Hilarious! I won't be using that term again! I haven't been on the message boards for a few years and so much has changed.

Didn't mean for anyone to get upset. I was simply offering my opinion and advice which is based on many experts who state that 1,200 is the minimum a woman should consider when creating a deficit unless a Dr. suggests otherwise. I used myself as an example. I no longer burn calories like I did in my 20's. I created a…

Thanks! Yes #4 is the point I was trying to make all along.

Yes, I messed up and should have hit her quote button! Thanks! I think there is some type of confusion on something I wrote. I never stated that people can gain weight in a deficit. I was referring to something else and did not hit the quote button like I should have, no big deal. Obviously, if we create a deficit, over…

At 5'5" I was fortunate to reach 120 pounds over a period of four to five months. It is a slow but steady process and it takes perseverance and patience but it is worth it.
-
It's not my opinion; it's suggested in countless articles by experts.

Because I feel her intake is too low for a person her age. It can temporarily slow down her metabolism . Patience is huge when losing weight. Temporary factors such as water intake, periods and even going to the bathroom can make a difference on the face of the scale. That's why it is importsnt to weigh in at the same time…

Yes, it works for me but I try not to go hog wild when I eat off track. I find that I still am able to drop a pound here and there because it is what I am doing overall and the majority of time that matters. This means, I adhere to a strict deficit during the week.

I dropped the term I'm going on a diet. Instead, I thought of it more as I am going to set up a healthy eating plan in order to lose weight. Once I lost every lost pound, I added 300-400 calories to my plan to maintain my healthy weight. Whenever I gain a few pounds, I revert to the deficit in my healthy eating plan and I…

I agree with the perfect storm anology. I would still up my intake to 1,500 and see what it looks like over time. Weigh yourself everyday right after you get up and go the bathroom with no clothes on. You will eventually drop weight. So much of weight loss is based on what we ingest.

You're probably not eating enough for the amount of excercise you're getting. Your body will think you're starving and go into a starvation mode to protect you. 1,200 calories is low for a young woman. I am 62 and that is the area I am in to create a deficit. I would up my calories to at least 1,400 to 1,600 and still do…

I agree with many of the replies. I don't use the word diet, that, in tself, suggests temporary and then you feel as though you failed when you slip off the diet and revert to past eating habits. As mentioned above, I eat three meals, morning, noon and around six in the evening and two snacks Mid morning and afternoon.…

You will feel better when you are able to eat to live on a daily basis. It is almost like we have let go of our eating habits of the past and form a new healthy relationship as good fuel for our body. It is a mindset, not a punishment. Remember that, most of all. Here's a goal for you. Haven't you repeatedly heard of…

That sounds like what I plan to do. I had success throughout the holiday season before, so it works. I'm going to eat more turkey and small servings of casserole and mashed potatoes. I will eat field peas. I am going to pass on rolls but eat some cranberry sauce. I will eat a piece of pecan pie. I am making half the amount…

I downloaded it again and it is better. Try that.

I tell myself that I I can't afford to entertain negative thoughts, they work against the goals I wish to achieve.

Cathy, I would talk to my doctor about how to handle weight gain from meds. You want to make sure you do what he or she suggests.
-
I dropped a pound and went to deduct it to from my goal weight but I had already subtracted it

So true, kerndog87 Cidalia1173' it sounds like you are totally aware of what you need to do to once you hit your goal weight. I was thinking back at some of the things that happened when I first started eating correctly to lose weight by creating a deficit. People asked if I was on a "diet". I don't like the word "diet";…

Sounds good Jen. I came up a little, short but who actually knows. It is hard to add accurately if you sauté vegetables. I might have easily hit 1,200 but as long as I am close, that is all that matters. Susan

Crazylilrae are you using food as a source of comfort or happiness? Many people do. The best motivator would be to recognize whether you reach for food for the wrong reasons. It's a mental thing. We have to recognize it and start thinking differently about food; we have to think of food as great fuel for our body. Susan

So true my healthy eating is delicious and it is much better to know you are ingesting healthy foods that work towards goals of losing and maintaining your desired weight. Susan

I had a cup of grapes for a snack this afternoon 100 calories. I am…

Awesome Jacky!

I am going to have a 4 oz. serving of FF cottage cheese with Truvia and blueberries mixed in for midmorning snack. I just had some Mango green tea. Working on my Thanksgiving menu. Susan

I had old fashioned oatmeal for breakfast, don't love it but I know it is good for me so I put it in my weekly cycle of meals for breakfast. I add cinnamon, Truvia and whipped butter (not too much). Getting ready to open front door and walk/jog for two miles before it gets too hot! Have a great Monday! Susan

I am older, I would not go as low as I do. Keep it where you are and add more if you're burning a ton with those type workouts.

Isn't it funny how we both had great results but with different exercise intensities and different caloric intake? Susan
