Lost Pounds, Lost Inch's, Same Clothes..

I am starting this thread because of all the other ones that I have read where when others lost weight they also went down in sizes.. I have lost 18-19lbs now and I haven't changed clothing sizes at all! I along with others have noticed the loss, however, my problem area (tummy) is preventing me from changing sizes. My pants fit in the waist but completely saggy in my butt, crotch and legs. It is very frustrating!! I look like I'm wearing a soggy diaper! I'd just love to hear other similar stories as mine to help me through this annoyance. Thanks for hearing me complain!

You may just need to look for clothes that are styled differently. It sounds like you are an "apple" shape, which means your belly may be that last to go. I have the opposite problem. When pants fit my hips they are generally too loose in the waist. I learned how to take in the waist of clothing while still in high school.
You could also be experiencing bloating from something you are eating, but if this is constant then it's unlikely unless it's somethng you eat every day,0 -
Same as above, I have a big bum and boobs, so while yes they are shrinking and a lot, there are clothes that still fit because they were always very smug on those areas to begin with. The joys of standard clothing for non standard bodies. I'm a seamstress so could alter but I hate altering and I'm reluctant to do something I find tedious until I have lost even more weight!0
-
@VintageFeline I so wish I knew how to alter clothing. I would have been able to avoid this post altogether. LOL Even when I was small I had this issue. When I get down to a size that I am happy with I will have no problem paying someone to alter my jeans to fit just right in all the right areas. Also, I have no BUTT or waist. My belly is the big problem. I'm assuming my belly will be the last to go. Can NOT wait for that day to come!!0

This is my exact problem too. I can do nothing but simply hope that continued weight loss will eventually target that area too. In the meantime, I look a my clown pants with a bit of pride. I used to fill the suckers out and now I could fit another person in them.
Although measurements have told me I've lost a inch in that area. Clothing says differently.
But hey, I have collar bones showing! I never thought they'd see the light of day again.0 -
It is frustrating. By the time I was actually able to buy a new size pants that fit well in the legs and butt, I had to be down two sizes overall. You just have to wait it out.0
-
Yep just have to wait it out, I think I lost about 40lbs and a lot of the shirts I was wearing from before the weight loss were still fitting me, ARG frustrating!!! Now that I am down just over 70 I am finally needing new pants and shirts...0
-
Yes, it's all just a big waiting game. I've learned that while losing weight I have gained more patience! LOL0

I have a similar problem! However, my waist is shrinking but my thighs and butt refuse to cooperate! I have to wear a belt non-stop and have the waist all scrunched up, which is super uncomfortable. I've also been able to wear mostly medium shirts but still wear a size 15 pants. I look like a ridiculous pear.0

You and I are from the Philly area so I'd suggest hitting some of the sales at Kohl's. Or even go to your local Goodwill and you'll see tons of gently used clothing and lots of designer labels. I've noticed that sizes and fit vary wildly from various clothing designers. For example, I normally wear a size 16 in jeans but at Old Navy I can fit comfortably in a size 14. But in dresses and skirts I still need an XL which is about a size 18. This is at the same store, same brand! So it might be fun to explore different designers for fit and size. Plus if you go to Goodwill you can always find clothes for the kids too.0

I actually lost a shoe size once.

I am not sure what size you are, but I know that "plus sizes" like 14 and up can fit people for several sizes. For example- I went from 250 to over 300 and my pant size went from a tight 16 to a well-fitting 18. My sister went from about 130 to 140 and she went from size 2 to size 4. The larger the size, the longer they last it seems. Keep up the good work and you will start seeing the difference.0

I've lost 50lbs. I can still wear most of the same clothes and they aren't even saggy. They fit perfect. I could just cry. Seriously. I put on a pair of shorts over the weekend that I bought before I'd lost any weight and thought to myself I know these will be too big to actually wear. Nope - perfect fit. Super depressing. And if 50lbs doesn't make a damn bit of difference another 20 won't either - so I'm always going to be huge.0

I have refused to even try on a pair of jeans. I haven't worn jeans in almost 4 years. I know myself, and if I try them on and they fit like shiza, I will get frustrated and quit everything. I just wear yoga pants every day. One day, when I am about 17 pounds later, I will try the clothes store. Have you tried yoga pants, or is that not your thing?0

I've lost 134 pounds. I kept clothes until they literally draped on me to save money. Within the last six month, I've gone from XL to small in shirts, dropped three bra sizes and went from XL to medium in pants. When the midsection starts to reduce, you'll be glad that you did not have the expense now.

How do you look in shift dresses or tunics?0

Shopping trip and try different styles
Also progressive, heavy weight training0 -
My body has done a right flip. I use to be small on top n bigger on the bottom, and now I'm top heavy. I'm still in that 'disproportionate' stage as I've dropped 2 sizes in pants and nothing on top. I know my belly is going to be the last to go. I'm about 7kgs away from my tw, so as it has been already suggested, I too have started doing progressive weights and will begin core work. Hang in there0

I thought I hadn't lost a size either and went shopping and I was actually down two sizes. I guess my 18s were too tight and I had stretched them out by wearing them for years.
Just keep going and they will eventually fall off.0 -
Lots of great tips here. Yes, I'm in Philly and a huge fan of Kohls. I have been to IMPACT (thrift store) before for the kids but I'm definitely going to start shopping there for me. Yoga pants are definitely good but not work appropriate. I love tunics and leggings. I will have to go looking for them at IMPACT. I absolutely refuse to keep buying clothes (at least at regular stores) until I drop all of the weight I'm looking to. I have so many clothes leftover from my skinnier days so I'm going to have to wait until I can fit them. However, I may find some good things at Impact. I love the weights so I definitely am going to be working on building my strength. Oh and speaking of shrinking feet.. while I was pregnant I went up a full shoe size 9 to 10. I stayed that way even after. However, now that I am losing weight I believe I've lost half a size 9.5 and am hopeful I'll lose the other half with weight loss. I already have chunky hands and feet and they only got wayyyyy worse with weight gain. I was a size 11 and a 1/4 for my ring size. Now, I definitely dropped ring sizes..I have to hold onto my engagement ring for dear life when my hands get cold. I'll be resizing that very soon!!!0

Oh and I started at a size 16.. I think 14's can fit. I'm trying sooo hard to get into my 13's and its just not happening for me right now.0
