I am very fit cyclist and do a lot of riding. Upwards of 800 hours a year. When I go easy for an hour I burn 500 calories. My easy is most people’s moderate or hard. When I am completely not trying I do 300-350 an hour. When I go hard I can do 900+ in an hour. Pretty good for a 129 pounds 49 year old. My wife is also…

My Garmin also put me at 73... And my Strava name is the “Angry Minnow”. Pretty fitting actually. An animal but not to impressive but incredibly stubborn. John

College professor 11 years. Mental health counseling is my speciality. Been in the counseling field for 26 years. I built an entire indoor workout room to stay fit all year as I live in northern Wisconsin, so winter is stupid cold. The hard part is ignoring the feeling of tired after a long day. But tired is just a thing,…

Just got my VO2 tested in a unversity lab as well as body fat. 5.5% body fat at 5 feet 6 inches, 128.5 pounds. VO2 max of 73. 49 years old. Best shape of my life. I tested on the bike as I am a pure cyclist. I love riding my bike. Tested in 2014 and VO2 was 68...

A 72 hour month...a lot inside so miles are pointless to track. First race this Friday.

Any goals for the events other than finish?
-
What are you training for?
-
Leg warmers go under....always...same with socks.
-
Yeah...HTFU

I have always been fit and went on a 100 mile bike ride (I ride 100 a lot) which I am usually good at. Got dropped multiple times, meaning they had to wait for me which has not happened in years. Lost 10 pounds in 5-6 weeks. Nothing was said...but motivation is very high.

Cool...done...I go by Angry Minnow on Strava

I ride a ton and like to walk in the evening to help with recovery. But after about 45 minutes even slow and flat I know I am doing about all I need. 10 km would impact recovery for me. I might be ok the next day but since you stack rides like I do I bet it will catch up to you. What’s you’re Strava feed called?

105 mile bike ride...5600 feet of climbing....20.6 mph average. Totally crushed

Tail winds help a lot, all my PRs...KOMs....were environmentally aided. But the effort is quite short and as you build aerobic fitness anaerobic fitness can decline. Finally a year ago I’d not that long.

A lot...I average 2 hours of biking every day of the year. Last year was 831 total hours riding from January 1 to December 31. I also commute 1 mile twice a day to work but don’t log those miles. I have pretty set schedule. Mon/Fri 1 hours easy Tues/Wed/Thurs 2 hours tempo to intervals Saturday 3-6 hours Sunday 2-4 hours I…

Just finished a 5 hour ride...had a lot of them happen!

First rode bike ride of the year....101.7 miles...4900 feet of climbing. 5 hours 3 minutes. A good start.

I have done many 200, 300 mile rides and one 400 miles ride all in a day. Did 752 (1200km) in 4 days. With 10000 meters of climbing. It’s all on Strava. They are always hard. I can average 21-22 mph solo for hilly 100 miles and 200 are always hard. If I back the pace down to around 19-20 mph, 200 is easier for me but that…

I road my bike on the trainer for 3 hours in 10 minutes. Did 2 virtual group ride/races...it’s a gaming platform called Zwift. Burned 2500 calories, time to eat well

Wow, this thread took off. I am on Strava and Zwift. I used the name Angry Minnow. I wanted to weigh 130 so I used Keto to get there. I was 138 and now 130. Now that I am at goal weight and body fat I eat normally. Basically I replace what I burn. On my low, easy days of training I eat far less carbs as I get real hungry…

If you do a Keto day and then drain your glycogen stores you needed 24 hours to fill them up...so 2 days after your Keto day you can train hard...I do Keto/recovery day, then an endurance/refill eat carbs day....then interval/deplete my glycogen day...and then I start over. It worked for me.

I ride between 10-15000 miles a year. My year goal is 800 hours of pedaling per year...at 778 today for the year. I eat a lot of carbs. A lot of carbs. But I ride almost twice a day every day. Carbs are you best friend, ratios are silly if you ride a ton. Now most people overestimate the calories they are burning so you…

I work out sometimes 14 times a week....all cycling. 2-3 are HIIT style bike races....really hard, usually hit near max heart rates each race. It’s all posted on online, not exaggerating. Your body can handle almost anything you throw at it, IF you build toward it. Did an Ironman and did triple workouts a ton....sometimes…

Fair enough, I just can not tell you how many times I have read the creator of term/concept of FTP complain about people misunderstanding of the concept.
-
Why do an hour FTP test...contrary to popular wisdom (and the creator of FTP) it’s not an hour...
-
Hi all..I’m the Angry Minnow in the Strava world. I really enjoy the social world of Strava and if you have a bike I also recommend Zwift. Racing on Zwift has made the trainer actually easy.

Been riding a ton like always...81 hours in July. Tapering right now. Starting a 1200KM ride Monday....4 days....750+ miles and over 30,000 feet of climbing. Day one 236 miles Day two 178 Day three 197....which I will soft pedal till I get 200 Day four 141 I have done a ton of crazy endurance stuff...Ironman, 400 miles in…

To lazy to type it all. Lots of miles so far....101 yesterday. Averaging 17 hours a week. John

Basically it’s a way of training where you polarize your training intensities. You are suppposed to ride very easy on your easy days and really really hard on you hard days. Hard is like 90% of max HR minimum for 40 total minutes a week (spread out between 2/3 workouts). Obviously you warm up and cool down on hard days.…

Are you familiar with the polarized training concept?
