Yes, if I am going to eat fish, I do not want fakes from lakes or oceans. There are so many imitation foods now to choose from. Why not just stick to the original food and not change the DNA with unnatural genes. It "makes" me wonder what God thinks of man making their own form of food rather than the delicious food he wants us to eat.

Susan when I said I loved Fishing on the Lakes in the Northland of Ontario, it was real life, my Grandpa taught me to fish as a young girl. We would have a Fish bake sometimes on the shore of the lake where we fished, we caught a lot of Pike….so tasty! And I agree No Fakes accepted! Yes I believe Hake fish is an ocean fish, will have to research that to see what Google says. And for all of our Sakes, we all need the real thing, yummy tasty Fish fresh from the Lake…yum yum!
SAKES

I remembered you telling us that you fished a lot with your family, Judith. They are such special memories. If your Grandfather was like mine, he would have joked with you all and made you laugh sometimes with his practical jakes!

What fun fishing with your grandparents. I only had one Grandfather when I was born but he did not go fishing. We would work in his garden as he told me stories as he wielded his hoe and his "rakes" getting rid of the weeds.

Thank you Susan, yes I so remember all the Jake’s, stories, jokes and one laugh especially I loved Fishing but could never bring myself to put a worm on the fish hook, he tried and tried, even brought gloves but none of it ever got me to push and twist a worm on that hook! And Linda, yes precious memories, we all have memories and yours with your dear Grandfather working and spending time with him in the garden is so precious! Yes Precious Memories. Yes it “Takes” all kinds of activities with our loved ones to make Precious Memories!

ReRemembering g grandparents is one of the lovely things we can do. It ticks all the boxes for feeli g all kinds of emotions - nostalgia, love, laughter, gratitude...and more.
TICKS
1 -
Amen Susan, it Ticks all the boxes off for feeling all the great emotions that being with our Great-Grandparents will bring along our way. Yes those great loving emotions will Stick close to our hearts!

We are ticking off all the pleasant memories of our times when we were children with our grandparents. Those will stick with me until my brain gets tired as I get older and some memory loss occurs. We need to take "stock" of our times with our grandchildren that we also make fun memories with them.
STOCK
1 -
Yes, let's make a stack of memories for each child and grandchild.
STACK
1 -
yes Linda, we sure need to take Stock of our time with our Grandparents and for that matter all our Families. And yes Susan let’s make a Stack of memories that we can pass down to our children & grandkids! We can make more memories by taking our Children and Grandkids to the Skate Park. Even if we can’t Skate our Grandkids will remember we took them there and cheered them on as they had fun learning how to Skate.
SKATE

Skating can be fun but at my age it is too dangerous to try. I have seen in the nursing home people who broke their femur below the hip replacement where surgery weakened it too many times to try that. I am a good watcher of the grandchildren though. We have a skating rink in Westminster but we do not have any in this part of the "state" that I know of.
STATE

We have one indoor skating rink in Brisbane and I used to go there with our kids! In far northern Canada we had a natural rink in an old wooden warehouse that stayed frozen 10 months of the year and I used to skate there. Now I am not so keen to skate either! But I would supervise grandchildren. It would be a good way to add to the slate of their memories.
SLATE

An indoor skating rink that stayed frozen for 10 months sounds great. If the weather was bad outside with "sleet" you would be protected from the weather in the warehouse.
SLEET
1 -
yes a good way Susan to add to the Slate of their memories and yes it sounds great Linda if the weather was bad outside the Sleet would be protected from the weather in the warehouse! The Sleet would be like hard as Steel nothing would hurt or bother it.
STEEL

We often had to go to the skating ri k there in the dark as it was the land of the midnight sun. We usually didn't get sleet, just lots of powdery snow. I lovedcatching the snowflakes on my parka arm. No one can steal that childhood memory from me.
STEAL
1 -
Judith steel is certainly strong and Susan catching snowflakes on your parka sounds like fun. We tired to catch the flakes on our tongues. I am glad that the flakes were soft and melted quickly. It would have been horrible if they were sharp as a "speal" (scythe for mowing) because that would have hurt.
SPEAL

yes I too agree nothing will steal it away from me either. Yes it’s wonderful we can Speak of so many things that keep our memories alive!

I have some good memories of steak BBQs too. Do you?
STEAK

Susan, I sure do, steak, salmon and chicken BBQ’s yummy 😋 And sometimes it Takes several people to bring many cuts of meat to make a scrumptious BBQ.

Oh yes, and I remember potato bakes too, on open fires! We would wrap potatoes in several layers of soil and roast them in the coals.
BAKES
1 -
Roasting potatoes on the fire is good as long as you can get the dirt off and eat only the potato. I would prefer to put them in heavy duty foil. When they were ready we would sit on "bales" of hay to eat them with lots of butter.
BALES
1 -
And yes Susan, loved Potato Bakes, and Linda, we did the same thing with our Potato Bakes, we put mounds of butter on our Baked Potato, and yes we sat on Hay Bales….Wow, memories….I love it! 😊 my Grandma would cut Slabs of Butter and have it ready on a plate for us to pierce slabs of Butter (not True) but good for my story line) with our forks for our Potato Bakes.
SLABS

Lol, Judith! Love the slabs of butter for our story! It sounds like we all had a blast with potato bakes. (I only ever used scrubbed potatoes so we could eat the skins, Linda.
BLAST

I like the story line with this thread. I hope it "lasts" for a while.
LASTS
1 -
Yes Susan, we all had a Blast with our Potato Bakes…And Linda I agree, I hope this Story Line Lasts a really Long time. Yes having a blast with Slabs of Butter I just remembered hope someone brought a couple “Salts” and Pepper Shakers so we could season our Potato Bakes too?
SALTS

It's fun to remember the good times outdoors 😀 Yes, We'll need seasoning, Judith. Good idea. And I will bring a knife so we can make slits in the potatoes for all the yummy butter.
SLITS
1 -
The Knife and seasoning will be very helpful. The platter we put the potatoes on has " slots" on it to hold the knives we will use to make slits.
SLOTS
2 -
Thank you Susan for providing the knife to make Slits in the Potatoes and Linda that’s great to have a platter that has Slots for the Knives to go in,we are well organized. We have Spots for everything…We are good to go!
SPOTS

We're a pretty good team, always on Point! (I took both 's' away for this word sorry)
POINT
1 -
Not to worry Susan, no need for an apology, all good! So I agree we are a really good Team, to the Point, as one shares one thing and the other something else, we Pinto to the task, just like one provides Rice and the other Beans, “PINTO”
