Got to the end reading all the posts! I'm on my phone so I have a hard time tagging, but I'm here supporting all of you.
Special tags for @BrownSugar174 -well done! And yum, new orleans!
@speyerj I read about your water weight bounce back, and it made me think that maybe part of my signal noise might be the days I forget my meds, so thanks for the sharing, it helps! You're doing great!
@svm569 I know it seems like everyone's losing more than you, I totally feel that way sometimes. As you go on, you'll be a victim of your own success because weight loss will slow as you get closer to goal. But that's just another challenge- how to do this for the rest of your life painlessly. And you can do it.
I've had a good weekend, staying at about calorie goal every day, even in the face of fast food my brother brought us 🙈.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this week is going to bring. Today was running day and so is tomorrow, I've got food pre-logged for tomorrow, and it looks delicious.
I scored tickets for a podcast live show in a couple months that I cannot wait for. Already thinking in my head what Future Hotter Me is going to wear. 😂
Another week ahead! Let's kick it!9 -
@shrinkingshorty37 welcome to the group, and I wish you all the best on your weight loss journey.4

Thank you @Curvybaja55!2

I never thought I would have forgotten to eat my favorite snack food. I prelogged it and got busy talking with Boyfriend about the paranormal romance series I'm going to write, and forgot about eating snacks til I got tired. Oops.6

Morning all, I have a plan. I'm noticing my weight loss is still happening after a mega loss in January but it's levelling off a bit and when I stand on the scales and they go down I'm happier and when they go up I'm a bit deflated. Sooooo I'm thinking in March I keep logging, I keep exercising but I hide the scales away for the month. Maybe I should start slower and go for a week!7

Hi everyone, just wanted to let you all know that MFP hasn't been letting me comment on anything in the newsfeed for a few days now. Seemed to be working again yesterday but now it's back to not working. So anyway, just know that I am "liking" your posts and excited by all of the great losses and exercises and diaries!8

