Cornwall only caught the tail end early afternoon. George and I walked on the moors early on then I drove to the farm supply store for layers pellets for the hens. I had also wanted Brady’s Whiskas sachets but there weren’t any on the shelf so I will have to shop elsewhere tomorrow. I phoned Sheila before driving home to see if she was home because I would be driving past her village and she was happy for me to stop by with George. We had a good catch up while the storm blew around outside. A tomato plant I gave her a month ago is producing tomatoes and is more advanced than mine at home in the greenhouse!

    Time for bed.

😀 I found more ripe tomatoes on my plant yesterday so my lunch today will be tomatoes with slices of the cucumber I got from the store and a can of tuna with mayonnaise. One of my friends has cucumber plants and will give me some when the cucumbers are ripe but they aren't yet.

😀 Larissa called at 2 yesterday as she had planned. She set an alarm so she'd remember. Her business is having some finanial problems, but that won't interfere with her family plans to go to Molokai for 10 days this month. Her teenage sons are still happy to go on family vacations.

😀 I cleared off another bookshelf—some books to the charity shop and some to be mailed to others. I have two bags of stuff to take to the charity shop tomorrow. Yesterday I went to the post office.

😀 Rain is predicted here later today. It's not likely to be enough to satisfactorily wet the ground, so I'll water when I get back from my walk this morning.

Hello. Yesterday, I got absorbed in looking up exact amounts of everything that needs to be paid in August or early September. Next I need to decide how to manage funds. I also need to make my birthday list and get to work on cards for August. Most of the cards will be sent in the second half of the month.

I just picked and cleaned green beans. Yes, they will be consumed for lunch. Yum. And I am doing a small load of laundry each day lately. Nice to manage it that way.

The temperatures are rising and we will see high 90’s by the end of the week which is when our State Fair is in full swing. I need to tackle more weeds but at this moment I cannot get any pulled, maybe after the next rain (whenever that may arrive).

Barbie, I am glad you found more tomatoes to pick. Enjoy your lunch.

Sandy, what a great time you’ve had. Sorry, your daughter and son-in-law have to leave tomorrow.

Jackie, it sounds like a nice day although not finding Brady’s food is a letdown. Did they know when they might have more available? I cannot believe Sheila’s tomato plant is beating yours in the greenhouse in tomato production!

Have a happy day everyone. Back to my morning chores.

I’m afraid yesterday was another of my days where I managed to do a lot of housework, including washing the floors in my shower room and kitchen, then again looking at ways I might be able to turn my extremely heavy mattress so I can then get round the room with my new Bosch cleaner. I fell asleep at some point in the evening and woke up around midnight.
I’m pretty sure my tomatoes are late because it got too hot in my greenhouse during the heatwave so the plants shut down and several dropped their flowers. There won’t be as good a harvest as previous years but I’m enjoying what I do manage to pick. Cucumbers have faired better so I’m even in a position to share with friends! We are supposed to “enjoy” another heatwave next week!

After our walk on the moors this morning I drove down the road to our local store to buy local fish from the fishmonger who sets up in their car park. He’s very popular amongst those of us who were taught at school how to prepare and cook fish. Kids today in Britain seem to live on pizza and burgers.

Lin, that’s another Moorcroft pottery teapot. Everything they produced was tactile! The farm supply store doesn’t carry much pet food and I think what is there is just a gesture to farmers who have pets as well as livestock! I returned to the pet store in town yesterday so Brady is stocked up and George has a few more treats!

I came close to losing this post so will finish off and investigate Molokai. Sounds Hawaiian but I’ll probably discover it’s in a completely different area! The hens need mucking out too so a busy afternoon planned.

    Stay safe.

Wow! I Google searched Moloka’i and read about the Hawaiian archipelago then found a review of a book of the same title by Alan Brennert that was very interesting although the reviewer admitted she cried through most of the read!! I’m going to see if I can get my hands on a copy.

Happy Wednesday! I got up at 6:30am to take Kristy and Carl to the airport. I am tired but will wash their bedding for the next guest and I want to get my car washed because it is full of bugs from driving. I would like to get to pool to see my friend but will see how fast I can get moving. We had a wonderful time and the place we stayed was just great. I especially liked that each bedroom had it's own bathroom. We will probably not have a reunion next year as we have two weddings in the family. My grandson from Florida is getting married January 16 and my granddaughter Katie is getting married May 20 in Virginia. With the airfares, loggings and gifts we decided to postpone the next reunion. We are thinking of going to Arizona so Sandra, the lady who pays for our Airbnb, doesn't have to travel since she lives in Tucson. One day at a time. I was surprised but happy I only gained a pound on this trip. I will be happy to get back to my way of eating.

Traveling is always fun but always glad to be home.

    Have a great day.
