  • I'm in! Current average is 5k but I want to up that - 10,000 steps, here I come!!!!
  • My 2017 motivational motto is: There are seven days in the week and "Someday" ISN'T ONE OF THEM!! Today you are one day closer to a fit, healthy YOU - you're gonna do great. Keep your focus on small loses - 1 pound a week, 5 pounds a month - it adds up quickly and at the end of this year you're looking at a loss of 50-60…
  • I lost a little over 20 lbs early last year with MFP, got lazy & put 17 of it back on. I'm turning 50 in 13 days & because of a motivational poster I saw recently, decided this year it's do it or quit whining about it! The poster was: There are seven days in a week and "Someday" ISN'T ONE OF THEM! So I re-connected with…
  • Shanda Sanders here - New Year, new determination, old goals. I successfully lost 20 lbs last spring with MFP, then got lazy & put 17 back on! I'm turning 50 in 23 days & I'm sick & tired of telling myself that "someday" I'll get back to a healthy weight! I saw an inspirational poster recently that hit home for me: There…
  • Isabelle, gonna miss you, but I know you're going to be just fine. smiley: It sounds like you've had your "Ah ha" moment & you've got it all figured out! Kris, won't they let ya take a 1/2 day?!?? I know you were looking forward to that run! :/ I'm still working up to running - still walking at a quick pace, but I already…
  • Beautiful day today! Spent 2 hours on the water kayaking, then went fishing & walked around the lake!! 5 months ago I couldn't have physically handled today - I'd have passed out from exhaustion by now. My muscles, although I may be sore in the morning, feel GREAT right now! I'm sooo proud of me & how far I have…
  • Hi All!! Recent connectivity issues with my "smart" phone have kept me from being able to log into the blog, but that's all worked out now! I've been catching up on the entries I missed and I have to say Isabelle, your update blew me away. "Of course, it's not as impressive as HUGE weight loss but I was still surprised to…
  • Good Afternoon, Ladies!! I hope everyone has had a fabulous day!!! Another day in the trenches here - BUT, I avoided the cheese dip & tortilla chips and chose a serving of almonds instead. Then I avoided the urge to eat out at lunch and ate what I brought instead. THEN, I avoided the new bag of mixed chocolates that our…
  • OK Mrs. Allen - no more prognostication!!! Your prediction of a "slow day" went down the drain quickly!!! I have been blowing and going since I got to my office this morning... I'll look at the bright side and imagine all the calories I'm burning! - My latest habit (3 days in a row now) is to get up 20 minutes…
  • I changed my evening workout to a stretch yoga session today... it didn't burn as many calories (yet, I'm still slow & unsteady) BUT, it stretched my muscles & has me very, very relaxed! The last few days it's been relatively easy to stay within my calorie limit for the day, but today, even without added exercise, I have…
  • Getting back into the habit of morning & evening workouts. Finally shaken that feeling of total exhaustion leftover from the flu! & glad to see it go! I've been doing really well with my food intake, but suddenly I'm having serious salty food cravings - not sure where that's popped up from, but dried edamame takes care of…
  • Broke down and bought the Zumba starter kit. My oldest daughter, Nicole, and I spent 25 minutes on the "how to" disc this morning and we're going to complete it tonight. So far, it is very fun and engaging - we're both looking forward to the next set of dance moves. I'm happy to report that, contrary to popular belief, she…
  • Still "recovering" from Type B flu and just bull-headed enough to think I should be bouncing back faster than this!! Was able to do Wii for 30 minutes morning & evening yesterday, but I feel like I ran the New York Marathon!! It's the feeling of exhaustion in my bones (which I know is the flu talking) that is so…
  • Sorry I missed checking in yesterday, ladies, but I spent a little over 2 hours at the doctor's office to find out I have the flu: AGAIN! Type B, this time & the worst symptom (so far) is the unceasing chills!!! Bundled in sweats, under blankets & my teeth are chattering - oh well, guess the up side is, shivering burns…
  • GOOD MORNING!!! I pushed myself this morning and did 45 minutes instead of only 30 - I ate a good breakfast and gave myself a little extra time to enjoy my first of only two cups of coffee I'll have today! Other than a crick in my neck (don't know how I slept last night but I'm feeling it), I'm otherwise feeling good! I'm…
  • Hi, Jane! Would love to hear all about your scuba experience - it is on my bucket list once I don't look like a beached whale in a wet suit! It is exciting to hear that you have come so far with your asthma in 18 months and I have faith that as you progress you will see even more improvements! Keep up the good…
  • @ElisonJade has there been a change in the fit of your clothes? For me, the number on the scale hasn't moved in about a week and a half, BUT my clothes are fitting differently - looser, less constricting and I'm noticing that my shape is changing (not just round  but with a few curves in the right places). Also, I'm…
  • Hello Everyone! My name is Shanda & I am a daughter, sister, mother, Nana, girlfriend... who has had a love/hate relationship with food (ok, mostly love, love, LOVE) all my adult life. I'm 48 yo, 5'6" tall & many peeps are surprised to find I weigh over 200 lbs. Thanks to good genes, I have always carried weight well -…
  • Good Morning! New to the group (Kris, aka @Mrsallen6_11‌) is my youngest daughter and recommended the group. I've been a MyFitnessPal / FitBit user since the end of December and I'm loving both. I'm off to a slow start on my own (-15 lbs. & 55 more to go) and look forward to sharing the journey and contributing to the…
  • I'm new to Fitbit - I've had my Zip for two weeks - & new to groups. I work a desk job, very sedentary for 7 to 8 hours a day. I got my fit to help motivate me to get up & move. Already I've increased my daytime steps by 1000 steps, & that's before I go to the track to put in my 30 minutes! So far, loving my Fitbit! :D
