  • Well, I sort of fell off the face of the earth (well, at least My Fitness Pal) for the last two weeks. I got a bit overwhelmed with teaching at home (and teaching my own children), like I know many are with working from home, and I just sort of let this go. I did try to stay on track within my mind and honestly, haven't…
  • Monday Weigh-In SW(1/6/2020): 260.4 3/1: 237.3 3/9: 235.7 3/16: 232.9 3/23: 229.8 3/30: 229.6 (-30.8) March Goal: 227.3 I'm bummed with today's weight...and I totally know it's normal for our weight to fluctuate but end of last week I was at 227.7 and thought I did well over the weekend. Oh well...new week of online…
  • Well, today was day 1 of online teaching for me as a middle school science teacher and online learning for my 2 boys (8th grade & 5th grade). To say it was stressful is putting it mildly. I totally give props to those parents who are working outside the home and still have to somehow help their kids do their school work.…
  • Life has been crazy (as I'm sure it is for all of us right now!) and I realized I missed updating for my weigh-in Monday yesterday! I am a teacher and a mom, so not only am I dealing with my kids being off school indefinitely and having to do online learning, I'm also dealing with creating online lessons and still…
  • Weekly Weigh-In So normally I weigh on Monday mornings. I knew I had two events this weekend which would have higher calorie food--a birthday party and a scout celebration, so I did weigh in on Saturday morning. However, I also weighed this morning, and was only up a tad from Saturday, so I'm still taking today's weight as…
  • Hey everyone--I was reading a different thread where people were talking about their frustrations with the scale and the up/down that we see a lot. Someone posted this link: https://physiqonomics.com/the-weird-and-highly-annoying-world-of-scale-weight-and-fluctuations/ and I thought it was a great piece of…
  • @NovusDies That is a great article! I actually clicked to some of his other articles and it's great information. Thanks for posting that!
  • I have a MFP question...do our calories/day automatically adjust as we lose weight? Not that I think mine should yet, but I was thinking about it because I remember that when I started in January and put my info. in, I thought the # of calories it said I should eat was too high, so I lowered it. So I don't know if because…
  • I make it kind of a game...I tend to "pre-log" at the beginning of the day what I'm going to eat all day, so it's all like "how much can I eat and still stay within my calories, etc."? If I pre-log everything and find I have lots of calories left, then I like knowing that if I'm hungry there's still room for more. It also…
  • @sjonathans Welcome to our group! If I were you, to not feel overwhelmed, I would just work with logging what I eat every day. Even if it goes over calories, at least you have a baseline of this is what you ate. Then every day, make an effort to just decrease that some until it becomes easier for you to stay at the goal…
  • Happy March! I feel like these months are just flying by. Or maybe it's my teacher optimism that summer will be here soon! I'd just like warm weather! I'm sick of the the Wisconsin cold & snow! February was a good month by all measures, however I didn't meet the weight loss goal I had set so I'm kinda bummed. I don't think…
  • Monday Weigh-In! SW 1/6:260.4 1/31: 244.8 2/10: 242.2 2/17: 239.6 2/24: 239.5 Feb. GW: 234.8 So I had a MUCH smaller loss (is it even that??) this week than I expected. This past week was TOM for me, so possibly that made a difference. I also did have my Father-In-Law's birthday last night, where I did have dessert but…
  • I was going to suggest some protein shakes/smoothies too, but not necessarily to gain muscle, but to increase your calories in a healthy way. You can still have 3 good, healthy meals a day (or however you normally structure your meals) and then add in a couple protein shakes a day as in between snacks. The protein is good…
  • I also have a very busy life and have found that if I don't plan ahead I am not successful. So, when I plan meals for the week, I plan ones that are low calorie or have a lower calorie component for me, but that my whole family will eat. (So if we are going to have chicken breasts and green beans, my family may also have…
  • @Bella_Figura - Oh my gosh! I have such a math brain and didn't even make that connection! I'm now totally hyped for 6 more pounds! :)
  • Monday Weigh-In SW (Jan. 6, 2020): 260.4 2/1: 244.8 2/10: 242.2 2/17: 239.6 Total loss: -20.8 February Goal: 234.8 Mini Goal: 220 by 4/25 Mini Goal: 199.9 by 7/31 Mini Goal: 174.9 by 10/31 GW: 150 (then re-evaluate) I'm excited to have a loss today! We did go out for a nice dinner Friday night, but I exercised Friday, ate…
  • @BrownSugar174 I think that throughout life I have loved myself and not loved myself. I love the question though! It got me thinking! I would say that right now I'm definitely in a place where I don't love myself. I'm not happy with how I feel and my physical appearance. I judge myself because of it and feel that others…
  • Happy Friday everyone! I just wanted to say how much I love this group and how awesome everyone is! I commented on a different post and some people were just so rude! I'm thankful that we all have each other to help us through this journey! Ok...enough being mushy on this Valentines morning! :D
  • @CupcakeCrusoe - How do you log sushi? I mean, when it's not something like a California roll, something that a local restaurant has "made up"? Just wondering because I've been craving a roll from a local sushi place but have been holding off because I'm not sure how to log it.
