Thanks. I was actually looking for stories of regular people, not world class athletes but this would be fun to watch again.

I'm going to a wedding today so I put on my suit, which I haven't worn in over a year, and the pants were way too big around the waist.

I prepare a salad for breakfast the night before. I usually include half an avocado, some pesto and some nuts so it's very filling.

I'm in. On the Android app, go to Community, click on the little message button on the top left and there will be a Groups option. Click on that and there will be a Create New Group button at the top.

What's an LP? I'm not really looking for something that will guide me through a program, what I'd like is to gain enough knowledge to understand why a particular program is designed the way it is and to make my own programs to suit my needs. Is that even possible or do I need a degree in kinesiology?

Thanks, I'll check that one out.

So for Android, without a Fitbit, it looks like Libra is the most popular. Appreciate the input.

1) lose 45lbs of fat 2) gain 25 lbs of muscle 3) gain more flexibility 4) improve cardio Stretch goal: I want to pull off a Hugh Jackman and be totally ripped when I turn 40. Long term, I want to make sure I preserve as much physical ability as possible as I age.

I try to keep them as low as possible but I'm happy if they're under 50.

Welcome! Just don't be this guy:

I use MFP as a planning tool rather than a tracking tool. Every evening as I'm preparing my lunch for the next day I enter everything I'm going to eat the next day - everything, not just the lunch. This way I can make sure I get the right amount of calories and the right macros and micros and that they're spread out…

How is this such a huge argument? People generally tend to hang out with people their own age, there's nothing wrong with that. You just relate better to people who are in the same stage of life as you. I think some people come to this forum just to argue.

You ever wonder why they make lemonade out of concentrate but they make dish soap out of real lemons?

Just wondering, at 37 why are you still not living on your own? If I had people calling me names and pulling me down I'd be out of there. Being independent would also help with your other goal of finding someone to settle down with. It wouldn't mean you don't love your family, it would mean you're a grownup taking charge…

I have some rules just for myself, mostly to keep my behavior in check and to cater to the way my body seems to work: - I don't drink my calories. It's just way too easy for me to blow throw my calorie target without this rule. - I avoid carbs. I can eat fewer calories without going hungry if I avoid carbs. It's just the…

The girls in those photos have incorporated a revolutionary new program called Photoshop.

I had another MFP account a few years ago where I added a whole bunch of people from the intro forum. It resulted in a daily routine of clicking"like" about 20 times and getting about 20 likes on every one of my updates. It did nothing for my motivation. I now only add people if I feel we have something in common (other…

I have a Vivoactive 3 without music. I really like it. It has been serving me well for tracking my calorie expenditure.

It's not really wrong, the other place is just better

Nothing anyone has ever done was done perfectly. You're going to have lots more bad days. Accept that but still do your best every single day.
-
In the intro forum there is a thread called "comment here if you want more friends". You'll likely to get a whole bunch of people through that. You can add me but I'm horrible when it comes to bugging people to do stuff.

There's a lot of advice here about changing the schedule and location so you can spend more time with the kids. While that might be necessary in the end, I think before you even start discussing logistics you need to talk to him about why you need gym time. You need to be in agreement that this is important. Only then…

I don't have much wiggle room. On non- workout days my TDEE is only 1600-1700, so to lose just 1lbs/week I can only eat about 1100-1200 calories and that gets filled fast. I suppose if I was more active I could squeeze in some extras.

I tend use MFP as a planning tool rather than a tracking tool. Every evening I'll prepare my breakfast and lunch for the following day and I enter all the food I intend to eat that day into MFP. If I log as I go I tend to hit my calorie target too early in the day and at that point the only way to stay on target is to go…

Ok, people keep zeroring in on the fruit thing. Let's read my post again: I suggested it because that's what works for me so it might work for them. Where, in my post, does I say it works for everyone? Maybe my wording is a bit off, should've said "I find it leaves me hungry" rather than "leaves you hungry". This is…

My example was extreme on purpose to call out the fact that there are strategies to be worked out and some of the approaches people take get ridiculed even though they work for some people. It was a suggestion, not a generalization.

One thing that gets repeated ad nauseam, that is 100% true but kind of simplistic is "All you need to lose weight is to be in a caloric deficit". That's kind of like saying "All you need to win a hockey game is to score more goals than your opponent". Really, is that all? Well, now that I know I think I'll go get drafted…

I had a problem with this too. It wasn't until after I got over it that things really started rolling.
