  • Like many others, I get my workout in before work. I get up at 4:15 and workout from 5am - 6am. Then come home, get myself ready and the kids up/fed/ready for school. I work until 5:30pm and will often take a walk in the evenings and lift 3x/week in the evenings. I find that if I don't set the tone and get my workout in…

  • This is one of our favorite recipes - it calls for salmon, but we've done it frequently with Haddock or cod and I think I like it better that way bc the flavor of the crab comes out. You can use less mayo than it calls for to keep the fat low.…

  • I agree on getting out and doing something. Although we left the festival after 30-45 minutes, we went and had some lunch, spent the day/night together and enjoyed ourselves. It was a nice break from the kids and general rush of life. I just would have preferred to spend that $$ on a nice bottle of wine and hang out in the…
  • Which one did you go to? We went to the one in DC and thought it was HORRIBLE. Seriously one of the worst events I've ever been to. The amount of money we paid for the VIP tickets vs what was there was a joke! On the bright side, I didn't eat/drink as much as I thought I would. LOL.

  • Joining a bit late. I'm 5'6 and 132 pounds, but would like to get these last few (7-8) vanity pounds off. I workout hard 5 days a week (Orange Theory, Spinning and BootCamp), and walk 6-9 miles per day on the weekends, but I really need to get back into a regular lifting schedule. I was in my best shape ever when I was…
  • I wear an Orange Theory Fitness HR monitor when I take those classes and it says I burn about 600 for the hour. However, my Apple watch worn at the same time for the same class says around 475-500. I use that as an example because it's the only time I wear two different HR monitors at the same time. Spin class typically…
  • I take a Les Mills GRIT class, which is touted as HIIT. It's in the database.
  • Our OT just opened last week - I've got 4 classes under my belt so far. I do the 5am class, so there are typically only 10-12 people and I find that the trainers have been great so far. The one on the mic is more focused on the treadmill people and the other one is focused on the floor/weight area and I've noticed them…
  • I cut out sugar from my coffee long before I went low-carb...but I have to have cream. Coffee is a creamy drink to me, so I don't have any desire to go black! I add a small splash of hwc or half & half. The 1g carbs is worth the creamy factor.
  • I gave up soda years ago, but sometimes I really want the fizz. Naturally flavored sparkling waters or Club soda with a lime hit the spot for me.
  • I'm 5'6" and have been maintaining at 124-127 for the past several months. It's a good weight for me - the lean-ness allows my muscle to show, I like how my clothes fit, it's sustainable for me.
  • I'm very active with intentional exercise, but I'm always cold. I have chalked it up to size (5'6" 125), but it's my fingers and toes that are the worst. My husband actually commented the other day when he held my hand that my hand was actually warm...because it's always cold. I suspect Raynauds in myself (my one finger…
  • Yes! The Cuisinart grind n brew is exactly the one I was referring to that's a pain to clean. The Capresso is the only one we've found where the bean storage/grinder is separate.
  • Not sure what you consider affordable, but we have this one from Capresso and love it. We like freshly ground, but some of the cheaper grind n brews allow the steam to come into contact with the beans and it's a mess to clean. This one grinds the beans in a separate chamber (still attached to the machine) so the steam…
  • I get up at 4:30-4:45am to get to the gym by 5:15 most mornings. I find that once I get dressed, brush my teeth/wash my face and drive to the gym, I'm awake. I don't do any food or coffee before I work out. I don't know that it gets easier over time, but it does become a habit that you adapt to. Laying out my gym clothes…
  • I love good red wine. Unfortunately for me, my tastes in what is "good" also equals pricey. However, spending $$ on a good bottle and forcing myself to spread it over 2 days (I enjoy my wine in 2 glass increments) allows me to not only enjoy it longer, but also fits my calorie goals.
  • 45-60 minutes
  • Same here. Workout, shower, change back into my same work clothes. To answer the other part of your question, I feel fine for the rest of the day after lifting at lunch (or doing any other sort of workout), but I'm used to exercising before work anyway.
  • I get all my cardio in through spinning and through HIIT. I like it because it doesn't take a ton of time to get an effective workout in and done.
  • Hmm, maybe. I actually spin and do HIIT on the same days. Lift on the in-between days and yoga to end the week. Walking is a mind-clearer for me more than exercise.
  • I'm 5'6" and currently at 125 - I fluctuate between 124 and 128. My job is a desk job, so I'm fairly sedentary, but my intentional workout schedule is pretty moderate. I lift heavy 3x/week, spin 2x/week, HIIT 2x per week, and yoga 1x/week. I also walk about 15-20 miles throughout the week. I stick to around 1500 cals…
  • When we go, we tailgate with food ahead of time. Not only does it help to keep the calories and carbs in check because you know what you're eating, but it also saves $$ and tastes a lot better than 98% of the food you can get there. PS - I'm not far from Baltimore either :)
  • Some months are better than others and I'm able to get through without any extra willpower. This past month...I wanted to eat the paint off the walls! Glad that's over.
  • That's actually not that bad! The recipe that I use for homemade carrot cake is about 925 calories for 1/12 of the cake, including frosting.
  • Most Club soda/seltzer is 0 calorie. Switching out 400-500 calories a night for 0 calories would absolutely make a difference. I drink a ton of Club Soda - it's my primary source of hydration. I don't have an issue with belly bloat at all, although I guess it probably could be a contributing factor for some. Still, I think…
  • I can't stand tonic...too sweet for me. But I love Vodka and club soda with a splash of lime...maybe some muddled mint. Since Club soda is flavorless, this probably grosses you out too, but it really is good! Wine though. Nothing compares to an awesome cab.

  • I have two young kids and work full time. I am at the gym most mornings by 5am, when my husband and the kids are still asleep. I get home at 6:45am and get myself showered and ready for work. I then wake up the kids and get their day started, fed, dressed. We're out the door by 8:15 for school. Once work is done, my…
