I had the Roux en Y originally in 2003. I had severe bile and heartburn issues that required a revision to my Roux en Y. It was major surgery but successful. The surgeon rerouted where the food went and then the food was able to process through. (very complicated) It was the worse surgery ever. Like some of you, my…

I had my RNY in 2003. I'm 5' tall and weighed 321 lbs. It took me about 2 years to get down to 119 lbs. In the last year I have dropped 54 lbs and weigh 108 lbs. I understand the struggles to. I went up to 160 and I woke up and my doctor said shrink the stomach by eating less and exercise everyday. I listened and here I am…

I had the Reux en Y in 2003. I am 5ft tall. I weighed 321 lbs. It was a long journey but 12 years later I am 108 lbs and healthy. Oh, I had my share of wasting, trial and error, behavioral disciplining with eating/life, and counseling and in about 2005 the road got smoother. If I had to do it over again, I would. It was…

I recently started it but so far a few critics! If you know of people, we could have a great group!

I wish you well in your journey. Friend me if you need any ideas or support. :)

Yes I survived. It was a very dangerous option at the time. I was on the verge of dying anyway but having the surgery I was high risk because of high blood pressure and being morbidly obese. I'm sorry you didn't like my adjective! I like your analogy! ha ha

It sure wasn't a quick fix. I was almost ready for a bed because I could barely walk. I was so depressed and I was working and me and my doctor looked at the best choices with all my health problems. For me, this was less risky than anything at that time. The surgery went well, I am eating healthy, exercising, changed many…

You look beautiful! You should wear it out. It looks fabulous!

I agree. And with the others I agree it takes time. You didn't gain your weight overnight so don't expect your body to be perfect overnight! Keep talking and asking these fine people advice. I'm sure you will do well, maintain, and become toned!

Love your quote, "Don't expect to see a change if you don't make one." It is very true and is life changing!

Thanks to you too! I appreciate everyone posting cool quotes. I rely on these a lot to get me through days that I struggle or just to give me that extra umph! :)

I can appreciate that "lifestyle change" is a bigger picture than change of eating and exercise. For me, it meant changing my mindset, changing restaurants, some of the people I associated with, behavioral changes, etc. So in my case I made overall changes in my life. I appreciate your take on "diet' in the sense of eating…

Great for you! With your mindset, you will keep your weight off and exercising will seal the deal. I take it a day at a time. Thank you for your insight!

Thank you Loulamb7! I agree that diets cause a higher failure rate. I thought this was an excellent article. It does talk about diet for people with medical problems like those with diabetes etc. and that I agree with. I refer to the average person that is healthy other than over-weight and in my case morbidly obese.…

Absolutely. I believe anyone that goes on diet programs that do not prepare one for real foods that fit into one's lifestyle are being set up for failure. I know more than I can even guess the number of Weight Watchers going through the revolving door. It is a long life change goal. It is hard at first but it is worth it…

While you are losing weight, you can turn that body fat (tummy) into muscle. Try doing some crunches and keep doing them and you'll see your stomach/abs go from flabby to a six pack. I know from losing a whole lot more than 33 lbs. You can do it!!!

I have hit a few bumps in the road and "quit" exercising and put about 40 lbs but I was very sick. I have been faithful with doing at least 5 miles of walking or even marching or jogging in place to get a workout in each day. Trust me you'll not regret it to keep the weight off and feel all over good! These people have…

I'm like you there are certain trigger foods where I just cannot STOP. Those foods are no longer in my world. I no longer crave them for the most part. I know I am keeping my weight off because I have found healthier yummy foods to replace them. A lot of sweets that I loved I have turned to fruits and love them. It's mind…
