Hello! I am also a type 1 diabetic and I have struggled to maintain my weight since diagnosis. It is hard to balance while taking exogenous insulin. I follow the keto diet mainly to help with blood sugar control. Feel free to add me and we can commiserate about weight loss as type 1's!

Hi, I would recommend talking to your doctor about insulin dosing. You shouldn't HAVE to eat a certain amount of carbs to match your insulin. You can match the insulin to the amount of carbs you choose to eat. I do believe keto can be a wonderful tool for managing blood glucose. I have type 1 diabetes and have been keto…

Is the 15% total carbs or net carbs? I am usually around 8-10% net carbs and that seems to work well for me!

For my calorie goals, 70% fat equates to about 120 grams of fat per day. It is not hard to reach that goal by eating fatty meats, avocados, cheese, olive oil, nuts/seeds, creamy dips, coconut, and dark chocolate, among other things. I feel full because 1) I'm eating a lot of fat and 2) I always fill my plate with…

Stevia or erythritol are good choices. You may also want to look for a recipe that uses almond flour or coconut flour, since wheat flour is not a good option for diabetics.

I get the same feeling! I find if I pop a piece of minty gum immediately after finishing my meal, I do better with controlling the urge to eat more.

Type 1 diabetic here.. so I know all too much about BG readings :) A reading of 79-80 is really good, especially after eating. Generally, a non-diabetic person who eats carbs should have a BG of ~150 or less after eating. On a low carb/keto diet, I wouldn't be surprised for a post-meal reading to be under 100. I'm not…

I have been keto for about 8 months and I know I will never go back to carbs, but I am a type 1 diabetic so I have medical reasons to stay keto. I'm not sure if my mindset would be the same if I wasn't diabetic. But either way, if you'd like to add me, I have an open diary for friends and I love keto and sharing advice! :)

Welcome! I have been keto for about 7 months and there's no going back for me. Feel free to add me, my diary is open to friends :)

Yes! Follow the instructions on this post: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10107138/must-have-browser-plugin-for-keto-and-mfp-users

Hello! I am a 28 year old Type 1 diabetic and I started following the keto diet about 6 months ago hoping to lose the weight that battling with insulin had caused me to gain. I was able to lose about 10 pounds pretty quickly and easily, and have been maintaining since. But keto has changed my life for the better in so many…

I also wear the Dexcom CGM most of the time, and it is incredibly helpful! It's so great to see how different foods/moods/situations affect your blood sugars. It will take a little getting used to if you haven't worn a medical device before. You may hit it on doors or walls if you wear it on the back of your arm, but you…

^^I second this! I am T1D and follow a keto diet to control blood sugar. I am a firm believer that the best way to fight diabetes is through extremely low carbohydrate diets.

Hello! I follow a keto diet for medical reasons, so I eat extremely low carb/high fat. My ratios are 5%c/70%f/25%p. Typical breakfasts are eggs, meats, avocados, keto pancakes. Lunches I do salad with salami and mozz cheese, celery and fatty dip, etc. Dinners are either a crockpot type of meal with creamy sauces or grilled…

Follow the steps here: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10107138/must-have-browser-plugin-for-keto-and-mfp-users It will have you install a browser plugin that calculates net carbs per meal and for the day, also give you some nice pie charts.

http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10107138/must-have-browser-plugin-for-keto-and-mfp-users ^^I use this browser plugin and it calculates net carbs for me as well as shows percentages of fat/protein/net carbs per meal and per day. A wonderful tool for low carbers!

Hello! Fellow type 1 diabetic here. I follow a keto diet to help manage my blood sugars, but that is something you should probably talk to your doctor about if you're not already low-carb. I also primarily lift as my workout routine, with some days of low intensity cardio. Feel free to add me to see my diary and we can PM…

I can't say this happened to me. I only got the keto flu in the very first week of starting the diet. Are you getting electrolytes every day?
-
Feel free to add me! I log consistently and always follow keto. My diary is open to friends :)
-
I log pretty accurately every day and would love to connect with more ketonians to share recipes and advice! Feel free to add me :)

I think the only calories that sync up to MFP for me are from Apple watch exercises (and only the "active" calories from that)
-
Fellow celiac person here.. Feel free to add me and we can swap recipes, etc. I do follow a keto diet as well.
-
I subtract fiber for my carbs and I use this script that makes MFP subtract for you, and calculates macros in percentages so you don't have to. https://github.com/Surye/mfp-keto-userscript
-
Exactly what mjhellmers said is correct for macros. If you want to see an example of what to eat, feel free to add me, my diary is open to friends!
-
You can add me! I log every day, lift 4 days a week, cardio 2 days a week, and follow a keto diet.
-
Type 1 diabetic here.. been through plenty of hypoglycemic episodes and it can be frustrating when you're trying to lose weight. I'd recommend eating as low carb as possible, at Keto levels if you can, in order to stabilize your blood sugars. You should be able to reduce the frequency of having low blood sugars. And when…

I have celiac. I do not eat anything with gluten in it (and an accidental exposure causes a full day of sickness with a few more days of not feeling right). Even if you find a food that contains gluten and doesn't give you physical symptoms, when you ingest gluten your body literally attacks and damages the microvilli of…