Congratulations, @orangequilt!
@svm569 - I'm glad to hear that you are OK with the progress you are making. I didn't think anyone had a 20-pound weight loss on this thread - most of us would be ecstatic to lose 14 pounds in a month.
Since I decided to weigh daily this time around, I started following a challenge thread about daily weighing for 100 days at a time, because I wanted to know if my experience with daily weighing was typical. (Like our monthly thread, a new thread is started when the 100 days is up, and I've been following since September.) To be honest, this will be my last go-round with them because of a couple things I see that I need to sit on my hands about. One person on the thread posted for all of six days, and in that time he lost 21 pounds doing the keto diet. Then his posts on that forum stopped, and posts he made in other forums regularly stopped as well. My gut tells me he got very ill and is recovering - and that's the best case. It's also very possible he is dead, and I wish I didn't think that's true.
I have nothing specific against the keto diet - if it works for you and you feel good following it, that is wonderful for you. A few years ago I did something keto-ish and I felt like crap all the time. And it is something that I tried for a long enough time that any keto flu would have passed.
But the body is not meant to withstand a 21-pound weight loss in such a short period of time. When type 1 diabetics go into DKA, it is a life-threatening situation and lands most of them in the ICU for a bit of time. Technically, this man should not have been in DKA if not a type 1 diabetic, but I could easily imagine that with that staggering amount of weight loss in so short of a time he could have put himself into severe ketosis - which would have similar symptoms as DKA.
Long story short: there are worse things in this world than slow weight loss!
Another thought I have is that if you feel as though you are working really hard and it's not reflected in your weight loss, why not slow down? I think one of the things I'm better at this time around is managing my activity so I can always challenge myself when the weight loss train needs to get moving again. Going all out right at the start means your body will adapt to that level of activity that much sooner, and when you need to kick things into a higher gear to see results it might not be possible.
Also, make sure you're tracking progress from multiple perspectives so you are not so beholden to the scale. Measurements, pictures, etc. One of the things that makes me happiest nowadays is discovering I can walk/run further than I did before - maybe for you it would be the number of push-ups you are able to do!9 -
Monday Weigh-In!
SW 1/6:260.4
1/31: 244.8
2/10: 242.2
2/17: 239.6
2/24: 239.5
Feb. GW: 234.8
So I had a MUCH smaller loss (is it even that??) this week than I expected. This past week was TOM for me, so possibly that made a difference. I also did have my Father-In-Law's birthday last night, where I did have dessert but stayed in my calories for the day. Possibly just not enough time passed from my bigger meal/dessert last night to my weigh-in this morning. However, I do tend to get on the scale almost daily and didn't really see it moving this week, which could go back to TOM. So??? I did exercise 4 days this week, and felt like I really pushed it hard on 2 of the days. I have a friend that I exercise with and I say she's my very own Jillian Michaels so I know I'm not slacking there. It's a new week though, so even though I'm a bit deflated because I'm most likely not going to hit my February goal weight, I know that I'm down over 20#'s and it's a marathon, not a sprint!
Have a great week everyone!8 -
Getting back into the swing of posting and starting with yesterday's stuff.
@mmdeveau Congrats on getting into the run. What a wonderful way to top off a successful week of loss and hitting goals. I know you are super excited and will do great. Excellent advice about losing too fast and using other things besides scales as a measure of success.
@svm569 You have a solid plan for reaching your goal. When it comes to weigh ins we are all different. I do try to weigh every day and use an app but I forget. The up and downs don't bother me but I know many who get thrown for loops. Just do whatever gives you peace of mind and works best in your plans.
@gorgeous2343 You can do it. Focus on changing and sticking with one thing at a time that will be easy for you to maintain and give results. As that becomes habit add another change in. We all want the weight gone fast but in the long run slow and in a sustainable way is better for overall success.
@VictorSmashes Congrats on hitting a new low!! I eat a moderate amount of refined carbs due to inflammation and ibs issues. Complex ones from veg etc doesn't seem to bother those as much for me. There are overage days but I think the overall week is keeping things in check better. I hope it works out for you and much luck with your exams.
@Tattoomama4440 It is frustrating when the weight comes off slowly. Try to focus on how much better any loss is when compared to the alternative. You are improving your health and becoming stronger. Reading threads is a great way to stay in a good mindset. This group is the best when it comes to support. I also like to read the success section and general sections ie fitness, nutrition. Doing this gives me a boost plus I learn so much more from reading what others are doing. Stay focused and keep at it. Even little bit is important.
@CupcakeCrusoe Props on having the week set and ready to go. I bet your Future Hotter self will be smokin' for the podcast.
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 Forgetting to eat is something I can't say happens to me often. Your plans for writing a romance series sounds interesting.
@fitchick37 If the scales are a stress then doing a weekly check could be better for you. Losses are slower as we progress and goodness know the ups and down are frustrating. Find a balance that you can live with and be happy.
@orangequilt Awesome job!! You are doing great.
@vegasgirl0825 I think tom and the bday party probably played a part in today's weigh in. You are doing all the right things so keep at it.
This week I plan to get my exercise routine back on track. I know I feel much better when I'm active. I got protein ready for the week and need to fix a pot of beans to have also. Taking the time to decompress has helped and I feel more like myself and am ready to tackle it all again. Here's to a great and productive week.

This week I'm experimenting with snacking.
I usually hate snacks. I feel like they just make me more hungry by reducing the pool of calories I can use for meals while also not being satisfying at all.
But I've just been getting so hungry every day at like 2-3 pm. Which has resulted in some unfortunate chocolate binges when I get home.
So I bought grapes. They're somewhat more filling since they're fruit and only 70 calories per 100 grams. Also they last in the fridge longer than a day. I prefer raspberries but they sure don't last at all. Plus, expensive.8 -
It's a new day!!! I did 15 minutes of exercise today and I'm logging my food!! I'm so proud of myself. I've been staying away from the sweets, cooking, eating healthy, and staying in my calories. I will assure you though I eat all of my calories. LOL8

