Daily Check In: Are You On Track Today?

It won't be long until everything is back in place Paula! It's great that the dust is all cleaned up.
Glad you made it back home DW. I hope your time away with family was wonderful. That day off to help get settled back in, especially after an overnight flight. Is there something in happening in March that you used to set your weight loss goal?
My sister just got a Golden Retriever puppy. It made me want to get a puppy but I know I need to wait until I retire and get some traveling in. I can be happy for her! And can totally wait for my turn.

Welcome back DW! Glad you are home safely. Traveling can really drain us. Good you had a day off before returning to work. Hope you enjoyed the wedding and time with your family.
Shari, I am excited about your sister's new pup! I love Goldens. My cousin Sherry has had Goldens, and they are wonderful dogs.
I did well today with food choices and tracking. I hit the top of my point range today because of snacking but I didn't exceed my range. I continued today to do things to get the house back to normal. Little by little I am making progress and things look good again. I had a grocery delivery today too and am pleased with my healthy purchases. I will enjoy a day of rest on Sunday.

We have big news in our family, our middle child got engaged yesterday. They are a really good match. Now to see when they want to be married.
Glad you are getting your house back in order Paula. I focused on our bedroom yesterday. There were a lot of dust bunnies that needed to be vacuumed up. In the afternoon DH and I spent some time cutting down dead branches from our windbreak trees. It is looking so much better.0 -
Congrats to your son and his future wife! Very happy for all of you. How nice that they are such a good match.
Our Keurig coffee maker started having problems yesterday but was still working. It wouldn't work at all today. I had a spare Keurig in the garage just to be prepared for this type of problem. (I guess it shows how much I love my coffee.) But the spare Keurig was up on a high shelf, impossible for us to reach. So once again I had to call Craig to come to our rescue. He eventually got here (2 hours later than promised). I didn't complain because I was just so glad to have a coffee maker again. My eating was off in a weird way today. I really wasn't very hungry today. I nibbled and grazed but didn't make bad choices. I am feeling some stress which I think contributed to my lack of appetite.

Paula- I chuckled a bit over the fact that you had a spare Keurig in the garage. You really must love your coffee! I think stress can either give us a huge appetite or take it away. I pray that your stress will subside and things settle.
I ate to plan yesterday. I am down 1/2 pound from last week. I am thankful things are finally headed in the right direction. I hope to keep up with everything so I can continue to see these kind of results. I am okay with slow as long as it is steady.0 -
Shari, Congrats on the downward scale movement. I agree moving in the right direction is what it is all about. I do indeed love my coffee! I am already thinking of getting another "back up" Keurig "just in case." My stress level eased up a bit today. And my hunger remained very low. I was well within my point range with fairly low points. The floor installer came this evening and cleaned up all the glue that seeped through the seams. The floor looks so much better now.

Did you end needing to call the flooring company to tell them about the glue? I am glad it looks better now.
It looks like Tony will be coming home soon, and that is great news. DH went to see him yesterday and said he is looking much better.
I had a typical day. It was quite outside so after dinner I spent some time in our front yard raking up pine cones, pine needles, and the smaller branches from when we did our pruning. Once they get moved to our burn pile, our windbreak of trees should look really good.

Hello! Shari, congratulations on your son’s engagement and on your weight loss! I’m happy that Tony will be coming home soon! Paula, we also have a back up coffee maker but a smaller one that we travel with when staying at hotels but also use as a back up at home ( in use now until I have time to do the vinegar cleaning process on the regular coffee maker). I’m happy that your floors are completed! Shari, you’d asked if something special is happening in March - I hope so! We’re trying to plan a family trip to Disney World and our DS and his family would meet us there. Our DD would be going, too. This has been a long time dream of mine ( we went when the kids were young). I’d like to improve my fitness so I can keep up and make it through each day. I’m going to go to the gym tomorrow after work and hope to establish a routine. Have a great Wednesday!!

