This is the month where things usually start to get quite a bit more cold and snowy in MN. I'll try for
200 and see how that goal goes.

Winter is coming and so is ski season. I'll aim for 200 miles and hopefully exceed that. I'll start first thing tomorrow.

I'll join in again. Don't think I'll set a definite goal, and just take what I can get with the days getting dark so early.
And I definitely start wimping out when it gets down to about 40 degrees F.

    11/1 16.99

    November total: 16.99
    Total for year: 2010.69

Dropping from 550 miles in October to 500 miles for November as I'm increasing up my running mileage (from 184 to 220) in advance of a January marathon and need to trade off some time.

Got in a windy interval ride today. Lots of high power intervals, but I'll ease off on the intensity before my next race (Olympic Triathlon w. 40KM TT) on Sunday.

    11/2 - 34 miles

    Total: 34 miles
    Goal: 500 miles
    Remaining: 466 miles

I hope it is ok to ask this here, if not please let me know.

I'm a cyclist who's trying to lose some weight. However, when I go out for a good ride of say 50-60 miles in the morning, I am absolutely ravenous for the rest of the day and I end up struggling to stay within my extended calorie allowance; thereby negating the benefits of the exercise that I had done.

I have tried to cut out ‘recovery’ protein shakes recently due to calorie content, and thought it might be that, but I had one after this Sunday’s ride to see if it would suppress my appetite, unfortunately it didn't work…

    All advice gratefully received!
    Cheers,
    Paul.

@ PaulBonham- I am not a authority on this just my own experience. I had this very issue and sometimes still do. One thing I found is I'm guilty of not drinking enough on rides sometimes it was a thirst hunger from dehydration rather than from food. I started a effort of drinking more and it helped. I started using Poweraid zero to reduce calories. Sometimes the aids we use to help us ride has caused an issue too. Shot Blocks, jel packs and such to give energy and high caffine sends the system into a frenzy coming off the sugar high. Tried to look at more natural protein and energy sources. Just some of the things I have noticed.

Hi Steve, you could be right re drinking. Now that it's getting colder in the UK I am drinking a lot less, I will make an effort to keep it up. I use something called High5 Zero, sounds like a similar concept to what you are using.

I don't really use gels unless I'm doing 100+ miles, I try to use more natural products as you say.

Thanks for your response, I will definitely focus on the drinking.
    Paul.