@AlexandraFindsHerself1971 oooh paranormal romance! very cool genre.
@fitchick37 I'm having those feels right now. Hopefully going weekly will help you!
@Tarzan37 I know right? MFP is so glitchy and terrible these days. Hopefully they're just working on a rebooted, better site.
@orangequilt congratulations!
@mmdeveau I really appreciate your medical perspective, just wanted to put that out there.
@vegasgirl0825 I feel this. Try not to let it get into your head, just keep trusting the process and you'll come out on top!
@bluffgirl67 I really think of you like our thread cheerleader, and if there's a person that deserves a break, it's you. I'm glad you feel refreshed and ready to tackle it all again.
@terytha I am a snacker extraordinaire. I do find it helps not to be HANGRY when I approach my meals, just kinda hungry, so snacking helps me that way a lot! When I'm hangry, poutine and ice cream look much more appealing.
@gorgeous2343 I'm glad you're feeling good about this. We're here for you.
I had a good day (prelogging my food and tweaking as I go helps me a lot for macros). My running has suffered a bit lately. I think it's because I'm prioritizing protein, because of lean body mass, etc. The running side of me wants CARBS. Which is fine, but for now, I think I'll stick the course. The scale is being mean to me, but when is it not . I know with consistency I'll get there, and if there's one thing I am right now, it's consistent.
Hope you all had a lovely day, it's another day tomorrow! Lifting day! Maybe I'll actually get to the squat rack!7 -
Good afternoon!
I didn’t get to post my weigh in on Friday on this thread. But I did input it in MFP. Although it did not show on my news feed…still not sure why.
I am having a little bit of difficulty adjusting to my new work environment with the staff being cut in half. I am exhausted by the time I get home and I am a little disappointed that I let that interfere with moving more. I mean I have a treadmill smack right in front of me at home but just couldn’t get moving.
I did a lot of work this weekend getting my spare room ready to move the treadmill and the new home gym in there. I am in the process of getting rid of many things my son has been hording and I had moved it all in the spare room at first, now moving it out to the garage and staging my yard sale.
It just seems I only have so much energy. I am not getting much sleep and I am sure it is that on top of the change at work.
I stayed under calories all week but some days were low and I think that affects my weight loss…you know the “you have to eat to lose weight”…but I also ate some new things that were higher in fat/sodium. I have calories down and now I am trying to really focus in on the macros.
Only lost .4 lbs but I am ok with it…still on track to meet my goal for February and I did reach one of my long term goals for 2020…lose 10 pounds and get a pedicure…who knows when I will be able to get one but it’s nice to know that I met that first goal! Next goal…20 more pounds and I get a new pair of jeans!
This thread is booming and I am a little overwhelmed by the amount of posts! I try to read all of it but can’t keep anything straight on who is doing what and when lol
But everyone is doing great and interacting and giving advice and sharing experiences! That’s what this is all about!
Here are my stats!
OW – 276.6 (Jan 2019)
2020 start weight – 252.2
CW - 247.0 – February 1, 2020
February goal - 241.0 (6 lbs.)
2/7-goal-245.5 – 243.6
2/14-goal - 244.0 – 242.4
2/21 - goal -242.5 – 242.0
2/28 - goal -241.0
Total loss for 2020 – 10.2 (Yay! I get a pedicure!)
Total loss since OW –34.6
-Move more – Only got on the treadmill once last week
-Limit alcohol intake – Done! No alcohol this month so far
-Continue to log and drink water – Done!

