  • Still pushing for 215 for my next progress pic. Refocused my goals to prioritize physical fitness as important as losing weight. Progress is slow as I tweak how much I strength train/eat so I don't feel starved/crabby but still maintain a calorie deficit.
  • Finished my 7th weightlifting session this morning. Nice to have my body adjust to the program more. So far I have worse DOMS in my arm from my flu shot yesterday than benching haha.
  • Get to the 210's in the next month. Not very far away :).
  • Worked out hard enough today to get exercise endorphins. Haven't done that in a while. It was amazing. Been concentrating on pure weight loss for a year. Time to get a good fitness base now.
  • It has been an entire year I have been living a better life. Previous longest was five months. Feeling really good about that. It's a major NSV for me! In those twelve months I consumed approximately 262,500 calories less than I burned. Obese class 2 to overweight bmi. I mainly focused on pure weight loss over fitness but…
  • I'm over 2/3 of the way to goal weight and I just feel triumphant this morning. Had a super sexy nsv with my wife last night. It's nice to be the pursued one :).
  • That water weight can affect how your pants fit...as a guy. I knew women had trouble with bloat because of their monthly cycle. But for me to have to put my belt up a notch for a week until I had my water weight whoosh was eye opening. I'm still on the high end of overweight bmi too!
  • I would like to lose 5-10 pounds more pounds before I go on an airplane in a month. Visiting my brother in Florida and I want to wear a size down pair of shorts I found on clearance. He is more style oriented than I am and I want to see his reaction when I show up in a pair of non khaki non cargo shorts.
  • I deal with depression and anxiety also. Sticking to the plan is really really hard some days. This go around with weight loss has been my most successful because I am learning to celebrate my failures. Five days ago I had a rough day. I went 400-500 calories over my daily goal. My mind tried to get me to feel guilty the…
  • That my scrawny 3 year old will be eating more calories in a day (crazy growth spurts lately) than I will.
  • Two goals this week. Do as well in my calorie goals as I did last week. Check in with my support group (my dad and younger brother - we've lost a combined 260+ pounds so far).
  • My favorite reward I came up with was shaving my beard off. I had not seen what my face looked like without facial hair in six years. It was a treat seeing myself in a new perspective. It has almost grown all the way back now (way too much work to shave everyday). So my suggestion is to change something about your…
  • By the end of July I want to be under 250. A little over four pounds to go. Then to hit 244 which is as low as I got six years ago the last time I was serious about losing weight. I also have two fitness goals. To keep rehabilitating my feet so I can walk a 5k (up to 2 miles atm) and bike 6 miles pulling 65 pounds of…
  • Have a few to share. Was comfortable enough to give my biggest T-Shirts away to my Mother in Law to use as nightgowns. Had enough energy yesterday to clean the entire main floor of my townhouse. In the past I have run out of steam long before I finish (Mother in Law visiting might have inspired some motivation  ).…
  • Have you ramped up your exercise recently? Every time I do more than I'm used to I'm starving the next 1-3 says.
  • Went out for a couple beers with a friend. Usually I only get this sweeter tasting beer called Honey Weiss but my taste buds have changed and I really enjoyed two new kinds I would have really disliked before. Still don't like the really bitter beers though. It's amazing how reducing the amount of sugar/salt/msg I consume…
  • How the mirror at home can make me feel like I'm still morbidly obese (I'm down 70 pounds now from my heaviest) but I can see how much less of me there is at the movie theater bathroom mirrors.
  • Couple quick tips. For me mild exercise (light walking and such) can be an appetite suppressant but overdoing it really makes me hungry. Keep food off of counters and hidden away behind a cupboard door. Out of sight really helps. Eat more nutrient/fiber dense food and eat a wider variety of food. If you are a weigh…
  • Had to go through my wardrobe again to pack away all of the too big items. That is the second time this year! I now only have two items with a 3XL label. They are pajama pants I got this past Christmas and I'm not quite ready to part with them yet.
  • Someone tell me why the sizes have changed so drastically? Easy- people don't want to buy the larger numbers so the manufacturers have changed the sizing. [/quote] @dramaqueen45 I read an article that it isn't so much "vanity sizing" but "size inflation". Manufacturers will occasionally take sample measurements of their…
  • Experiment and find out what works for you. Good form/conditioning/diet/rest are all waaaaay more important than the shoes you wear. Listen to your body. If how you run is causing you pain, then change up different variables one at a time to figure out why. If what you are doing now is working, why fix it?
  • As an obese man who wants to run but couldn't because of heel pain I put in some time doing research. Read a couple books and put in at least 6+ hours perusing various running websites. Here are some of the general things I have heard. Have not had much opportunity to use them because I am gradually transitioning myself to…
  • @tjcuts339 I love seeing your posts for two reasons. #1 - they are always so positive and #2 - with all the periods that get added to your posts (for whatever reason, technology is weird) I always hear them in my head as if it was Christopher Walken talking. Cracks me up.
  • I squatted using water shoes the other day. They were very inexpensive. Plus the thin soles let me feel grounded and stable because I could spread my toes out (which I can't do in Chucks).
  • Don't wait to find the "perfect" diet, weightlifting, or exercise regimen before you start out. Eat less and move more is both extremely simple and infinitely complicated. Learn what works for you. Not what a book/blog/salesman/friend insists upon. Don't ignore your body. Its perfectly fine to feel the burn but sharp pains…
  • I had two yesterday. #1: My wife and I were doing the "it has been a really long day" hug and we both spent about 5 seconds rearranging our arms because the old way of holding our arms didn't work anymore. Our arms were looped too large. #2: I was feeling stressed out and instead of retreating to an empty room to watch TV…
  • Reached a personal goal of mine and rewarded myself by going through my wardrobe. I will now have clothes in storage that are too big for me not just totes full of too small clothes. Some of the shirts I took out of storage are in that sweet spot where they fit just right. They show off how much weight I have already lost…
  • Some things I have noticed after being morbidly obese and losing a little over 10% of my body mass in the past year. 1. I was in denial about being in 4XL clothing. I kept thinking 3XL is not a good place to be in but at least I don't have to wear 4XL shirts. The "3XL" shirts I was wearing were vanity sized and much bigger…
  • A couple tips. My wife knows I am sexually attracted to her when she weighs 170 or 260 and seven months pregnant. Make sure your girlfriend knows this through both your words AND deeds. For us trust and two way communication are vital to maintaining our love. One Ill timed or poorly considered remark can outweigh fifty…
  • I would say a 100 calorie a day deficit is too low mainly because your margin of error for calorie counting needs to be higher. Even if you weigh your food exactly and get the right nutrition information there is a 20% deviance allowed by law on the labels. A 250 calorie deficit is much more forgiving.
