I agree with both of above. You can’t change now. Whatever you have been doing in training will have to do the trick. Eating more fat is good thing right now though. I presume you eat during your runs also? I know I do during a half marathon. Gels are my friends during anything longer than 10 miles. I did Vegas a few years…

Happy birthday and I love all the virtua cake pictures!!!

I am a bit lower sad to say. My metabolism sucketh. Running 20 miles a week and I have to be below 1700 to not gain much less lose.. sigh. I am 5'10" and 168 in maintenance
-
Ditto above. For me, carbs but mostly portion control. What worked for me... lost 36 pounds and have kept it off for 5 months and counting, is simply committing to the concept. Acknowledging I wasn't eating right and that change was a rest of life commitment. This isn't a short term lose. This is a long term journey

I agree with so many here.. give it time. And yes you can do this. I am almost 59 post menopausal and lost 37 pounds. I run about 20 miles a week..and at a quicker pace with my lower weight! Unlike previous poster, I did gain muscle mass. That is just the way I am.. I get muscles. I lost inches more than pounds at first…

Logging helps me get back on track. Then a post saying recommit. Saying it often makes it happen
-
Log your exercise. Running that many miles is 10 miles a day. Yes you need these calories. My goodness, even training programs emphasize the need to hydrate and eat when running this much. I am really concerned you are not fueling enough actually

^^this. Spaghetti squash or spiralized zucchini or squash.... truly a game changer
-
Glad to see your success!

Agree with your reaction. People amaze me with rather intrusive opinions. For example, the ever present question ... can't you cheat once ? These people don't have your best interests at heart, but rather seek to bring you around to their self satisfaction and view of the world. As you get closer you may or may not…

This was informative post. Thank you OP for your suggestions. It wouldn't be a waste of time or money for me... just another arrow in the quiver.. like a good kitchen scale, good weigh scale in bathroom, good habits ... I like it.

Totally agree with above. However, teens could be 18 or 19! So assuming that, my suggestion is to log your exercise faithfully log your food, meet the suggested macros for protein and carb and calories. Set mfp for sedentary with 1-2 pound loss per week and eat the exercise calories back. Take the time and effort to weigh…

I agree with lemurcat. Most races have huge range of people. The 5k I did last Saturday had all types from little kids to grandparents, some runners some walkers. If this race is for a school, there will be plenty of people like you wondering what they got themselves into! I suggest starting in the final group and just…

I would gain weight at anything over 2000 calories. What works for me is what mfp sets for maintenance with 1/2 pound loss a week, set for sedentary and I eat at least 1/2 of my calories back. Looking at 1700 calories a day maximum. But the real question is.. are you losing at the desired rate given what your calorie…

You asked for ideas to share... 1. For water I drink Perrier. This works for me and I don't miss sodas at all 2. Weigh everything. Measure everyone so you learn what a portion size really is 3. Fresh veggies.. right now that means asparagus and veggies always taste better roasted imho. Although since it is now hot here, I…

Seriously though, like cerise I was up a bit on Monday. It is already gone. Never give up
-
I did it with a friend. I ignored the suplements. Not needed. I did find their protein drinks cheaper online. Bariwise is same product. Use their support one on one meetings a few times a week but don't stress. The emphasis on 3 pounds a week is not healthy, although the emphasis on real foods is sound. A lot of it is…

I may need to use this phrase in real life. Just saying
-
Thanks. I just used the mfp search facility and just discovered the obvious, Rather than the web browser. Haha
-
I feel so stupid. I don't get the phrase "kitten it'. I have seen it here in the posts before but never can figure it out
-
Sedentary, set for maintainance, and try to eat half the calories. Upping my training at the moment so not trying to lose at all
-
I concur with nowine. Lots and lots of water. I reduced my miles a little while losing weight actually and increased them during my current maintenance phase. Why? Because the hangry was getting to me and because it was just too stressful on my body. When I hit maintenance, with the extra fuel and lower weight, my times…

Jeepinshawn - I hear you. Only so much time in the day. So we all have to be smart about it. I see positive feedback from running. RAce Bling! PRs! Social galore. Not so much from lifting, alas, but I am trying to do lifting (body pump) twice a week to avoid injury . At 58 I need to avoid injury. Too much of anything will…

New running shoes. Gasp. More running shoes?
-
It appears to be a mental game. For me, I see the calories mfp computes for running and they appear high, so.... I log a slower pace than I actually ran .. works to reduce that overage and also eat about half back, sometimes more, considering yesterday I ate them all back. Haha! That mental game works for me. Ymmv

Good advice from tavistock! I like how my times went down as I lost weight. But if I want to go further than 10k I have to think about fueling not losing else too much stress on my body
-
Love reading this thread. People celebrating OP success all around. Great job,

I am a huge fan of bariwise fruit flavored protein but you don't smoothie them. 16 oz of water in small blender and grapefruit is my current fave flavor

Wtf is zwift

Who else thought of this thread at socially embarrassing times? Ha!
