• my opinion is that if the gym is more or less empty and your not going to make anyone wait then there's no reason not to use the squat rack for any lift you'd like, especially if there is no alternative equipment. I can only imagine that the reason people would assume its a bad etiquette to do this is because they see…
• its surprising how taxing yoga can be if you've never done it. I'd recommend a suspension trainer for inexpensive, versatile home resistance equipment that takes up virtually no space.
• been doing this for years
• its not a bad little product. for the most part resistance is resistance. you'll get 'who know's how much' increased benefit from using free weights... but the most effect piece of exercise equipment it the one you use. its a pretty small foot print for all the things you can do. also check out suspension trainers for a…
• you'll want to choose a rep range based on your goals. then you choose a weight that has you at least approaching failure in the rep range.
• Hey, when you guys get all the way up to 135 crunches, try doing a few sets of leg raises before your crunches and see how many crunches you can do. you should reach the point were you can't do any more crunches well before 135. so you get more benefit in less time. plus 135 reps of anything is kinda pointless. good luck!
• I think if there is any truth to the set point thing, it has more to do with the fact that this is simply the end result of the habits you are most comfortable with, and less so due to some body weight set by genetics (although genetics will play a strong role in your behavior as well).
• Also curious to know the quality of the discomfort
• I like this answer too
• OK I meant that one then lol
•
I know you crossfitters ignore that. You still shouldn't.
seems like the power lifters are more into this, during competition at least
• probably the smartest thing to do is just work a pre and or post workout meal with protein in it into your calorie plan for the day. if for some reason that's to much work or doesn't suit you then fine, but if not, why not?
• the common sense rule applies here, pretty much all exercise is good for you, and all exercise is potentially harmful if you over do it.
• its probably best to consume protein sometime around the time you work out. but I would say that just getting adequate protein (whatever that is) during the day at anytime would still result in growth (assuming your doing everything else right), but maybe not optimal.
• I don't think carefully doing anything is going to result in injury. if these are adjustable dumb bells they will break easily and, as mentioned above, basically all dumb bells are more fragile then you might think
• ^^ maybe under the new affordable care act, but in the past those people would have made to much to qualify for Medicaid and would basically be screwed out of health insurance.
• there are two things most highly correlated with SES, the first being where you start, and the other being years of education.... The first one you obviously have no control over, and while you do have more control over the second... I would say that those not born into it certainly have to work harder to achieve things.
• probably any fool can do 'difficult labor' if they are able bodied. its skilled labor that should demand higher pay, which I believe is what your getting at here
• the important part of that statement is every level. the argument really applies to everyone who's not a CEO
• if you are rolling with the rolling pin thing on your claves standing up... it probably hurt more because your calve muslces were contracted and under load. I don't think you will get quite the same benefit this way as if the muscle was relaxed when you rolled it. it would be a little more comfortable at least. personally,…
• I've only used mine in hotel rooms... you could see a hint of an impression but you really had to look for it to see it.
• if the concern is that your going to pull the door frame down, I think you're probably ok but I'm not very savy on those things. there is a possibility that you could dig into the door frame, but if you put a rag over the contact points it would help prevent damage... and hopefully still stay on well
• I would just leave him alone. sounds like he's been doing this for years... but if that's true I would hope he could do a little more then an inch on his pull up. unless its somewhat obvious that he's new, then I'd strike up the conversation.
