  • Blah - I reeeeeeally wanted chips (that's UK chips - US fries) when I got home from work this evening... so I had chips, lots of chips... humph! Ah well - I also made a spreadsheet to track weekly net calories, with groovy automatic cell colouring based on the calculated weekly average: green for yay!, red for whoops...…
  • So much good running being done by all! Sadly, I'm totally behind for my March total - went to aerobics on Monday night and injured my knee (felt like someone had sliced it with a machete just above and on the outside of my left knee cap... grrr... ) Still feels "odd", like it's a bit unstable - going upstairs is OK but…
  • Hey Sabine - sorry to hear you suffered with the crash! I haven't noticed anything yet but I had been preparing myself with various supplements beforehand, although I don't have the bioidentical progesterone I had read that it might be needed. Can I ask all you ladies that had the Mirena removed - did any of you suffer…
  • Really low-tech, but mine's a metal veg steamer basket that I can just pop in a pan when I need it.
  • Wow alf - you look great!!! I'd have assumed you were mum and daughter not grandma and granddaughter :) Cute photo! ETA: I really liked San Antonio - I went there for a conference a few years ago... seemed like it would be a nice place to live.
  • Bwahahahahaaa... this is what I do anyway (the food context, not (necessarily) the other track this thread has taken ;) ) - I don't eat breakfast until I get to work and a banana is a handy, pre-packaged, yummy breakfast food, and I like them. Turns out I invented a "diet" without even knowing it LOL! :D P.S. I don't eat…
  • Being a very active recreational ballet dancer, and runner, up to age 37 - then injury, and surgery to fix the injury, stopped me in my tracks and made me virtually immobile while I recovered... BUT I forgot to stop eating at my pre-injury levels - hey presto... 2 stone weight gain. So, basically... eating too much, moving…
  • Oh, allenpriest - I'm so sorry to hear your dreadful news! My thoughts are with you.
  • Hi - I had my Mirena removed on 13th February this year. I had many of the classic problems that seem to be associated with Mirena - hair loss, acne on my jaw line and boils on my neck, no libido AT ALL, bloating, puffy face and a ring of flab around my middle, (mmm - attractive!). I felt great after the removal (had read…
  • For the past fours days it's been the same thing: Liquorice Toffees - just had a sudden yearning for them on Wednesday and bought a packet. Have been eating them in 40 g portions. Just finished the bag - so that's me done!
  • Hey ho Cool Kids! Happy Monday :) Staying on track is going to be tough this week - I've got collaborators visiting at work all week and we'll have to take them out for dinner at least twice during the week. Going to have to eat carefully and try to fit in some runs after late returns home from work! @Curiousgeorgianna -…
  • Goodness - that is one cute baby! Lovely! Congratulations... again :) She (?) looks very alert for a new born (my apologies - I'm assuming Ainsley is being used as a girl's name).
  • Depends what you mean by "make a difference". I think it's fairly well known that there is no difference in nutritional profile between organic and non-organic produce - any difference will lie the in possible amount of chemical residues to which you subject your body. I live in the UK where the pesticide residue…
  • 01 Mar - 2.56 02 Mar - 2.00 03 Mar - rest 04 Mar - 5.02 05 Mar - rest 06 Mar - rest 07 Mar - 1.83 08 Mar - 6.22 (10K :) ) nice steady run with the last of the sun and just as it set and dusk fell... was running towards a pedestrian walking in the opposite direction heading towards me, thinking he had seen/heard me. Got…
  • ^^^ you are so right, Danilynn1975!
  • @Danilynn1975 - that's why I was interested too! I'm an analytical chemist and weigh out milligrams or micrograms of compounds on a regular basis :)
  • I do see the OP's point though - just as a matter of interest. I wouldn't have expected that amount of fluctuation in the space of 7 minutes. If the scales were to be believed - the OP gained 3.3 lbs in the space of 5 minutes (08:32 to 08:37)... and then lost almost all of it again 2 minutes later. Yes, of course - weigh…
  • I would like to join this happy, friendly place too - I've NEVER been a "cool kid" in my life! Always was, still am and always will be a science nerd :D I'm 44, one hubby, one dog, no kids. Haven't read the whole thread - but from the past few pages... @alf1163 - hope your injury clears up soon, I know little niggles can…
  • 01 Mar - 2.56 miles 02 Mar - 2.00 miles 03 Mar - rest 04 Mar - 5.02 miles 05 Mar - rest 06 Mar - rest 07 Mar - 1.83 miles Just a tiny trot out today - trying out some new shoes... they seem good, but they're just updated versions of my old favourites and luckily they haven't changed much from version four to version five.
  • Goal: 60 01 March = 2.56 miles 02 March = 2.00 miles 04 March = 5.02 miles - did an out and back route... accidentally stopped my Garmin at half way instead of hitting the lap button - so annoyed as the second half felt faster than the first and I very rarely manage negative splits... ah well!
  • Sorry - no!!! It's great that you're trying to make a go of your own business, but the number of people who talk about going commando when running/working out makes it totally unpalatable.
  • 01 March 2015: 2.56 miles 02 March 2015: 2.0 miles - just a quick dash today as I run to and from my aerobics class, luckily it's exactly 0.9 miles from my house to the college where the class takes place then I run up and down the Close outside my house, like a right fool, to make it up to 2 miles :) Lots of good running…
  • Ha! I'm the same - I've been doing MFP off and on for a couple of years... found the Communities now and hopefully can use them to make me a bit more accountable or sticking to my goals.
  • Today was going to be a rest day - but I didn't want to miss posting on the first day of the challenge! :) 2.56 miles done - easy with 5 fartleks. Very well done @ddmom0811 on your fantastic 5K result! Good running everyone...
  • My goal this year is the Great North Run (half) in September - plenty of time so I want to train PROPERLY for it this time! Specifically, I'd like to aim for 2:15:00 (slow, I know - but would be good for me!).
  • More common sense from herrspoons.
  • LOL :o (Other things aside!!!) Yeah - I'm not saying you can get rid of it - I'm saying the approach I used to help my muscles recover also improved the appearance of my cellulite compared with doing the same amount of exercise and not heating and cooling my skin :)
  • Also not religious, but use Lent as a nice, well defined length of time to give up a specific food - this year I've given up crisps... they are usually my absolute weakness!
  • Echo what everyone else has said - you can't spot reduce it, but one thing that has helped me with the appearance of my thighs is using a hand-held shower head in the bath or shower and after your normal ablutions blast your thighs with as hot water as you can stand for about 10-20 seconds followed by freezing cold water…
  • Well - I use coconut oil because I love it... but I love all things "coconutty"! I used to get a coconut for Christmas every year as a child - I have to buy my own coconuts now (booooo Santa) :D It's delicious as a butter/margarine substitute on toast, with a drizzle of clear honey - but I make sure I eat within my limits…
