I just "invented" a yummy meal/snack today! Ultra low cal- very filling & delish! Best of all, it takes 2 seconds to throw together & you zap it in the microwave. Would be really easy to pack up the raw ingredients & bring to work for lunch (which is what I plan to do tomorrow!) Fresh SPINACH (I like the "spicy spinach…

So your food diary is accurate? Friday you ate 774 cals, Saturday 374?
-
It works as a substitute for mayo-
-
Your food diary scares me @bbc1986
-
@bbc1986 Is the pic in your profile current? You look gorgeous & NOT overweight. What is your current weight/height?
-
@bbc1986 OMG- I looked at your diary- YOU ARE STARVING YOURSELF! THIS IS NOT HEALTHY. Of course you are losing muscle and gaining % body fat. Your poor body is CANIBALIZING its own lean muscle tissue in an effort to keep you alive! FROM YOUR DIARY: Tuesday: 640 calories, Wednesday- 1040 calories, Thursday 835 calories,…

@luluinca I am in AWE of your triceps!! At age 66???? Inspiring!!!

Completely agree. Too skinny is not a good look on women in our age group imho. A little extra plumpness in the face takes a few years off. The problem is keeping it ON our faces and OFF our tummies- weight lifting I think is key. I'm still searching for a program/trainer. Dietitians & nutritionists do metabolic testing.…

Thank you so much for the validation. I get a lot of people who don't believe me. Have you ever had your resting metabolic rate tested? It seems that your maintenance cals should be *far* more than 1400?

I finally found some "go to" proteins that are really simple: 1. Trader Joe's Wild Pink Alaskan Salmon (the whole can= 180 cals & 39g protein) 2. Trader Joes Simply Sliced Turkey: 3 oz= 100 cals/22g protein (contains only: Turkey breast, water, spices- nothing artificial, no preservatives) 3. Organic Whole Milk cottage…

Why are you interested in limiting meat intake? Please clarify?

Apple Cinnamon FEW raisins (optional) Mix together, microwave for 2 min. Top w/a dollup of cold plain or vanilla yogurt. Very satisfying!

You could be losing MUSCLE. That would account for why the % of body fat is increased. EAT A LOT OF PROTEIN- this helps keep muscle and tell the body to burn fat instead. Also, start a weightlifting program asap.

I'm 61 and I've lost 29.8 lbs since January 1st. Quite honestly, it's been the EASIEST thing I've ever done. I could kick myself for not having done this decades ago, but better late than never, right? It really is quite simple- calories in/calories out. That said- if you're one of the "clean eating fanatics" (like I am),…

This hasn't been my experience. In fact, I'm eating much more now than I did when I was heavier (while still keeping my calories in check) and honest to God, I have never once felt a pang of hunger (I've lost 30 lbs since Jan 1). I hope you can find support to help you find foods that leave you satisfied and happy- and a…

I feel the same way- I've lost 30 lbs so far- and frankly it was EASY (started on Jan 1 and was losing about 2 lbs per week). I could have kept going forever on 1200 calories (1200 cals is a LOT of food when you eat very clean). I wanted to reach my goal of total body perfection by the beginning of June (another 16 lbs)…

We could debate whether or not it's "possible". Bottom line, if you were doing well on more calories, why don't you go back to the plan you were on before?
-
@middlehaitch I read your profile- you complain about "saggy skin & a haggard face"- but I certainly don't see that..??? You look wonderful. The "haggard face" thing terrifies me. I've always looked younger than my age and am really not ready to let go of that. (A little extra fat in the face is nice- plumps up the…
-
@middlehaitch Wow! You look spectacular. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm interested in hearing more about your lifting program!
-
Well- actually- I fit into categories #2 and #3 above (as I'm sure many of us do here.) So I guess I'm in luck! (according to the nifty computer-generated printout from the dietician, I am just on the border between "obese" and just "overfat"). How long would you expect the "new to lifting" effect to last? I REALLY want to…

Maybe invest in a personal trainer if you can afford it- or a small group class- and get advice from an expert? I have heard that it may be helpful to leave more time between weight training workouts in order to give the body time to actually build the muscle. If you break down the muscle too frequently, you never get…

Unfortunately I'm at about 41% fat at the moment. So currently there is a big difference.
-
Thanks for all the input. @Carlos_421 I am actually told it's .8 per lb of LEAN body mass- not per lb of current weight. My nutritionist recommended 111g of protein, but I try to get more.
-
It's not really that fast- I've actually tried purposely to slow it down the past month or so in an effort to avoid saggy skin (I know it's no guarantee, but anecdotally slow loss seems to help). I was eating 1200 cals per day, and could have kept going forever at that level- I never once felt hungry. Have upped it to…
-
Thanks to all for input. @HippySkoppy not to worry- not falling into any traps. I have been eating at a deficit since January- down 29 lbs so far- very full, never hungry- a happy camper. Just fine-tuning/trying to optimize. Some of us enjoy being compulsive :)

Thanks @kshama2001 Have you noticed any difference in the rate of weight loss or muscle gain based on percentages that you eat?
