  • "You can LOVE somebody but not neccesarily LIKE them". A lesson that I learned only recently and can apply to your parents and children as well. Bianca from South Africa
  • Pip- Is that bikini photo of you????!!!! Between you and Mary of Minnesota/Ar, you ladies look fantastic. I work out with weights, watch my diet (or try to) and look ok after having twins at 40, but you guys rock! Bianca from South Africa
  • You can an also try Jeremy Ethier on YouTube for proper weight training ideas as well as Bodybuilding.com for motivation. I found, that joining a gym for a year and booking a trainer to get proper form, helped me the most.
  • NY Karen - halfway through winter means halfway through summer for us. That's bad because i love summer and hate being cold especially my feet. It has been a very hot summer as Machka mentioned as well with bush fires a problem but we've had some good African rain and the temperatures have cooled down somewhat. Wuite the…
  • It's funny Michele. but since letting off steam here I'm feeling much better! Need to put my big girl pants on and confront her.🙄
  • My twins are now 12. I'm turning 52 this Feb, so had my kids quite late. I've never discussed my friend's comment with her, neither with my son. She's really a good friend through difficult times which is why i'm quite surprised and hurt. I will probably have to talk to her about it during her stay but I'm dreading it.
  • Oh, I've lost my previous post, so here it goes again... My best friend is visiting from another country today. She and her hubby will be staying with friends but we'll see them often over the next week. I have a problem though. 4 years ago, she told me that she disliked one of my twin boys. At that stage they were 8 years…
  • Thank you so much for your feeback You really got me thinking and I've decided to try the following: 1. Follow a 14:10 fasting type of cycle. I barely manage to control my hunger until 10h00 in the morning so must keep myself busy until then. 2. Get back into the 5 day/ week gym routine. I've neglected this for two weeks…
  • For goodness sake!!! I'm on the 1240 calorie limit and am STARVING!!!!! just had a slice of banana loaf and now I've got almost no calories left for supper. I need to lose 17 lbs but I am not sure whether this calorie limit is realistic. I crave food all the time. I try to have a high protein breakfast at earliest 10h00…
  • Barbie- what made you change your mind about gym? After many years of exercising at home early in the morning, I joined a gym 8 months ago. I found that i quite enjoy it and since I go there at around 7h30 in the morning, there is usually an "older crowd" of 50+ and this currently motivates me. But I'm not sure whether i…
  • Heather: I'm on the 1240 calorie per day setting because you mentioned it in an earlier post. I only have about 8kg to lose but find it frustratingly slow. Just wondering again whether you mentioned that you also "ate back" your exercise calories? Bianca from South Africa
  • Bianca – so that’s where you’ve been!!!! Welcome back. I’m so sorry o hear that you’re having problems walking, how frustrating! Michele, yes I received an email from MFP warning that my account had been hacked and my password along with it. Was not able to log in for many months. I also could not access Map My Walk.
  • Machka, thank you for sharing. This is not how one visualizes the future with your partner. It's taking one day at a time and celebrating each achievement no matter how small. Is he able to work again? Big hug to you🤗 Bianca from South Africa
  • Welcome to 2019!! Machka: having been MIA since March, I decided to go back to the posts from March. I read your posts and am really sorry that you had such a terrible time. How is he doing now, is there any permanent brain damage? Times like these remind you that life is precious. All the best for both of you in this…
  • Happy New Year Machka! All of the best to you and your husband. We're 8 hours from 2019 away. All the best to the fantastic ladies who've entered my live. All the best for 2019. Bianca from South Africa
  • I'm finally able to log in on MFP again after 9 months. MFP sent out an email, warning us that our accounts had been hacked. Since then, I gave not been able to log in. It is so good to read all the 'old' and familiar names again and to know that so many of you are staying in this forum just to share eventhough you've long…
  • Happy New Year in Australia! !! We're counting down the last few hours of 2017 here in South Africa. We'll probably spend the countdown in oyr swimming pool - it's so hot! Lots of love to our English and American friends. See you next year. Bianca
  • H there ladies! I don't post often but love, love reading your posts and advice. Today however I saw something that has upset me deeply and I need advice on how to mentallys deal with it. I was picking up my twin boys from school. While waiting in the car another car pulled up next to me. The mom got out and a while later…
  • I did the C25k programme and now run/walk 3 to 4 days a week and do weight training 3 days a week. I use DVD's for weight training but Crossfit exercises are excellent as well. You will have to focus on core exercises to help you run better.
  • Just wear a good running bra such as Shock Absorber. Start out by walking for a few weeks. Increase your walking speed and gradient on the treadmill gradually. A great start to a running program is C25K. Download the app but take it easy. Don't worry if you struggle. You'll get there! You have to make up your mind that…
  • Hi there. My name is Bianca and live in South Africa. I've been hanging out here for about 1,5 yrs and will join this group "officially" next week Thursday 'cause that is when I turn 50. I was however wondering how you felt turning 50? I dread it and already miss 'being in my 40's'! I see my skin and body change and miss…
  • Des was my inspiration to start and stick to the C25K program. It took me 9 months to complete and I had to repeat many weeks but I did it! Would be nice though to hear back from him on how he's doing!
  • I did not understand that it it was 25min or 2.5 miles, which for me is quite a relief. I am currently repeating W7 for the 5th time and am still forced to stop every 5 minutes for a few seconds to catch my breath which is really frustrating since I'm on this program since January. I running on a treadmill and barely get…
  • I love this thread and hope it will never be removed! But I need advice though. I started the C25K in January and I am still on Wk 7 D3. I run on a treadmill but just am not able to run the required 2.4miles in 25 minutes. It"s very frustrating and I'm very demotivated. I'm also stuck at my weight of 62kg @1.67m length and…
  • This week is going really well. On Friday I'll do W1D3. The advice above was brilliant! ! I focus on my breathing and stretch properly afterwards - no pain. I find that I need to eat something before or else I have no energy. Can't wait to start W2.
  • I read the Beginners guide article before I did W1D3 today and their advice was perfect! I still struggled today but I jogged slower and concentrated on my breathing and it went a lot better. Did a proper stretch afterwards and I feel great. I' m going to repeat W1 again next week before attempting W2. I only did 2miles…
  • Yes, I definitely think that's the problem. I went straight from C25K into squats without stretching. I run pretty slow but I do not cool down after - will do this today.
  • Hi there. I have not seen any support groups on MFP but I also had a C1&C2 fusion last year following a car accident. It is very scary but follow doctor's orders for the time you are in the brace, get good shoes and start walking daily soon as the brace comes off. After a few weeks you should be able to start some strength…
  • I started walking about 5wks ago and currently walk @ 0.93 miles in 15 minutes and walk for 45 minutes per day, each day. I have no idea if this enough to help me lose weight as well? Compared to the girls above, I'm far behind!
  • This is amazing - to think some of you averaged more than 10k steps a day!! I am currently walking 6 days a week on a treadmill and averaging about 3500 steps per session. I am really struggling to get to over 6k steps a day. Did you follow a program to build up to 10k steps? Do you walk daily or do you plan rest days? I…
