• I do IF but it's not intentional. I just skip breakfast and have 2 large meals a day. Works for me. Nothing special really, it just helps keep my calories down so I continue to lose weight.
• I think the question being asked was if the amount of calories they have was about right to lose weight not how they decide to consume those calories. I get that liquid diets aren't sustainable for most people trying to lose weight. It isn't something I could stick to but OP stated they enjoy it and find it convenient.…
• I can understand why OP enjoys a mostly liquid diet. My husband replaces most of his meals with high calorie protein shakes as he simply is not hungry enough to eat solid food. He has always not had much of an appetite and using the meal replacements helps him get his calories (I'm the opposite I love food). Being…
• Just tried syncing and it's working again now. Apparently it's a known issue.
• Mine isn't syncing today either. This happened a couple of weeks ago around Easter weekend. Very annoying. Fitbit is syncing no problem but it isn't syncing my steps with MFP, so I think the problem is with MFP. Last time they said just leave it and it will fix itself. Took about 3 or 4 days to work. Hope it doesn't take…
• Whats wrong with being thin/thinner AND enjoying your diet. That's what has helped me in this process. Being slimmer is a bonus. I wanted to lose weight to be healthier but do in a way I could stick to for life. I enjoy tasty food and I can eat it now without the guilt. Happy days!
• I had an analogue scale and was wondering why I wasn't losing. Started losing once I bought a digital one.
• Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Sorry I don't agree with this either. The most wonderful thing about calorie counting is that you can have food that tastes good and still lose weight. Being healthy isn't just about what you eat, it's about having a healthy mindset and not depriving yourself of what you enjoy. Thats…
• Seriously though OP. I also work nights but have lost 4 stone 9lb in less than 3 years with only 8 lb to my goal weight. It does get easier and I've found that reading the posts on the community here teaches you a lot about what works when it comes to losing weight. I quite often have takeaways and I'm a bugger for crisps,…
• I'm team butter. I bloody love butter me
• The same has happened to me so I found this. I think it worked but I'm waiting until after midnight to sync again. My Company Home > Troubleshooting > What if data doesn't appear to be syncing from Fitbit to MyFitnessPal? What if data doesn't appear to be syncing from Fitbit to MyFitnessPal? If it appears Fitbit and…
• I live in the uk also. Weather has been awful. Not used to snow and ice as past few winters have been more rainy and windy. The pavements outside are treacherous. Back in work today so *had* to walk. Back to 10000. Thanks again guys lots of good ideas there.
• I had a rest day in the end. There was no way I was venturing out. It was icy and windy. Still did 4000 steps so no big deal. Thanks for all the ideas.
• Brrr that sounds cold kangoojumps. Thanks for your input guys.....bouncy bouncy
• Long before I discovered MFP and CICO, someone told me in order to lose weight I had to drink warm lemon water every morning. This was supposed to 'kick-start my metabolism'. Yeah right! all it did was make my teeth hurt.
• I don't think you have to drink pure water. I only ever drink black tea with milk and have 8 mugs a day. I occasionally have a mug of black coffee with sugar if I need a pick me up (I work nights). The only time I drink pure water is if I have a hangover or after a workout but it has to be cold or it'll make me feel sick…
• I very often have takeaway and shop bought pizza and I've lost over 60lb in 2 years. Eat the pizza....you know you want to mmmmmmmm! No guilt
• Fung should be the new word to replace expletives. Instead of *kitten* it should be *fung*
• I have an actifry and I love it although it was expensive. I make homemade chunky chips in it and they are just like deep fried chips but without so much grease. I use olive oil, just a table spoon so its much healthier than deep fried chips (and safer, I never liked having to deep fry it is so dangerous). I also cook…
• I found an entry for a sandwhich for 120 calories. No mention of which type of filling. Must've been air. I mean 1 piece of bread is about 120 cals. So its an air sandwhich!
• Thanks everyone for the advice, I appreciate it ✌
•
I was leaning more towards having other data points over time rather than only the scale. Yes I agree with that as the readings on the scales can be dissapointing sometimes.
• Actually when I think about it it does show up for me too especially before TOM I can feel my clothes are a bit tighter etc. So I guess it would show on a tape measure, just not enough for it to make a huge difference
• I lost 58lb in 2 years eating as many calories as MFP would allow me and thats with going over calories quite often as 'life happens'
• This is why it is frequently recommended to take measurements of neck, waist, and hips every couple to few weeks as another marker of progress. Also photo evidence.
Does water weight only show on the scale then? If you were to measure with a tape measure when you were retaining water would that not show up there…
• I have been over my calories slightly for a couple of weeks as I have been extra hungry. Probably a small amount of weight gain and a bit of water. You have to be soo patient when you are near goal weight I guess.
• Thanks for your reply. Yes I agree about weight loss being erratic. I also use a trend app and its useful but sometimes i stand on the scale and wonder if I have put on real weight or just water. Hard to tell as I am close to my goal weight now and its very sloooow!
