For my bacon and breakfast sausage fix, my go to brand is Morningstar Farms. After taste testing, I find the crunchiness and taste of their products is the best for my palate. There are other options out there, including vegan ones for those who want to cut down on the carcinogens and still get their crunch-sweet-smoky-salty fix. I've also tried the following recipe for vegan bacon using firm tofu, and it's pretty darn tasty.

Regarding the real thing: I'll still eat it occasionally. In case no one noticed, life is a terminal illness and none of us are getting out of this alive.7 -

Thanks for this post! It's hard to sort through all the broscience floating around. When I first started myfitnesspal years ago I relied heavily on their blog to learn about nutrition and weight loss but unfortunately picked up incorrect info there too. The forums have been a great resource though! I've learned so much this year from other members.
I've been watching Healthcare Triage videos on youtube lately. The channel talks about all sorts of healthcare topics and discusses the research in an easy to understand way. Being able to understand the studies (or lack of them) behind the claims people make has made me much less gullible (I hope!).
