To be honest, using this tool has made it easy for me. You obviously have to have the desire to lose it in the first place, and I would like it to have happened quicker, but I'm really pleased with how things are going. Good luck, it's worth it.

Loads of us on here, I'm also in the SE. Good luck!

Hi Nelly, have you started tracking your food intake? If not, that's definitely where to start, it made so much difference to me. Then build some exercise in to your daily routine. You don't have to go to the gym, start by walking to the park, or around the block. It is obviously good for you and I'm sure your son won't…

I'm from Herts, there are loads of Brits on here.

Don't get too skinny! But I'd be happy to come on your journey with you.

Thanks all, very helpful.

Hi, welcome to the site and good luck with achieving your goals. If you can, try using the 'mapmywalk' app, it tracks your walk for you so you don't need to count the laps. It also links through to here so you get credit for the calories burnt.

Good for you, seize the day and all that! I would say:* Set yourself sensible targets, something that you know you can work towards. * Get used to eating better, it's not so bad and actually gives you more energy. * Get moving, you don't need to join a gym, just go for a good paced walk a couple of times a day. * Use other…

Hi Jen, the weather is no excuse, if you really want to lose weight you can and will. What country are you living in?

Hi Ian, I'm happy for you to add me as a friend. Not really qualified to mentor, but always happy to support!

Hi Steve, you could be right re drinking. Now that it's getting colder in the UK I am drinking a lot less, I will make an effort to keep it up. I use something called High5 Zero, sounds like a similar concept to what you are using. I don't really use gels unless I'm doing 100+ miles, I try to use more natural products as…

Well done! I can trace my weight gain back to when I gave up smoking, I wish I had kept it under control at the time... I would say that losing the cigarettes is more important than the weight, but if you can manage to do both then you will have done fantastically. Best of luck!!!

I hope it is ok to ask this here, if not please let me know. I'm a cyclist who's trying to lose some weight. However, when I go out for a good ride of say 50-60 miles in the morning, I am absolutely ravenous for the rest of the day and I end up struggling to stay within my extended calorie allowance; thereby negating the…

I've been using an app called 'Monitor Your Weight' just for daily weight tracking (I only log my weight here on a weekly basis). The graph on there has both your target line on it and a trend line, so not only can you see the daily fluctuations, but the overall direction that you are heading. I wish mfp had the same,…

Hi, if you have lost 30lbs so far you are already winning! You just need to see it through, all down hill from here. I (and I'm guessing most people on here) also suffer from cravings, the best way I find of dealing with them is to actually do some exercise. Doesn't have to be a massive amount, just grab some weights and…

Welcome to mfp, if this is something that you want to do, then you can and will do it. The only thing I would add... Is there any form of exercise that you enjoy doing outside of the gym? Even if it's just walking, 20 minutes each lunchtime can make a huge difference. Or if you have a newspaper delivered currently, can you…

Do you enjoy any sports, gym or gym classes? It's a good way of meeting like minded people, getting physically active and removing some of your boredom.

Well done!

Fantastic! I know that you are probably focussing on your stomach, but the change in your forearm is amazing.

Good work! I'm 6'4"; on day 30, 252lbs down from 264, and I know exactly what you mean, I can definitely see an improvement. I'm not going to win any Calvin Klein modelling contracts just yet, but the moobs are shrinking ;) Keep it going!

Lol, I love that!

I'm also 45, I started using mfp four weeks ago and have lost 8lbs. I have increased my exercise levels, but the main reason for my loss was tracking and understanding my calories (mainly how much those little snacks add up...). Set up your account/profile and it will tell you what you need to do to lose weight. As others…

Newbie... Me: 13* LNS: 1 Streak: 6 This is one of my big weaknesses, so this thread could be great for me.

You're basically wasting your time. I'm not saying that you shouldn't have days where you go over your calorie limit, but at least track them so you know what's what. I have bad days, recently it has been both my daughter's and wife's birthdays. On both days I exercised in the mornings so that I could enjoy a nice meal and…