Happy October! Can't believe how September flew by!
DW, your plans for Disney World are exciting and great motivation for weight loss and good health in general. I remember that you chose your user name because of your intention to go to Disney World in 2022.
Shari, Great that Tony will return home soon. I hope some home health services can be provided to help Walter and Tony.
When I called the flooring store on Monday the owner answered the phone and said he would contact the installer. The installer lives about 10 minutes from here, called, and said he would come after his supper. He told me I should call him directly if the floor needs to be taken care of further as more glue could still seep through.
I had an excellent eating day and am well within my points budget. I seem to be making wiser food choices and still haven't been really all that hungry. Wednesday we go to get our haircuts. I dread it every time because it takes a lot out of me and I stress about getting in and out of the van.

DW- That is fantastic that you have plans to go to Disney. I have only been to Disneyworld one time, and would love to revisit. I didn't have time to see and experience all that is offered there. Getting in shape will help, there is so much walking that you will get to do! What a great way to get steps in.
Paula- Getting in and out of vehicles can be very difficult as we age, I can see why it is stressful for you. I just said a prayer that you will manage well and that the appt won't be too taxing.
Not much new for me. I have had trouble getting enough protein in, and now my fat can be lower too. I used to be way over. I will need to balance out my macros better. I have a good plan to work from, but dinners are not as consistent as I need them to be.

No haircuts today because our hair stylist didn't feel well and cancelled us early in the morning. That was fine with me. She tends to be prone to migraines so I suspect that was the problem. I was very glad for the found time being able to have a relatively easy day since I didn't create a Wednesday to do list. I had wonderful delicious salmon for supper. I think I like salmon as much as I like pizza, and salmon is much better for me. Shari, do you track your macros on myfitnesspal or elsewhere? I now have a better understanding of macros when you post here. Weight watchers has greatly improved its tracking for macros. It is much easier now to see how I am doing with the macros instead of just focusing on the points. I am very pleased with my numbers today as I was in the appropriate range in all areas.

I hope that you are not too disappointed about not getting your haircut. I am sure you were looking forward to getting your hair done Paula.
I joined an online program called Win at Life. I track on their app. It isn't as user friendly as MFP, but I receive group coaching on this program. It is quite expensive, so it won't be a forever thing, but it shouldn't need to be once I hit my goals.0 -
Group coaching can be very helpful Shari. I would guess it can be enjoyable too. Today went well for me. My motivation is average, and my hunger level has been quite manageable. I made a rather large pot of turkey chili at John's request. We will save the chili leftover from today to eat on Saturday so I won't have to cook much while we enjoy our college football games. Buster went to the groomer today. He is now wearing a pumpkin neckerchief courtesy of the groomer. I think John and I will see our "groomer" for haircuts next week.

I am really enjoying the program. I am confident that if I can stick to the plan, I will achieve the goals that I would like to. It was my FIL's 94 birthday yesterday. Some of the family gathered for dinner. Chinese food was ordered, but I brought a bowl of soup and made a slice of toast to go with it. I was proud of myself to stick to my plan with the perceived family pressure to eat what they were. For some reason, no one made a big deal out of it like they would have in the past.

Shari, God bless in FIL reaching the age of 94! Congrats to you for adhering to your plan, so tough to do with family social activities.
I had another very good day today. I am in the groove to do all my tracking and am pleased with having a few points leftover today. My macros were under or at the lower end of my ranges. I will have to pay closer attention now that I understand this better. The floor installer came again today to remove more glue from the floor. He is an incredibly nice guy, a man of faith too. He told me he will be going away for a few days next week so to call him on or before Monday if more glue seeps through.

I had a full day yesterday but didn't manage to get my steps in. I will need to make up for that today. I was hoping to do some things around my place, but Walter needs help clearing out a room at his house. I said I could help. I have no idea where anything will be able to be moved to. The house is so full! I am hoping a lot can be thrown out. If I work hard, I am hoping 2 hours will do it. but they may ambitious. I think this activity should rack up a lot of steps.
Paula, do you how long it takes the flooring glue to fully set?
0 -
I am sure your work was intense as you helped clean out a room for Walter! Throwing things out makes so much sense (to you and me….but I wonder about Walter). I would expect that you get quite a few steps from the process!
The installer told me that more glue could continue to seep through for a while yet. Craig was here today and said he thinks the installer used too much glue to begin with. He could be right, but this installer has been doing this for years and is quite respected. So I am really not sure. But already today we see more glue seeping through, just not as much as before.
I did ok again with eating and tracking. I have a few points leftover, as well as my "weeklies." My day was somewhat productive but not overly so.

