I have two hands so the obvious answer is BOTH.

Well that settles it. The pot luck needs to be held at the sprawling estate of @French_Peasant.

Holy hell. What an accomplishment. Amazing job, my friend.

Yes, this is correct. They don't necessarily follow the laws of the Torah. They are vegetarians/vegans with no alcohol, smoking, or other "bad habits" in their lives. Their founders encouraged little to no meat consumption and it's become a standard.

So two summers I ordered two pairs of swim trunks from Amazon because my bf at the time liked swimming and wanted me to try it out and see if I liked it. When they arrived, I tried them on and couldn't slide them up past my thighs. They were what I thought was my size my size but apparently I was being cradled by the…

Agree with this. I've been closely associated with Loma Linda and Seventh Day Adventism myself, though I am not a member and their members are, by and large, atypically fit and healthy, long-lived, and the quality of their life into the latter years is amazing. At one church service, we just acknowledged a woman who is…

Ugh! The sentiments in this article are why so many of us are fat/still fat. Until you suck it up and do the hard work and stop comparing yourself, your progress, your life, or anything else to anyone else, you'll still tread water. That last bit of her gazing wistfully at thin people eating "bad foods" just got my goat. I…

Yup. It's never an easy thing to hear but, if it's true, and coming from someone you love, it might be in your best interest to heed those words.

I think you are absolutely right. One of my dear friends in college got WLS and dropped 200 pounds in a year. She looked great and had relatively few complications with the surgery, though none of them are fun. I just saw her at a concert we were singing together and she has gained it all back and more. At the after…

Cilantro is of the gods! You walk that hashtag back right now, cilantro hater. :D Seriously though, I know it's not for some people. My sister can't even stand the smell of it and we are both from a Latin culture that uses it frequently and in large amounts in meals.

For me it's sleep. My losses stall for irritating amounts of time when I don't sleep well.

Now I want to try Branston pickle with my crackers -_-

Actual kryptonite. It drains my power until I'm immobile. REALLY annoying.
-
Yup, I log it. Then I gasp at the number of calories, clutch my pearls, and vow never to drink that many calories again. Then of course I do it again.
-
For me it would be to eat apples in any form.

If eating excess calories is your coping mechanism for stress than you will gain weight. I'm dealing with high levels of stress in my life right now and I want to eat ALL the things. I've been successful in resisting and have found that exercising helps not only relieve stress but provide me with some few extra calories…

Once again I agree with a post from @GottaBurnEmAll. Extremes of any kind lead to disordered eating, disordered living, and ultimately failure. Moderation wins the race as the hare learned all too clearly.

Koreans make a snack out of the burnt rice at the bottom of the pan called norunji(sp) My best friend taught me that. It's delicious.
-
Yup, this is me. I still haven't learned to catch it when the eating habits go south. It's usually about the time I go looking for a clean dish and notice the sink is full and I have a slice of pizza in my hand that I realize all is not well in Siegfriedland

Wait, what? Must...find...it...now. Seriously though. Alcohol are the only calories I'll drink. Otherwise it's Diet Coke or water.

My data is purely anecdotal but here we go: - When I restrict calories, I feel much better. Clearer mind, less anxiety, better sleep - When I exercise, my depression symptoms improve markedly, even from just getting my 10k steps in. On the days that I don't, I have less energy and spend more time in my own head - I've also…

I do this as well for our work salad bar. Just swap out the protein choice for the day. Veggies remain the same unless they're out of something.

I can relate to this. People quite literally called me "the jolly big dude." That guy is dead. Now I'm driven, controlling, and not nearly as pleasant. I'm not sure I like the change and it's created a lot of strain in my relationships, including my marriage sometimes. I'm hoping that as I approach my goal and relax…

This again....

Not to beat a dead, or dumpy horse, but context is everything. If my dad told me I was getting dumpy (btw, he has) I would take it as coming from a family member concerned about me. Some a$$hat on the street calling me dumpy has no entree into my life or circumstances and therefore no right to say it. The motives are…

I never implied that actually. In fact, I mentioned social media as a possible culprit. I also think that mental illness plays a role in what the bullying causes re:escalation. I wouldn't want to give the impression that I am unsymathetic. I'm just genuinely puzzled as to what makes some people take severe, actual,…

Bullying is such a strange topic for me. I was bullied mercilessly in school. I was the fat, short, effeminate kid all the way through school, with glasses, braces, and a bad haircut my mom gave me at home once a month. Every day was torture but I still went to school. I maintained a 4.0 and went off to college as soon as…

Yawn....another former fatty who's turned the self hate they had for themselves while obese into a judgmental attitude for those still struggling. Look, you don't ever have the right to tell someone they're too fat. YOUR obesity ALSO affected EVERYONE while you were obese and if you got a kick in the pants and fixed it,…

I cannot stand most fruit. I especially cannot stand apples and raspberries. They're just....wrong. I like blueberries, cherries, strawberries, lemons, limes, and the occasional orange. Anything else is a big nope. I'm glad they aren't essential because I'd be one grumpy eater.

Oh yes, acquaintances and people at my different singing jobs have asked if I have cancer, or if I contracted HIV. Never me directly but I've been told by those asked. It boggles my mind.
