My hubby and I do a lot of camping. We treat ourselves to very good steak, mushrooms and onions on the first day. WE generally bring a big bag of spinach and balsamic dressing. We have feta cheese and cranberries with it. Essential is coffee for the am. First breakfast eggs and bacon. Second day is canned salmon and you…

Thanks- I will give it a listen.

I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie. I like to go fast. I like to slide into home base. I prefer when I am challenged to develop a back up plan. Unfortunately this cortisol driven behaviour is terrible for loosing weight. Cortisol drives up insulin levels and you cannot burn fat. I am trying to develop mindfulness…

I listen to Sten Ekberg on youtube- he is calm and convincing. Good to keep you trying to maintain fasting. I have two cups of coffee to get my day started and then go to a group class at the gym every am for about an hour. It distracts me from the fridge during that key time of 9-12 noon. The exercise helps with the good…

Dear inrpc4u, Love your handle! I am eating 16/8 and have lost .5 lbs per week for 18 months-around 40 pounds. I have 15 pounds I would still like to get rid of. Might be done by next June. I use Sten Ekberg on youtube for a bit inspiration. I have also used Room to track food and learn their clever lesson plans. They do…

Hi mrsfalcon92, Sounds like 16/8 works for you congratulations! Surgery is total pain. So sorry to hear about the surgery. Hope that you can get more active soon. I have been using a reformer bed for pilates and really like it. It was the only thing that allowed me to exercise. I have a prolapse and am using a pessary. 50%…

I like the MFP setup. Your food tracker is the easiest to use. The exercise tracker seems more geared to those who use machines in the gym but I can do a work with. My best tip is find a workout that suits you. I have a Club Pilates membership and I totally love this group. I had a lot of injuries. No jumping for my poor…

Good story James- Thank you. I have also really struggled with sleep for much of my life and tried to toast and PB myself to sleep. Works a bit but too adds the calories! Finding some kind of exercise that just makes you feel good-can help with sleep. Took me a year of pilates just so I could move more easily in the world.…

I am 68. I have lost 40 lbs using 18/6 intermittent fasting. Going to 2 meals a day has reduced calories and not snacking has allowed insulin levels to go down. I eat healthy but am not terribly strict about it.

Loved your image of riding the wave and all the suggestions of riding it out. I am/was a nighttime snacker until I learned that every time you eat, you stimulate an increase in insulin which is a fat storer. Well that has just about cured me! Thank you for your post.

Awesome!

Hi Kelly, I am also 5'3" and started at 197 lbs. After 30 years of unsuccessful dieting, I started intermittent fasting. I stop eating at 7pm which eliminates all the evening snacking and have my morning coffee x2, go to pilates class from 930-1030 and have brunch at 11am. It gives me a fasting window of 16+ hours and fits…

A tip is that your body burns stored fat if you exercise before you eat. Try doing your morning walk before you eat your breakfast. Are you increasing your fasting hours? 12 hours to start and slowly increasing to 16?

Congrats...smoking- my life for 31 years if you count all the inhaled second hand smoke! It gets easier- and you have ever so much more $$$ for frivolities like better food, better wine, exercise classes.

Junk food is learned...I am eager to see what happens now that younger folklore not watching TV. Money is invested in advertising, it works holding our thinking about our tastes. Taxes, would train me not to spend money on my personal favourites Lay's potato chips, Skor chocolate bars and gummy bears!

Limit your coffee/ tea to the morning! Make sure your sleeping area is black dark. Ear plug in to a meditation, music, or books. Indulge in affirmations and eliminate all those cortisol prompts.

You look very lithe and focused. What a transformation and inspiration. thank you for sharing.

Congratulations, you look fabulous and full of energy. Lots of courage and hard work.

Wow what dedication. You look fantastic. Congrats!

Sounds very frustrating. I read Dr Hyman's 10 day detox book and found it helpful for explaining why we do not lose weight because of the types of food we eat. He has several you tube videos, so you can get the gist if you do not want to invest in the book. Interesting book even for those of us who think there is nothing…

Fantastic work! Congratulations! I bet you feel fantastic.

Wow...Thank you so much for sharing your practice.

Hey Selena, Welcome to Fitness pal! This site is great because of all the feedback it gives you when you input the food etc. You have a busy job and a lot of people depend on you. That makes it super important not to burn out. Small meals many times a day will probably work. Almonds are high in protein! Gwen

Hey sister... a marching queen...gotta love it...I am going to "roll like a ball" right now. Inspiration.

This is my 4th day. The calorie counter is a real reminder of calories in calories out. Add me too.