When I got to Walter's, he wanted me to move the wood that he stores in the house for the wood fireplace that he doesn't use. I wasn't expecting that, but I got it done. Lots and lots of steps. Lots and lots of trips from inside to outside, but I got it done. I didn't get to the parts that I thought I would be doing. I thought I might be sore today, but I am fine. I will see what tomorrow brings, I typically get sore on the second day.
I think I agree with Craig about the glue. Either too much, or it is very slow curing glue. As long as it is all good in the end, that is what matters.
Glad for a sunny day to go with my dad of rest.

Hello! I hope that you both had a good weekend! Mine has been busy and a little bit sad. A friend from church passed away this past week and I went to calling hours this afternoon. I hope to attend the funeral tomorrow morning but won’t know until I get to work tomorrow and can ask a boss. Meanwhile, I’ve started a new adventure thanks to my DD. She sent me a text invitation to join one of her “games” on the “Waybetter” app so I signed up . The game is to walk 5000 steps 3 days/week and 6000 steps an additional day. That should be doable! I’m proud of myself today- my workout friend cancelled but I went anyway . The gym is very slow on Sunday afternoons so I enjoyed a good workout! Have a great week!!

DW, so sorry for the loss of your friend. Church friends seem to hold a special place in our hearts. I am impressed with the "game" you and your DD are taking part in. It sure is a healthy activity and fun when you can share with your DD.
Wow Shari, carrying wood isn't something I would expect you to do. Seems like a very tiring task. You are sooooo good to agree to do that! Hope you aren't too sore from that work.
I woke up very tired today and really couldn't snap out of it. We did online church and then ate breakfast. After that I slept on our family room reclining love seat for a few hours. I know I really needed that because I woke up totally refreshed and ambitious. I cooked a healthy delicious dinner and enjoyed the evening.

DW- Sorry to hear about the loss of your friend from church. I hope you will be able to attend the funeral. That is great that you got to the gym and had a good workout. I went on Sunday too and it was surprisingly quiet at my gym too. I was thankful to be able to get my workout and have easy access to the machines that I needed.
Paula- We carried a lot of wood in Guatemala, so it brought me back to helping them out this past summer. It is a lot more fun doing it with a team. I didn't think I would be able to walk the next day, but I was able to and I feel okay so far this morning too.
I made a chicken and potato dish yesterday, it was quite good. You can check out the recipe here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oV9LdzONBJU

Thanks for the recipe link Shari. I watched it and plan to make the recipe sometime. I found Laura very real and interesting. I will check out other videos with her as well as her website. Today was sort of an easy day for me. I am pleased that I did ok driving John to his ML meeting but of course was a bit tired when we got home Fortunately we had leftovers from yesterday for supper (coincidentally, baked chicken, but I used breasts and served brown rice on the side). Before going to the meeting I managed to complete some to do items and have a considerable list waiting for me for Tuesday.

I really like Laura's recipes and have made a number of them. After work I spent time at Walter's getting one room cleared out. He is getting his place ready for something, but I am not sure exactly what. He said his lawyer wants things in order, but I don't know for whom. My guess is an auction place will come and access the situation and if they would consider taking the sale once he is ready. He wants to showcase his valuables I guess. He was surprised at how much I got done. I did see one mouse scurry across the floor, so I am not so excited to keep clearing things out. I don't do well with mice!
Hope your Tuesday goes well Paula!0 -
Shari, the mouse would have freaked me out as you might have guessed. When Craig's mom still lived in our neighborhood I saw a mouse run in and out from under her kitchen stove a few times. I can still see it when I think about it. Ick! I hope things work out for Walter with the possible auction. Are you within walking distance of his house? I assume yes.
I had another very good day for eating and tracking. I haven't been tempted much to stray and overly snack. I haven't been very hungry lately and have been within my point range for a few days. I hope to be able to balance on a scale one of these days to see if my short streak has had a positive impact. Tomorrow is haircut day, postponed from last Wednesday. Looking forward to that.

