  • I love my mirena! I did bleed/spot for an entire month after insertion which sucked but I haven't had my period since then (over a year now) so I think it was worth it. The insertion itself just felt like some bad cramps but that didn't last long for me. I'm going to be extra bummed next time I have a period because my…
  • https://youtu.be/C8ialLlcdcw I like this video explanation!
  • I was a size 12 in 8th grade when I weighed ~165 lbs and was 5'5" tall and a decade later I'm still a size 12 at ~185 lbs and 5'6" which I think is interesting. I'm wondering if losing 30 lbs will mean going down 2-3 sizes for me? It will be cool to be wearing a smaller clothing size than I was in middle school.
  • I like making plain popcorn (I microwave corn kernels in a brown lunch bag) and tossing them with different spice mixtures. Chili and lime is my current favorite. The calories when made without oil are pretty low, especially for the volume!
  • I made the mistake of taking the "you can eat whatever you want" part and ignoring the "within reason part" for a while and ended up eating 500+ calories of cookies or other treats leaving me with ~1000 calories for filling foods. That just left me grumpy and hungry. Still lost weight but it was miserable and now I'm much…
  • I cut back on added sugar but I was eating quite a bit of it when I first started logging. The key for me was finding reasonable replacements for my cravings. Like with soda I just crave flavored bubbly water and not necessarily the sugar content so I can get away with drinking la croix instead. Sometimes a piece of fruit…
  • Thanks for this post! It's hard to sort through all the broscience floating around. When I first started myfitnesspal years ago I relied heavily on their blog to learn about nutrition and weight loss but unfortunately picked up incorrect info there too. The forums have been a great resource though! I've learned so much…
  • I love costco! but between samples and the pizza, a visit ends up being a lot of calories!! I get the hotdog since it is cheap and filling. I skip the soda or only partially fill it now that I know how many calories are in that size. I have no idea how to calculate the sample calories though so I guesstimate those... I…
  • I love frozen meals. Work gets hectic and being able to pop something into the microwave is ideal. There are usually a couple frozen trader joes meals in my house at all times (I love the chicken tikka masala). I don't worry about salt or preservatives because frozen food isn't the bulk of what I'm eating (mostly for money…
  • I have similar stats/goals, feel free to add me! 5'6 and I want to lose ~40 lbs to get to a normal bmi
  • If you're moving less definitely track your food on here for a while to get a sense of how much you should be eating now. A food scale is very helpful to learn correct portion sizes. I found recording absolutely everything I ate normally for a few weeks and adjusting a little bit at a time from there was what worked for me…
  • I struggle with anxiety and depression too. I've been afraid lately that I'll give up on weight loss next time my depression gets really bad again because that's part of what's stopped me from reaching my goals in the past. I'm working on getting mental health help, making sustainable lifestyle changes that hopefully I can…
  • Ugh good bye February! I got the flu too and I hardly left my bed for a solid week. My body weight scale broke and I bought a kitchen scale instead since I'm a little tight on money at the moment. I'm trying to trust the process and focus on eating the correct amount of calories instead of obsessing over my weight for a…
  • I realized I've had this account since 2012 the other day. I've probably tried once every year or two since then to lose weight. This is my longest streak since then and I've lost over 10 lbs. It took a lot of sorting through bs diet industry info to realize I just need CICO to lose weight. Things that are different now vs…
  • lol I gained weight from too many dessert and french fry calories. The stuff I make at home isn't nearly as yummy and fun to eat :D . I never could understand how my roommate could keep the same pint of ben and jerrys in our freezer for multiple months without gobbling it down immediately though. my roommates cats might…
  • Yes I'm trying to eat to reach my calorie goals. that's why I want to calculate uneaten food at meals so I can eat the calories later in the day instead. I usually just compost leftovers from meals instead of saving them for later depending on how much is left and if I like it enough (I try not to waste too much food but…
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I'm still new at logging, especially by weight, so I guess I need to work on cooking the right amount for me. I'm having the most trouble with leftover grains since it's uncooked weight vs cooked but I will work on my guestimation techniques.
  • Congrats! You totally deserve to self congratulate  And thanks for this post! I've been overweight since childhood and could never really do makeup like my friends because of my eyelids. I never realized it was because of excess weight. Looking forward to seeing how my face changes after I lose more weight.
  • Hey! I'm 24 and recently graduated college with a degree in biology. I'm working towards being the best version of myself. My goal this year is to lose 30 lbs and start powerlifting. Favorite fitness activities are hiking, kayaking, and boxing. Feel free to add me as a friend!
  • Same here! I ate a lot on valentines day and... just kept eating... A LOT. Decided to take a weekend off of strict logging after a binge episode that was hard to calculate and work on meal prepping some high volume healthy foods for this week to help me stay full. The important part is to keep sticking with it! Hope this…
  • You look amazing!! I'm 24 right now and want to lose the same amount. Working to be as strong and fit by the time I'm 26
  • Congrats on your progress so far! Feel free to add me, I'm always looking for supportive friends :)
  • I like kombucha a lot! I don't really drink it for the health benefits, it's just yummy and low in calories compared to soda. I was already eating yogurt and other probiotic foods so I haven't noticed a difference since drinking it.. Brew dr kombucha is the brand I've been buying. Or I get it from generous friends who…
  • This is one of the things I'm curious about. I'm still in the process of losing weight but I've been heavy my entire life so I wonder if/how things will change. I doubt friends and family will treat me any different but I don't know how interactions with strangers will be..
  • I'm taking a class on weightlifting at my local gym next month and I'm excited to learn the basics! Super interested in starting a program that uses a barbell. Never thought I'd want to get into weightlifting but now I can't wait. Right now I'm doing bodyweight exercises 2-3x a week.
  • Good luck!! I'm trying to lose a similar amount
  • Hi! I'm 24. feel free to add me, my diary is open to friends
  • I'm always looking for meal inspiration too :) Love the cat in your photo!
  • Hi! I went to school in NorCal and then moved farther North to Oregon... but California is always home to me. Good luck on your journey!
  • Hi! welcome! I love harry potter, I used to play quidditch in college haha. Unfortunately my cabinet under the kitchen sink just leads to mildew (but I've always got an eye for magical portals) and my roommate's cats just learned how to open them. Right now my exercise has been walking too. I'll send you a request!
