  • WW vs Keto Only one of these is a 'commercial' diet, the other one comes for free!
  • Are you sure about the UK net carbs thing? I've been deducting fibre so this means I've been under counting my net carbs! Doh
  • Hi, I have been doing IF 5:2 since September last year (with a break for holidays). At the end of October I went on to a LCHF/Keto way of eating and found the 5:2 fasting easier as I lost cravings on the fasting days and managed to last until a single evening meal, while avoiding overeating the day after the fast day. It…
  • Hi Em Noted. In an attempt to help the OP - try posting the question in the Low Carber Daily forum There is genuine help on this subject there.

  • So, I've read the posts and the OP is asking for help with keto the second time around. They didn't say that they haven't tried any other form of diet that hasn't worked or they got bored with. I've tried the standard CICO calorie thing on and off for years, combined with exercise/logging and counting calories etc. etc.…

  • Hi, I live in the UK and have been LCHF (<30g carbs) for around 10 months (and 40 lbs) I suppose my point would be that on this thread, subject of 'whats with the diet shaming' there are a plenty of folk diet shaming!
  • Try the Low carber forum https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group I've found it really useful since I started in October last year.

  • Hi, I do the same as above but using butter on a med/high heat for 10 mins
  • Interesting reading the posts above, I generally find most people demonise fat over carbs, and the shops are full of 'low fat' options.
  • Hi Just to clarify, are you talking 1g per kg or per pound of body mass? Reading through the posts, (@Sunny_Bunny_) - Sorry, i misquoted you there ;-)) suggests its 1g per pound? Not being pick here, just curious. Thanks
  • It's a tough one. I would think about just trying to fit something in like a 20 minute run or 20 minutes strength training at home after work (or alternate daily) - free weights/kettlebell are pretty flexible. I find it easier if I do this soon after getting home otherwise it just doesn't happen.
  • I'm in for week the final week. Exercise 3 x week (Week 3= :/ 0/3 - injury so I replaced running with sit up's!) Log every day (Week 3= :) 37 day streak) Net carbs below 30 (Week 3= 26 :) ) 5:2 every week (Week 3= :) ) Plan fast days a week ahead (Week 3= :)) Alcohol no more than 3 days per week (Week 3= :)) I haven't…
  • I agree with this from my experience. I track both but tend not to limit calories when I am having a 'hungry' day. I then find that other days I eat under and the averages are good over a longer time. If I restrict calories every day then the hunger seems to stay longer.
  • Hi, You could head over to the LCHF forum https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/394-low-carber-daily-forum-the-lcd-group There are lots of helpful posts including tips when travelling. I tend to just use the 'Hold the ...(bread/pasta/pastry/fries/other carby food ) and try not to stress too much, focusing on…

  • I totally agree - that goes for any diet really. If you stop the diet and return to your previous eating habits then you get the same result. There are many ways to approach this with LCHF/Keto being just one of them. It can work for the rest of your life if it suits you.

  • There are many studies on the low carb/keto way of eating for anyone looking to inform themselves. The forum that I posted a link to above has an abundance of info and clinical studies/references if you would like some education on the subject. There are many people on these forums who have made significant health…

  • I think you are misinformed - you can get all the energy you need from fat via ketosis. There are no nutritionally essential carbs.

  • As for needing carbs for energy - no you don't

  • Back again for week 3! Exercise 3 x week (Week 2= :) ) Log every day (Week 2= :) ) Net carbs below 30 (Week 2= 15 :D ) 5:2 every week (Week 2= :) ) Plan fast days a week ahead (Week 2= :)) Alcohol no more than 3 days per week (Week 2= :)) Posting this has really helped me stick to it - great thread for motivation!
  • I had the same, it seems pretty common when starting out. Now I'm 8 months in I don't have any issues. I followed the 'eat more fat' and 'add salt to everything' approach and it helped me adapt and overcome the initial change. Beef broth also seems to help when feeling tired and lacking energy. Check out the info on…
  • Hi, From the PC -You can do this via the 'My Home' tab and click on the scale symbol in the daily summary box, this takes you to the place where you enter your new weight. From the App (android) click the 'ME' icon at the bottom and there is an option to ADD WEIGHT. HTH R

  • I notice a lot of negativity aimed at the Keto approach, funny that given that it is in a thread about keto, why bother following the thread if you're not into it or have anything positive to add? Looking at the previous posts count in the 'anti' corner it perhaps it may explain! Just saying ;-)