Walter is within walking distance, but I have only done it twice, as I have get across the highway and that seems a bit dangerous to me. I believe it's 2000 steps from door to door.
I have been doing well at tracking and staying below my calorie target. I have lost 3 pounds from my highest weight and about 10 inches. I am okay with slow steady progress. I am hoping that will mean it is sustainable and I can adhere to this meal plan long term.
Praying for your energy levels as you get haircut today.0 -
Such wonderful news about your weight loss and inches lost! You have so much to be pleased with! It seems to me that you have embraced your plan which will make it sustainable long term. Thank you for your prayers. My energy level was actually surprisingly good. Power of prayer!
I am having a good day all around. I faithfully tracked my food, even 5 points for my Dunkin Egg and Cheese Wake up Wrap that I got before our haircuts (along with a 0 point iced coffee…yep, I love my coffee). John enjoys some decadent frozen drinks from Dunkin when we are out. Since we do this so infrequently, both of us indulge in our own ways. One of my veggie growing friends, who knew it was my haircut day, called me to stop at her house to pick up more veggies from her garden. We now have an abundance of tomatoes and peppers again. More incentive to remain on track!

Hello! Happy Wednesday! Shari, congrats on your weight and inches loss!! I hope and pray that things will go well for Walter! Paula, I’m glad that your haircut day went well! Plus fresh vegetables!!
I’m having a busy week and always feel exhausted. I am getting tired of many of my dog club responsibilities and am considering resigning one or two of my positions. I will pray about it… I did go workout with my coworker and felt better after the workout!
Tomorrow after work we take DD to the airport. She is going to visit a friend. Her dogs will stay here and I will visit her cats daily. She returns next Tuesday. That’s all the news from here. I hope you both have a wonderful Thursday!!0 -
DW- I love how good I feel after my workout. I finally found a physical activity that I really enjoy. I don't look for excuses not to go and don't like having to miss if something gets booked for the same day.
I have been pretty busy lately and my house is starting to fall apart. Good thing we have a long weekend coming up with no plans. I need some downtime and time to catch up with my housework.
0 -
DW, Stepping aside from positions within organizations is often not an easy decision. I am sure you are a solid and valued contributor with all you do in your organizations and church. I understand the need for a break and hope you are able to find a balance that works for you.
Shari, It's good to have a long weekend to look forward to. I hope catch up on rest along with catching up with housework.
I allowed several distractions and interruptions to interfere with my working on my to do list. So now I am pretty far behind and not happy about that. I am prepping for a visit from 2 of our Texas relatives (my cousin Tom who is John's Godfather and his wife….I am God mother to 2 of their children). They arrive Wednesday the 15th and will stay till Sunday the 19th. They will stay at a local hotel, as I told them in advance that I am not up to taking care of house guests, even those I love as much as I love them. They understood, but I am sure they would prefer staying here. Even though they aren't staying here I have a lot of house prep and meal planning to do. We have no solid plans for anything while they are here. We expect my cousin Sherry and her DH to spend some time with us too. (Tom's dad, Sherry's dad, and my dad were brothers.)

Sounds like you will have a lovely time catching up with family. I am looking forward to doing the same thing with our visit to Vancouver from Oct 16-21. Fall should be a bit delayed there as compared to here, so that will be lovely.
Last night, after the gym, I spent some time with Walter. He has been getting a lot done and I am not sure if he is doing that on his own or if someone else has been helping him out. He has one room set up like a normal room now- well, close to. He wants to get a second room done now. All to show off his antiques with hopes to be able sell them.I have weighed the exact same the last three days in a row. I am so ready and hoping for a drop! Maybe tomorrow.
