Challenge for week of Oct 1 through Oct 7
In one of my other groups a member suggested something for our daily challenge that I would like to use here. I asked and she said it would be fine to use. Her suggestion was that we do some type of movement while we wait for the microwave, etc. so this week here it is: Move, move move. If you microwave something do a few…

starting Again!!
Hi, have been a lurker for quite a while on and off--I stopped smoking in May of this year and have gained 12lbs. Before that I needed to lose about 15. So now the show is ON. I started back with MFP 2 days ago and at least I am keeping track of what I Eat. I am a sweet eater, so that is a big problem. I am retired so not…

Week of Sept 24 through Sept 30th.
Yikes, last week of the month already. How did you all do last week? I have to admit, I did the 60 each day except for today. I fizzled out. So next week lets be easy on ourselves and shoot for 20 minutes each day and let's try new things out. If you all have a suggestion for us, please post it here.

Hello everyone. My name is Gypsy and I've been overweight most of my life. I've been up and down the scales too many times to remember. Each time it seems to get harder and harder to take it off. My mobility was being compromised with each pound. It was difficult to walk and I spent most of my time sitting in front of the…

tough dropping the lbs
Hi, I'm wandering about looking for different idea's to lose some weight. I've been walking for about 3 months ( 3 brisk miles almost daily) and am fitter but the scales are moving very slowly. May I ask what "doing the 60" is? I'd like to get back to a little skiing this year but at my weight, I'm afraid if I fall, I…

Week of Sept. 17 through Sept. 23rd
How did you all do last week? Get those minutes in? Some of you did awesome. But, it really does not matter how many minutes, what matters is that we MOVE our bodies. So this week how about we shoot for the stars. We do 60 minutes each day. That is just 10 minutes each time for 6 turns or do 5 minutes each time for 12…

Week of Sept.10 through Sept. 16th
How about we shoot for 140 total minutes each this week of some type of movement? Walk, ride, weights, no matter, just DO IT! Good luck to us all and I am in, unless you all have an idea for us to use? I am always open for new ideas.

Looking for help..in main forum but no answers
My husband is 65, has a pacemaker and has been on Toprol for about 5 years, which is horrible for slowing down metabolisms. His starting weight was 255 and currently is 236. He is 6'1" tall and normally walks 1.5 hrs every day but a easy walk. Right now he has a broken ankle and uses crutches and mostly a wheelchair to get…

Starting our goals on Monday New goal for Sept 3rd
How about starting this Monday, Sept 3rd. We get in 20 minutes each day of exercise, doesn't matter what kind AND we add something like this...... sitting in a chair, we do punches. Just punch straight out in front as if you are boxing. We can do a total of 20, that would be 10 each arm. I am in. Who else is in? Come on…

Does anyone know of any exercises that I can do to gain some upper body strength and get rid of the underarm flab that my grand-daughter is always teasing me about (she's 7 by the way). Thanks.

Another newbie here--Hi!
Hi, folks! I'll be 60 this year, come Thanksgiving-tide; on MFP for at least three years, maybe five or more. Cancer survivor; heavy surgery, no cancer now, but try to exercise daily because of potential lymphedema from the surgery: I swim and lift weights and do Pilates. I've bounced up and down between 152 and 125 pounds…

weight goal
I belong to TOPS and my doctor has set my goal some what lower than I really want to go. I haven't decided if I'm being realistic about what I want to weigh. I do think age (I'm 69) should be considered besides just the weight chart. I have lost 40 pounds and just can't seem to budge the last 5 pounds. I am very active so…

Arms...WHAT HAPPENED?
I am posting this on all the senior boards, in hopes of some answers. Getting the weight off at this age is hard but to effect change on my wigglie, jigglie arms seems impossible! Any one have some exercises that have really worked? What I am doing certainly is not seeming to have an impact. Thank you.

Sooooo Glad to Find This Board
Gosh, I was beginning to wonder if there was anyone in my age range on these boards. So happy to find you my friends to be. It feels strange to say or admit...I am 68 years old and wondering where the last 20+ years went. Does anyone know what I mean? Still active and fly about once every 2 months between my home in Texas…

Hi, I'm 61 and not a year into retirement. Seems I always said "As soon as I retire I can devote more time to weight loss". Well, here I am and instead of losing I have gained some poundage. This group sounds supportive and I certainly need that since I have a great deal of weight to shed. Motivating myself is sometimes…

I am a 61 year old guy who is losing weight. Yea for me, boo cause I gained it. I live in Colorado, still work and am reasonably happy,(It's a self assessment but it works for me. Chuckling ruefully....) I am at a temporary plateau in losing but am still motivated. Nice to see a group that that is age appropriate for me…

Hi, I'm 62 and have many pounds to loose. I joined a weight loss and management program given by my medical insurance in January. It's a pretty radical and supportive program. We eat Optifast products only for 16 weeks then transition slowly to real food. Then there's a 9 month maintenance support group. I've been on the…

What do you do?
I have been trying to walk as often as I can. I also try to go up and down the stairs as much as I can and not as little as I can, and park a longer distance from the door when I go shopping. What are some of the ways you incorporate more movement/exercise into your day? I could use your ideas.

I QUIT!!
April Fools! LOL Of course we all feel like quitting at times. But, we trudge on, don't we? As for me, I lost so easily last year I kinda took it for granted ( I really think due to my elliptical. It burns more calories than walking? Mine broke, and I have not replaced it yet, so that is on my list). I hope all of you are…

I remember when.....
Since this is for 60+ers - some may relate - I remember when weight came off fast...when I would lose 5 to 7 pounds in the first week (what they termed then as "water weight") and then 2 pounds a week easily thereafter until I reached my goal. And if I exercised like I am now, it would not be unusual to lose 3 or 4 pounds…
