  • I so wished that actually happened. My back measurement just kept going down. At 5'11 and 143lbs (which is on the low end of normal) my size was 30G.
  • I'd advise going on a diet break. Eating at maintainence for 3-4 weeks. The last "few" pounds will always be the hardest and usually it's hard mentally, not physically. I know when I got within 10-20lbs of my goal I just got "tired". Tired of planning, tired of worrying, just tired. It was nice to have a break, some time…
  • This never worked for me because I'm always hungry and I can eat tons of food. And honestly, some of my calories come from beer and I can drink that ANYTIME.
  • I think that's why...you've come a long way and lost 80lbs. That's almost an olympic gymnast! Congrats. I'm sure people are just use to you being 250lbs and 170 looks thin. Take it as a compliment and move on.
  • Can I ask you where you started out? I'm 5'11 and got to 143lbs and NO ONE ever told me I was too thin (and that was a 50lb) loss. What I'd do. I'd tell them your body is none of their business.
  • Started at a 16, currently a 6/8. I'm happy here.
  • This is probably sneaky, but my weigh in day is Saturday. That's the only day I get on the scale. I know I'll need more flexability Saturday and Sunday, so I eat less during the week (1300 during the week, 1700 weekends). It all balances out and still lose weight. After I get off that scale, I go about my day. I have fun.…
  • It took me a long time to get to the point where I'm happy with what I see in the mirror. Now, am I perfect? Heck no. I'm soon to be 38. My twenties, where everything was perky and gravity hasn't taken over yet, is all kinds of over. I'm 5'11. It took almost 30 years to accept the fact that I'll never been dainty. I'll…
  • I bought Trail Mix the other day - serving size 1/4 cup, 140 calories. So I get it home, weigh it and I just stared at it. I'm like "140 calories for THAT". That wouldn't fill up a mouse.
  • I think it's quite normal to be hungry after 3.5hrs. Or it is in my world. I try and eat light every 2-3hrs so I'm never hungry. Also, just a tip, something to think about, if I have ANY grain, carb, etc for breakfast I'm hungry earlier than if I just had eggs and bacon. When I started I had oatmeal, but I found I was…
  • Honestly...you just have to put your big girl panties on and not eat "it". Adults have to make all kinds of decisions. You can make the decision to eat "it" and be upset with yourself or make the decision to accept that it's best that you just don't, and be proud of yourself. Trust me, being proud of something you've done…
  • Sugar Free Gum. If I'm chewing on something I don't think of food. If I'm not eating or drinking at work, there's gum in my mouth. I really should take out stock in Orbit. :)
  • This link really didn't give me much I didn't already know, but I played along anyway. I'd really like to lose 5lbs more - go from 155-150, but this thing told me I'm an idiot for wanting too, basically. That it won't do anything for my health. No crap. But it will do something for my pants fitting... 38 years old with a…
  • I only count calories. Exercise is something I do anyway. If I exercise and over eat, I still gain weight. To lose .5lbs a week I can eat 1620 calories/day. I tend to try for 1300 (which is close 1lb/week) daily, but sometimes life just doesn't let me. I weigh in on Saturdays. And I log and weigh everything (I've even be…
  • When I met my BF 4 years ago I shared my "weight loss journey" with him. We both love craft beer (hence one of my many reasons I'm constantly having to lose weight...). He told me a about a guy he read about that only drank beer for like a month. No food, just beer. Lost 30lbs. Now, I think that sounds awful, even if I do…
  • Anything with "Gluten Free" as the main advertisement Chia Seeds Kale Most "Organic" food Anything from GNC or any "Health" area of any grocery store Edit...anything that say "superfood".
  • My advice...instead of asking a bunch of random people if something is ok, then getting offended when they say it's not...try it for a few weeks. What is there to lose? To lose .5lbs a week (I only have 5-7 to lose, so that makes sense for me) I can eat 1630 calories. Some days, depending on my "life" I might make it to…
  • Don't have a cheat day. Incorporate things you feel are "cheats" into your every day...
  • If it fits in my day, YES. I have 1630 to use and some days, even with a beer/wine I get to 1250. It can be done if you want to make it happen!
  • Losing...about 3 days. Not that I "like" it, I'm just used to the habits that I've formed. Maintaining...Never. I'm constantly, gaining, losing, gaining, losing. But what's different now than 5 years ago? It's 5-7lbs at a time every 1-2 years. Not 50lbs like it was when I first set off to lose the weight.
  • 1) How are you figuring that each session of kickboxing burns 865 calories? Is that something they told you in class or are you wearing a heartrate monitor? 2) You've been doing this for 3 weeks...9 lbs in 3 weeks is 3lbs/week. And this upsets you? It's probably best to set realistic expectations right now so you don't…
  • It's actually easier to cook for one when you are watching what you eat. In 2011 I lost 50lbs. I cooked for myself every night. I had no other outside force telling me to eat something else. Or to be lazy and stay home with them. Fast Forward 5 years...cook for, live with and cater too a special guy. He loves rich food,…
  • Are you weighing your solid food? If not, I think you are eating more than you think. But 8lbs is still a loss and that should be celebrated!
  • To me, there's no food that off limits on any day of the week. If I stay within my calories on a certain day it's fair game. Like the 1/2 cup of Turkey Hill Peanut Butter Ripple Ice Cream that I eat almost EVERY DAY. If you add in things you don't feel deprived and you can eat at a deficient a lot longer without burning…
  • I've been in maintanance for about 5 years. I still can't allow myself to eat out of an open bag...chips, even semi sweet chocolate chips you bake with...if it's opened by someone else and it happens to make it to the couch, I'm in trouble.
  • Soups and chili for me. Or leftover dinner from the night before. When I'm really tight up about what to make I bring grilled chicken tenders and steamed brocolli (just make sure the smell of the brocolli doesn't make anyone else in the office sick :))
  • You really just have to plan ahead. Either bank calories from another day in the week, eat less early the day of or plan what you'll eat and eat only that. Also moderate booze. Just because it's a birthday party, doesn't mean you have to eat a huge piece of cake, just get a small one. Just because someone is having a party…
  • 5'11. Been in "maintanence" for about 4 years. in 2011 went from 193 to 143. Currently I sit somewhere between 150 and 160. And I'm really happy with that. To lose .5/lb week I eat anywhere from 1550-1630 calories and to maintain right now I'm right around 1900 calories. Really not concentrating on the number on the scale.…
  • I've been in maintenace for about 5 years now. I gain some, lose it, that kinda thing...but I've been noticing that my pants aren't fitting right. So I weighed a "serving" of Kelloggs Frosted Mini-Wheats last night. It was half of what I was eating previously. So that means I was eating at least 400 calories of cereal.…
  • I started planning what I ate daily so I never went over...if you have a plan and stick with it you'll never get in that situation. If you do go over one day, do better tomorrow. Put it behind you and use it as a learning experience.