  • @mmdeveau - I agree with your statement about "The only person who can lose weight for me, is me." I used to be on a "diet" and eat "bad" food and think that no one would know so it was ok...that obviously didn't work well for me! I soon realized that I was just cheating myself! Now, I don't think of it as a diet, or…
  • @Terytha I completely agree with you about a "budget"! I also did WW (what seems like a life ago!) and lost almost 100 pounds but I was SO strict and I feel like the weight just came back on so easily. I have a "math brain" as a math & science teacher so I definitely kind of love the "game" of what my calories add up to…
  • I definitely find that if I don't have either protein with my dinner or a larger calorie dinner then I am very hungry in the morning. I don't often wake up at night because of it, however. Some people I know will even have a small protein shake/smoothie in the evening as kind of a "dessert" but that protein helps to keep…
  • Every couple weeks I make a big pot of cabbage/veggie soup. It's about 50 calories/cup and so good. It helps when I feel like I just need something to get me through. Here's a link, but there are others that are similar out there. I know it says it's Weight Watchers and I honestly learned about the soup about 17 years ago…
  • When I feel like my weight loss has slowed, I go back to my food diary and "redo" a week in which I had good weight loss. It usually helps to kick start things again, plus helps me remember some foods/recipes I enjoy and maybe aren't choosing currently.
  • Using MFP to me is just a tool to track my calories and have a goal/limit to not go over. You can eat any foods you want, as long as you don't exceed your calorie goal. Obviously, it's suggested you eat foods that are more healthy; fruits, veggies, lean meats, etc., you could essentially eat McDonald's and stay in your…
  • @VictorSmashes I do add one packet of Splenda/some kind of 0 calorie sweetener to the grapefruit just to make it a bit less tart. Just had some as part of my lunch and it was delicious!
  • Weekly Weigh-In SW (1/6/20): 260.4 January loss: -15.6 February Goal weight: 235 Ultimate Goal weight: 150 (then re-evaluate) 2/1/20: 244.8 2/10/20: 242.2 (-2.6) I struggled mentally this past week in not believing that my body knew what the heck it was doing! Obviously I just need to chill out, because I am very happy…
  • If it were me, I would create a "recipe" and put in all the ingredients individually. I know it might be hard to know exactly how much of each ingredient you have, but I'd try that. The other suggestion I would have, is look up how many calories Teriyaki sauce is and then adjust the serving size of the entry until that…
  • I looked at your diary and overall it looks like you are eating a good balance of foods. The questions I have first revolve around your calorie goal...I'm not sure how much you weigh/your activity level, but your calorie goal seemed high to me, so maybe revisit that. The second question is about when during the day you are…
  • @mmccloy12 I do weigh and measure and feel that I am accurate. I even measured the food I ate last Sunday so I could record those calories. My goal is 100 ounces of water a day. In all honesty, I usually average between 70-100 ounces depending on the day. I know it's suggested to drink half your body weight in ounces of…
