I am three days without alcohol, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it is for me! You see, I work in a winery (I may want to rethink that), so I am around it all the time. I want to reduce my alcohol consumption, because it has become a 'crutch' - a way to spend the evening even when I am alone. I don't like waking up in…

I'm finding this winter to be especially tough, too! Same problem with binging at night. The flu is terrible; you really need to give yourself lots of time for recovery. It can be several weeks until you really feel better. Being here (and being honest) is the best thing - everyone here is so helpful and supportive.…

JFT - 1/21/18 recap Drink 8 glasses of water :) Log all food/stay in the green :'( My day was going so well until I poured that second glass of wine. Then the munchies hit and all bets were off! I have to remember that wine does that to me, and I need to keep potato chips out of the house! Meditate for 10 minutes :) Get…

@clicketykeys I use the Headspace app. Right now I am following the Anxiety pack, a 30 day program. Meditation is so worthwhile, but keep in mind that you will feel like you are doing it wrong. Keep going, progress creeps up on you!

I like the veggie goal! I think I need to incorporate this at some point going forward. Thanks!

JFT - 1/20/18 recap Drink 8 glasses of water :) Log all food eaten :) Meditate for 10 minutes :) Get 10,000 steps :) Had to do laps around the living room again tonight, but that's okay. I made it! No fast food (I've already planned out my food for the day) :D I am very pleased to report that I resisted temptation, even…

I started listening to the 10% Happier podcast with Dan Harris. He talks about meditation and says that the only bad meditator is the one who doesn't do it! It is a life long practice. My cat often jumps on me in the middle of my meditation (which usually scares me half to death)! But I take a deep breath and continue.…

Exercise is never a waste! If you are having lots of food cravings at night, try to get more protein during the day. I find that it curbs cravings. Also, make lunch your biggest meal. I think sometimes we try to save our calories for treats, but then we haven't eaten enough during the day (it happens to me). Then we are…

Sometimes being kind to yourself is the best thing for your body! Hope you enjoyed your nap (I'm a napper, too).

This is a great thread! Just the kind of accountability I've been looking for. JFT - 1/17/18 Drink 8 glasses of water Log all food eaten Meditate for 10 minutes Get 8000 steps (it's snowing here today, so going not going to make 10,000) There are many more goals I'd like to work on, but going to take this one day at a time!

@fidangul Food poisoning is no joke, and it can take weeks to fully recover as your gut flora gets all messed up in the process! Take it easy, rest. Listen to your body and feed it well. Hoping you feel better soon!

I'm in! Start weight: 137 Goal: 135 I plan to continue my regular walking schedule (4 to 5 half-hours walks per week) plus aim to hit 10,000 steps per day. Thanks everyone for the good advice. Another issue for me is the hubby. He is currently unemployed, and I fear he is drinking too much. I know how difficult this time is for him (as well as our entire family), but when I mention how much he drinks, he says he needs it. I would love for him to join me in Sober Sept (and…

My habit has been when 8 pm rolls around, I pour a glass of wine (or 2) and catch up on my shows via Roku. Need to break this cycle. Any suggestions?

I am so glad I found this group! I work in a winery, so wine is a part of my daily routine. It is so tempting to have a glass at the end of my shift, and I know I have more than 7 servings per week. Would like to greatly reduce or even quit cold turkey. Am sure I would feel better and healthier. Looking for encouragement…

@CoachJen71 Finding a passion or hobby is a great idea to get out of thinking about food and exercise all the time! I have been decluttering my house for several months now - basement, kitchen, closets, garage. I have had 2 yard sales so far and donated boxes to Goodwill. It is a good feeling! Good luck with learning sign…
