  • A rest day may be the best thing for you, especially if you've been working out a lot. Maybe take a day to relax on the couch with some tv, or do something else you enjoy. If you still want to stay moving, maybe try out a new exercise. When I can't bring myself to go to the gym but know I at least need to get moving, I do…
  • This happens to me each month. Even though my diet and exercise don't change, I'll gain several pounds and my stomach will be very bloated right before and during my TOM. However, right after, it goes back to normal. Just last week I "gained" 4.6 pounds and kept it on for days. All of a sudden I got a "woosh" of weight off…
  • I have a Fitbit Charge and I love it. It syncs right to MFP and calculates any extra calories burnt by steps.
  • Yeah, I haven't lost that much weight yet and I can already tell I'm going to have lots of extra skin for my arms. They're already pretty droopy. I'm hoping at least some of it will tighten up over time. Toning/building muscle should help a little.
  • I usually weigh myself on my cheap bathroom scale daily, which will mostly be the same. It only shows if there's more than like a .1 or .2 difference. However, my Aria scale is a lot more accurate and I use it once a week to log my progress. My bathroom scale I basically just use to check normal fluctuations.
  • Wow, that's fantastic! :) Good to know in case anything ever happens, I have a Fitbit Charge as well. What a great company.
  • If you can find an exercise you enjoy, or at least don't hate, that will help a lot. I've found I really love walking, especially with friends, though that doesn't burn a huge amount of calories. I also really enjoy kickboxing and I've started up classes. Some days I feel lazy, but I still go because the instructor will…
  • It depends on how you buy your rice. For instance, I buy the large bags of rice. They still have nutrition information on them and I just weigh it and track it that way. The same thing should be true for smaller bags or boxes. How are you buying your rice?
  • Um, I've been on this diet for three hours and I've gained 0.6 pounds. What am I doing wrong? I logged it!
  • If you want to fit it in, go for it. I still drink beer, but I usually don't drink more than one or two. If I'm going to be drinking a lot, I usually do vodka and diet sprite, or something else lower calorie than beer. It's CICO and all up to you. Maybe on days you know you want a lot of beer, eat low calorie such as raw…
  • The "whoosh" Me too. I like to use weightgrapher.com which you can add your weight manually or important from another device (such as fitbit). It will tell you how much you've lost in the last month, the last week, and your trending weight. For me, it helps a lot to see that "monthly loss" number because sometimes I don't…
  • Welcome! Stay positive and work hard. You can do it! :)
  • I usually eat cereal or oatmeal. Usually oatmeal only in the fall/winter. You get quick oats that microwave in 2 minutes and you can add any toppings you want (spices, fruit, nuts, etc). I recently discovered adding frozen fruit before microwaving, which is actually really good as well.
  • I know I'm late to the game here, but if it fits in your calories for the day you can eat it. If I'm low on calories and desperate for something sweet, I normally eat chocolate rice cakes or 1-2 frozen chocolate mint cookies. However, some days I save calories for bigger desserts.
  • Sounds so much better in that sense! Thanks for sharing.
  • I had that problem at first because I was trying to eat 100% healthy. If you're eating all salads, veggies, etc it can be hard to hit your goals. However, you shouldn't cut everything out of your diet. Make sure you're eating enough protein and fats. I'm sure if you're under you could bring yourself to eat a cookie at the…
  • Hi! I'm 5'7" and at 175, looking to reach around 140/150. I started at 192, so I'm getting there slowly.
  • I used to try to make myself go to the gym and I hated it. As people keep saying, find something you actually enjoy doing. For example, I started a kickboxing class and I absolutely love it. It's very hard work, but I do look forward to going. I try to go 3-4 times a week and they are hour long classes. They are incredibly…
  • Like other people said, I also picked something in the middle of the normal BMI range. However, I'm not focused on that number. I think I'll know when I get there. I am always looking at the before and after images on tumblr pages I follow and people of different heights, ages, body types, and muscle mass look so different…
  • I actually do something totally opposite. I still have quite a bit of weight to go, but at 1lb a week, it's going to take a while. So every now and then, I buy myself a nice shirt that I really love and that fits well. When I dress in something that I look good in and feel good in, it makes me happy. When I'm happy, I'm…
  • I would normally divide by how many pieces of chicken there are. For example, if the marinade was 100 calories and I put it on 4 pieces of chicken, I would log it as 25 calories. Usually with marinade, there's some left over in the bag/pan/container you used to marinade, so this is an over calculation, but most of the…
  • I'd say play around with your calories. As others have said, you may be eating back too many exercise calories, so either cut back or stop doing that. If you find yourself hungry or weak/tired, just up your calorie intake and maybe aim for 1 pound a week loss instead. I found I was happier and able to exercise more on…
  • This just happened to me too. Stall for like two weeks and then a 3 pounds "whoosh" -- would've liked a bigger whoosh but I'll take it. Congrats on the loss!
  • Wow, congrats on the weight loss! That does sound awkward. I haven't lost enough weight to encounter that, but I'm sure I would be just as uncomfortable. However, try to think of it as a compliment. You've done an amazing job losing the weight, so let people be surprised.
  • I have a similar problem! However, my waist is shrinking but my thighs and butt refuse to cooperate! I have to wear a belt non-stop and have the waist all scrunched up, which is super uncomfortable. I've also been able to wear mostly medium shirts but still wear a size 15 pants. I look like a ridiculous pear.
  • I totally understand how you feel. My starting goal was to lose 50 pounds. It has been about 3 months and I've lost 15lbs so far. Not a super fast weight loss, but steady. My suggestions would be to remember that you may slip up now and then, but one meal or one day will not ruin your weight loss journey. Eat in…
  • I also hate the gym, but I recently started kickboxing classes and I love them. They are an hour long and I go about 3-4 times a week. However, I know not everyone wants to go somewhere or pay for classes. Here's some things I do at home.. 1)What do you do? Blogilates (on youtube, LOVE her), Jump rope, jumping jacks,…
  • Any exercise that will keep you interested! Personally, I started kickboxing classes and I love them. I really hated going to the gym and just using equipment. Also, remember what everyone else said, it is largely your diet as well.
