  • I use magnesium gel to rub in. I have a problem with my left quad and my shoulders.Using a massage ball and the gel really makes a difference.
  • When I was measured for a job medical 27 years ago I was told I was just under 5'2" When I was measured for a routine medical at the doctors two years ago I was told I was 5'3" Now I just go for 5'2 1/2" and split the difference :D
  • Yes. The details of these are not what makes news however, just the scaremongering. At a cost... yes, most of us will cope even if the prices go up and the "thing" you want isn't available this week. The majority of kneejerk reaction is due to uncertainty. The panickers will continue to panic. Edit to add: Voted for by a…
  • Before I had my reduction (trust me I had issues..) I found a website called Boobydoo which had excellent sports bras. I assume they are still operating ten years on. It's worth a look.
  • to me you have the build of a teenager on the left. You have filled out a little since. This is normal. Boys usually fill out and become deeper in the chest over their early twenties. You don't look like you are overweight to me. Ok, so you aren't ripped.... you know that. But a lot of people aren't and are fine with that.…
  • Plan the chocolate into your daily allowance. Life can be tough enough even when you aren't struggling with depression.
  • because of our governments inability to sort out a deal if we leave without an agreement in place there will be disruption between our border and the EU. No-one knows exactly to what extent yet. It may be that fresh produce is disrupted to the point it is past it's best when it reaches the shelves. One thing that has been…
  • I'm a little further inland than you, but still a Lancashire Lass. I work in Preston.
  • Thank you! <3 I have an acquaintance who is literally prepping for the end of the world right now, and even has a plan in place to rescue her mother when the riots start. This is all seriously affecting her mental health.
  • are you looking for fancy or just dinner? If it's just dinner then there are plenty of crock pot options. There is also the option of cooking the ham beforehand, and slicing cold. Then you can concentrate on the sides on the day. Not a bad idea if you want to spend time with guests instead of slaving in the kitchen.
  • This may well explain why your thighs are larger than some other people. It sounds like yours will be very strong and muscular. Much better than a smaller size but without the strength.
  • yep. you got this maintaining idea down. the thing is, like most of us you probably put on the weight in the first place by not doing this. Although you may find you can be a little more flexible as the years go by with maintenance you can probably never completely stop being cognizant of the basics. You may still need to…
  • out of curiosity I went on the internet for calorie counters to see what results I would get with your stats. I had to assume an age, so left it at the 25 years that was default in the box. I found this one: The results show a number of daily calorie estimates that can be used as a guideline for how many calories to…
  • I was going to second what @just_Tomek said before you mentioned you were hand-luggage only. The things you mention, like Old Bay and Liquid Smoke, I've managed to get in the UK already.
  • a trip to the spa, and a pair of (quite expensive for me) jeans
  • Years ago I quit smoking for 12 months and put on a stone in weight. It was a swine to shift. And I even started smoking again. However, three years ago I quit for good, around the same time I started getting my weight back under control after being bed-bound with a back injury. I think the prescription meds meant I didn't…
  • As someone who doesn't make personal comments to anyone generally (other than maybe I like your dress or that's a lovely haircut :D ) I really don't like receiving personal comments myself. I find them impolite and intrusive. However, I did get a "wow" from a colleague I haven't seen in a while this week. I quite liked the…
  • I'm 5'2" (and a half... it counts  ) I'm currently spending this year maintaining at or around 127. I'm considering my options and letting myself settle into my lower weight, having lost 60lbs last year. Basically I had 121 - 123 in mind, but look pretty good at this weight so am trying it for a bit. Being a bit…
  • Overheard yesterday at a Charity Fundraiser... “Look mummy, that girl is dressed like Black Widow!” Me: over 50, in a red wig and a jumpsuit I couldn’t have worn at 30.... big grin
  • Ooooh! I didn't realise there was a "name" for what I do! I eat less Monday to Thursday, more Friday to Sunday. I find a stricter watch on my calories during the working week let's me have a more relaxed weekend with friends and family and maintain my weight within a few pounds. If I was trying to lose I'm sure I could do…
  • Fat is essential for brain function, the human brain actually being quite fatty itself. I vaguely remember (this may be faulty, as it's from many years ago) that under 30-something grams of fat per day was considered very a low fat diet, and should not be attempted unless a medical condition called for it. (remember, this…
  • pizza pizza is beautiful. being sat up all night due to acid reflux isn't I get a similar problem with too much pastry :'(
  • No. the weight of food is not just made up of the amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrate. There will also be the weight of any moisture in the food, as you supposed. This is why you need to weigh the food and check it against a reliable entry on the database to figure out how many grams for each macro-nutrient.
  • You have to eat your 1900 calories, plus some of your exercise calories. You don't have a massive amount to lose. What is your weekly goal for weight loss? I would suggest a pound a week max.
  • @imikefb You don't say how many calories you ate - do you have any idea? Cutting out bread and junk isn't particularly extreme, as long as you are eating enough calories when you do eat. What calorie goals has MFP given you, and are you eating those calories?
  • Ok. It's a shocker to be told you are obese. But the good news is that you only need to shed 6lbs to be just overweight. You can do this in 3-8 weeks by putting your stats into MFP and weighing everything you eat (accurately on a scale not cups and spoons) and measuring everything you drink. And sticking to the calorie…
  • Ok. After 6 days hard exercise your muscles will be repairing any micro-tears and this involves fluid retention as part of the repair process. It will come off.
  • You are the same height as me, and 1kg heavier. However I am 32 years older (oh god nooooo) I maintain on about 1680 without any exercise included. In theory you could certainly up your calories a bit and still lose at a sustainable rate. Your goal weight is about what I weighed at 18 (I looked too thin much lighter than…
