Thank you very much. That was very helpful :)

Thanks for the replies :). I have it set at 3000 still and I have stayed closer to 2500. I think I like feeling like I could go higher if I want to. I'm losing but of course I always lose quickly when I start out.

Thank you all for the encouragement! I am tearing up. Thank you :)

My knees started to hurt. I don't want to lose my ability to walk!

I have bipolar I and I've been dealing with it since I was a teen. I'm 51. I've lost count of the number of times I've been in psych wards over the years. In 2007 I lost 80 lbs and kept it off till 2010 when I went manic and the meds caused me to gain 40 back. Then I went manic again in 2011 and gained back another 40.…

Look up the effects of giving up smoking. I'm certainly not saying you should go back to smoking, but I was surprised at all that can come from that and how long it lasts. Just a thought.

I like the dish with peanut sauce. I think it's called pra ram. So good! No idea how many calories.

That 1% statistic is very discouraging. I gained back the 80 lbs that I lost in 07 and then some. I just want to get back to a size 18 or 20 again. It's so hard to maintain. I did for a few years and then I had to take meds that put on the pounds.

I totally get your frustration with this! It's so intrusive. Yes I get that you have the option to not get the discount, and that it is on par with the nonsmoking discount. I still hate it. Today, intrusions into our lives are offered as optional discounts (think discounts on car insurance for having tracking devices on…

Hi. I'm 51 and I need to lose a butt load of weight (pun intended). I haven't hit menopause yet so that is scary. I hit 328 lbs before starting here. My knees started to hurt and that scared me into action. I've lost 12 lbs so far. I would like to join this group as well.

Thank you all. I appreciate the help :)

Hi. I'm just joining the conversation here. I'm 51 and I weigh over 300 lbs. I find it kind of hard to accept both of those facts as true, lol. I've lost 11 lbs so far. I have so far to go. I lost 80 lbs some years ago and gained it back. I'm hopeful.

I'm doing well staying off both diet soda and sweets. Thank you to all who have been supportive. I found sparkling water in a can with flavoring. Made by Schweppes. Now I have something to drink with pizza.

Hi. Op chiming in again. This thread has been interesting to watch. I did feel somewhat attacked at first, but I think I get where people are coming from now I first counted calories on another website back in 2007. I lost 80 lbs and kept it off for 3 years. I gained it back primarily because of meds I was taking. I used…

Really. If you can't be helpful, just leave it alone. I had no idea a post about diet soda would cause such controversy.

Thank you Kalikel. I was feeling pretty discouraged. Thanks to all who gave ideas and encouragement.

Thank you Aviva. I was a bit surprised to find myself on the defensive, lol. Thanks Victoria. I'm doing two weeks giving it up (let's call it a lent type thing). I might have it in moderation later but I feel like an alcoholic...not altogether sure I can drink in moderation. I have to keep it in the house because my…

Thank you LeenaGee and the rest who gave suggestions. Making some ice tea now

I don't feel good about all the chemicals. Also, it keeps the sweet tooth going and makes it hard to stay away from sweets.

I'm at 322 from a high of 328. Knees were starting to hurt. I want to be at a weight where if I fell and couldn't get up, I wouldn't have to worry about how many firemen it would take to get me up. That's been taking up space in my head for a while now.

When I was pregnant with my daughter (she's 25) I was very close to 300. She did weigh 11 lbs, but still! I lost the weight, but over time I gained, and ended up at 307 in 2007. I freaked out at the number and counted calories at another website. I lost 80 lbs and kept it off for 3 years. I started this latest attempt ten…

That was a year ago that I was losing quickly. I lost 20 lbs in a month, so I guess it wasn't consistently a pound a day. Or maybe it slowed down like you said. I just started today again with counting calories. Of course I love to lose quickly, but I want what is good for the long haul. I always lose quickly and I know…

I'm 5'7", 51 years old and I don't have a job. I clean the house and make dinner for my husband, but I am quite sedentary most of the time. I have started to take my dog for short walks. My pedometer on my phone says I average 1,456 steps a day.

I'm hoping to just get under 200. I'm at 327 and out of control. I want to/need to change. I have used this app but I'm new to this community.
