Hello and welcome to the Low carber daily forum group. Please take time below to introduce (or re-introduce) yourselves below:

Me:

Real Name: Laura
Height: 6'1"

CW: 278
GW: Under 200
UGW: 189 (healthy BMI)
Location- Leeds, Yorkshire- UK

Not married- but have a great BF.

Diet Plan-Modified Atkins. I try to keep my Carbs under 20g a day but as i've been on the plan a while I allow myself coffee, diet soda and booze! (Low carb- of course!).

This is coupled with getting as much exercise as I can. I suffer with chronic pain (Endometriosis) which limits my exercise but I enjoy swimming & walking.

Strengths- Cooking! I looooove inventing new recips, low carb versions of 'bad' foods and low carb versions of all my favourite cuisines (Greek, Thai, Mexican, German, Middle Eastern, French, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, moroccan, Indian.... you get the picture- I love exotic foods!!). I'm not a picky eater and will try most things :o)

Super weakness
mashed potatoes, ice cream, chocolate.

UGW= Ultimate goal weight. I would be happy to get under 200, but EXTREMELY happy to get that healthy BMI- which for me is at 189. Being so tall, and having a large frame people often think I'm a good 30lbs lighter (if not more) than I am- so I look good at 200.

Oh.... I totally forgot to add my strengths: Cooking/Baking, creating low carb yumminess, my excellent British sense of humour, shopping (Yes...it's a strength when you can hunt out bargains like I can!)

Diet Plan: I had started following Atkins in September this year but I have fallen off the wagon - my best friend and I have jut set ourselves a mini competition to shed some weight prior to NYE (next time we're meeting up) so I'm kick starting the low-carbing again (no particular plan), starting tomorrow and will be doing around 20g carbs per day and calories around 1400 per day.

I'm also going to focus on upping my exercise levels...or at least trying to lol!!

Nice to meet you all :-))

hi to all the low carbers out there.

Low carbing has helped me easily regain my health, after a doctor put me on a high carb diet and I immedietely became diabetic. Switched to low carb and - bam - no problem!

I've been primal since 1995, strict gluten free since 2004, and paleo since this year. I love paleo as a way to get super cut, but will be a low carber for life. This is not a fad diet, it's a cure for diabetes, cancer, hbp, cardiovascular disease, etc. I hope America wakes up!

Married, no human children, have 1 yellow lab and 1 grumpy gray cat.

Diet Plan - Atkins. I just started this on 11/2 but am eating induction levels of carbs, at or under 20 g per day. Focusing on eating whole, unprocessed foods as much as possible and only eating convenience foods as a last resort (I have shakes and one package of bars but try not to use them too often). Trying to eat high fat, moderate protein, low carb.

I exercise as I can. I have fibromyalgia (recently diagnosed after a 6 month long mystery syndrome that included severe fatigue and constant, daily pain) and have a lot of pain in my muscles and joints. Some days I can barely walk up the steps to the bathtub. Other days I feel okay and can get in some exercise. I do what I can. I went back to my gym for the first time in probably 6 months today and used the elliptical for 25 minutes. I'm paying for it now. Thinking of doing some easy, low impact workouts at home with the wii fit (yoga, balance, that type of thing) and working up to my return to the gym. I definitely overdid it.

    Super weakness
Baked goods, esp those that contain yeast (yeast donuts, breads, etc). Really good craft beers (liquid bread). Also diet soda (I still drink these, 1 a day, after I've had at least 6 cups of water).

    Hello :)
Please forgive me for not providing my stat's... but they are not exactly healthy. And i dont mean i'm overweight.
I am actually in Recovery from Anorexia. I am new to Paleo but i have to say it's the best i've felt in a long time.... although i am not gaining weight, for the first time (except hospitalization) in about 15 years I am eating 3 meals and 3 snacks a day and am enjoying preparing and eating.....
I have only been doing Paleo for 2 week's, but prior to that i was on holidays in fiji where I was naturally was following a Paleo "type" of diet..... I felt so great!! When i got back home i went back to my old habbit's and started feeling crap again....
anyway saw paleo diet and realised that's how i had been eating and nervously decided to give it a shot!!
This feels so natural to me.....
So although my goals are alot different to most, I hope that I can gain more insight from Paleo and continue be healthier!

    Thanx :blushing:

Oh... My house hold is Gluten and Dairy free as my Son has Celiac Disease and Dairy Intolerance.....

My Weekness is "raw food cacao bar's"..... and at only a $1.95 there hard to pass up if I'm having a good day!

    1 boy, 6 - holy terror!!!!
Married for almost 8 years, together 11, he is the love of my life and my best friend

Diet Plan- Nothing 'fixed' just keeping under 60g carbs per day, allowing myself good wholegrain carbs a couple of times a week like healthy whole sprout breads and old fashion oatmeal. Mostly that is cuz I blew it at some point during the day and said "to hell with it" lol....

I am in the "maintain" part of my journey so any advise, support and anything else you guys need just let me know!!! Been there and done that LOL.....

Just know it is attainable!!! It really it!!! If I knew how I would post my before and afters to prove it but..... :)

I hit an all-time high a year ago and on November 5, 2010 I began converting to a paleo/primal eating style. I started out with reading "Neander Thin", then graduated to Mark Sisson's "Primal Blue Print," Sally Fallon's "Nourishing Traditions." I have read a bunch of others, but names start to escape me, let's see - Nora Gedgaudus "Primal Mind Primal Body." Anyway, cutting out grain, dairy, beans/soy, sugar and processed foods has been much easier than I thought it would be and the bonus of energy, weight loss and feeling better is amazing.

I'm excited to find MFP and especially excited to find 3 nice low-carb primal/paleo groups on MFP.

    Onward and downward.

On one of the outer groups, folks are talking about making pizzas with portabello mushrooms flipped upside down as pizza crust and filling the cups with the pizza fixings. That sure sounds good to me, but I have not tried it yet.

Diet Plan: I want to stop eating cr@p and focus on real food. I know it's two weeks until Christmas and I'll have a fridge full of chocolate at the end of term (I'm a primary teacher and I get loads as gifts!) but I want to stay away from processed food (I'm having Christmas Day off though) and make sure I am fuelling my body well and keeping myself healthy.

My inspiration is Zoe Harcombe - this woman will disagree with all of the quasi-science on MFP (see http://www.zoeharcombe.com/the-knowledge/20-diet-myths-busted/) but she dedicates her life to obesity research instead of just trotting out the same old stuff. I have met her and I wish I had continued to follow the diet instead of sliding back into old ways and regaining it all. I felt better, I had no sugar cravings and I felt good about myself and how I was nurturing my body. Today is the first day of regaining control for me.

This is coupled with getting as much exercise as I can.

mashed potatoes! but heard the mashed/riced cauliflower is an amazing replacement, still haven't done the carb difference to see if its worth it or should i just cut it out all together to get away from temptation.
