Because people like easy. And it isn't always easy to measure/weigh, and log everything you eat until you develop the habit.

Good luck on your health journey, friend. Sometimes it's frustrating and it never goes as fast as we think it should, but it's so worth it.

When you have an infection, sometimes your weight will go up. Your body responds to a lot of different things with inflammation (which usually means a few extra pounds). Give yourself some grace during this time in the weight department. I hope the infection clears up soon if it hasn't already. My doctor asks me to take…

Any medical professional that doesn't align with your health goals warrants seeking a second opinion. You are also not under some sort of spell, I presume. You didn't have to eat the food you knew was unhealthy. I saw your other post. You know what junk food is.

That last infographic is very helpful. Thank you.

No. UA are some greedy folks. MyNetDiary is looking pretty good

Hi there from across the pond! Hmmm... That's a good question. I suppose you can do a Keto diet and be a Keto diet practitioner, so BOTH! My doctor recommended Keto to me for health reasons, and I'm getting used to it. I got a pretty cool cookbook that I'll recommend because everything I've made from it has been…

Welcome back! Congratulations on your first 30 pounds of weight loss and I wish you the best of luck on your last 30 pounds. Yoga is one of my faves. It puts me in a better place physically and mentally and I am almost always up for doing it. Plus, if I've been doing more strenuous activities, it's great for those…

I started a keto diet at the recommendation of my doctor (for a specific medical condition, not for weight loss) after doing low-cal most of my life on-and-off when I gained weight over the years. I will say that I have noticed some mood swings and what I believe might be the "keto flu" that is discussed by a lot of…

Hi there. Did you ever find any sources for this? My doctor has recommended this diet.

1. Using the scale's tare function for multiple uses. 2. Using a food scale, period. 3. Patience. 4. I have to log. When I reach maintenance, I still have to log. Other people apparently don't have to, but I do or I gain weight. This is the 3rd time now. You'd think I'd learn.

I never stop exercising when I gain weight typically. The way I lose weight (since I've been an adult) is through logging my food and counting calories. I only rarely eat back my exercise calories. On days when you can't get to the gym for any reason and still want to exercise, do YouTube workouts.

Hi there. This isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I wish you and your partner the best of luck in starting your family, and you good luck on your weight loss journey. L

I think, like several people said, it's always going to be personal. I myself benefit from a mix of being extremely precise most of the time and relaxing when I need to (for example, when I just don't have access to the information, like when I go to someone else's house for dinner or something). However, if I relax too…

Check out those collarbones! Doing great!

OP, it doesn't seem like the excess weight your partner has put on is necessarily the problem in your relationship. Rather, it is your unwillingness to communicate about what's important to you in a direct way. Off-handed comments are not going to work. Have a serious conversation if you want the relationship to work.…

Losing weight when not everyone in the house is on board is tricky. I make the food (most of the time) in our house too, so I make foods my husband and I both enjoy but that I can fit into my calorie budget. I also keep extra snacks around for him. The most important thing I've found is that I continue counting my calories…

Halo Top dairy-free ice cream. Thank goodness for this stuff. I am lactose intolerant and it is tasty. I really like the oatmeal cookie one, but my local store stopped carrying it for some reason. The other flavors are good though.

I mean, diet is more important for losing weight, but you get to eat a little bit more if you work out. Plus, you're going to look better if you work out. Pure weight loss is probably not going to get you the look you're going for, but working out might slow your weight loss down. Regardless, healthy weight loss is never…

My feet got narrow again (like they were when I was a kid) after losing 40 pounds. I really need to buy some new ballet flats with elastic around the ankle. Mine flap around like flip flops.

Wow, you're like my weight loss twin. Nearly all of this is samesies for me, except timeline. Good luck on your journey, friend. You can do it!

Yes, many times (4 times throughout my twenties, all coinciding with big life changes). But I seem to have figured it out now. This weight loss took longer, but the habits appear to be sticking around, even through stressful stuff and a life change. My thirties are looking thin. Woot. (Though that first year was not thin…

Omg! These last 5 pounds very well might kill me, especially with my husband over here telling me, "you look beautiful as you are". Yeah, I do, but it's a goal. He's sweet though.

What has worked for me (and I have quite the sweet tooth) is to allow myself one sweet treat per week (usually a pint of Halo Top or something). It gives me something to look forward to and I can easily make room in my calories for it. If I have sweet cravings on other days, I usually eat fruit.

I like almost everything in the dessert realm, unfortunately. Both grandmas made awesome desserts. Plus, my dad has quite the sweet tooth, so eating candy and getting ice cream was something that we did together. I still eat dessert, just not every night, and in moderation now. *edited for wording

I have posted on this thread already, but I have another one. I've maintained my weight loss for over a year now and started working on losing some vanity weight at the beginning of this year. I just want maintain my weight for so long that it's no longer a discussion at my husband's family gatherings. It's uncomfortable.

My balance and flexibility weren't that great a couple of years ago, but I started doing yoga when I started taking my health/weight-loss more seriously. I was able to execute a couple of movements today that normally make me fall over and that I didn't previously have the flexibility to achieve.

That I can say no, even to family and friends. It's making me stronger in general.

I no longer do Keto because I found calorie tracking to be more effective for me (but to each his/her own), but there is an add-on for Chrome if you want to be more exact in your Keto tracking on the computer (i.e. net carbs, etc). I don't remember what it's called, but it should be easy to find. I'm sure you can look it…