Down another pound today, which was good, because I had a lot of fibromyalgia pain and stiffness due to the weather. (My body hates rain and chill.) Not too productive a day for me, but since staying on track is pretty much the default, it wasn't a problem.
I will admit that one of my meds has appetite suppressive qualities. And the condition that it is supposed to be treating has as one of its symptoms hyperfocus. I'm not surprised I forgot, just bemused.
Working out how exactly to handle the bid on the new house, and waiting for packing boxes to arrive from Amazon. Given that it's supposed to rain tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday, I'm hoping they shrink-wrapped the stack.
Starting a new workout plan tomorrow; I'll work out on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. This works round Boyfriend's work schedule with the car; when he works downtown, I take him to the bus stop on Tuesdays and Thursdays and pick him up from there, and thus have the car for errands and shopping those days. We have one car for three people, so it will get REALLY interesting when Girlfriend starts taking classes that aren't online.6 -
I definately need more outlets with people dealing weigh and life like me. I've been over 200 since I was young, my highest was 350ish. I was 5'11" but i lost about an inch thanks to a disc being removed from my back or getting old who knows lol. (I'm 35 ;-p)
Jan 27 - 280.4 (sw)
Feb 10 - 278.6
Feb 18 - 272.2
Feb 23 - 271.0
Slow and steady this month, want to break into 260s by March, and try to get to the gym 4 times this week as my back will allow.11 -
Hey y’all!! I went on a cruise and did not gain back any weight! I will take that as a win!!!17

**had a re-weigh today to give me a couple days after TOM, and water weight be gone!
HW: 268 (8/2019)
SW: 255 (1-31)
CW: 242.8 (2-24)
I didn't set a goal weight this month, wanted to see what my body could do. My meal plan I follow is for 2lb loss per week and I have exceeded that already. YAY...I am letting my body get re-adjusted to working as a nurse so I have cut back on my cardio this week, but I have kept up my strength training. I had been home with my son from 8th month of pregnancy until he was 7.5 months old. I am struggling to get my water in at work so I need to improve that...My water goal is to take in half my body weight in ounces and I am getting about 64 oz. which is recommended but I honestly feel better if I get over 120 oz.

@BrownSugar174, you look wonderful! I can see the joy in your smile.
@lbostic89, I am sending good vibes for you and your family. Also, great loss!
@AlexandraFindsHerself1971, I hope it goes well! House hunting is rough.
@speyerj, you got this. I can't imagine how discouraging it would be, but you got this.
@KeriA, well, happy early birthday!
@svm569, great loss! I also struggled with cravings the last few weeks, so that has been rough. I hate pushups, lunges, anything that makes me feel "heavy"
@angelexperiment, @jguldi11, and @ericak6722, great work with the losses!
@kaitlinjcarlson, welcome! I'll shoot you a friend request. I am also hoping to lose around 100lbs, we can do this.
@mmdeveau, sounds like you've been rocking Feb! Also, congratulations on being accepted to the run. Good luck!
@gorgeous2343, welcome! Taking it day by day is a win.
@VictorSmashes, fluctuations are wild, they can be so discouraging, but I just try to remind myself that if it is a true fluctuation, it will come back to what it was originally.
@Tattoomama4440, we will all be here when you do decide to log on. I hope the conversation with your doctor goes well.
@shrinkingshorty37, welcome!
@fitchick37, the scale can really suck sometimes. Do you take measurements? That can be a better indicator of progress than the scale sometimes.
@orangequilt, woot! Great work.
@vegasgirl0825, a loss is a loss! If you did push hard, your muscles can retain water from being sore? Also my TOM really throws off the scale for me.
@bluffgirl67, welcome back, we missed you Have a great week!
@mmccloy12, sometimes our bodies just need a little break and a reset, especially with the stress you're experiencing at work.
@takera16, welcome! I have also struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember.
@flimflam87, woo!
Have a great week everyone!8 -
kaitlinjcarlson wrote: »Hey guys!! I’m looking to add some pcos friends with similar goals and start weights and struggles. I started last February (2019) after TTC for over a year. The gynecologist suggested I lose 100lbs before getting serious about ttc with clomid or anything like that so that’s how this started.
Starting weight: 282
Current weight: 251.6
Goal weight: 170
Basically I’m counting calories, trying to make healthier choices but not doing anything too restrictive for sanity and sustainabilities sake. I also have been doing fitgirls guide 28 day jumpstart at home workout which I love. But I’m kind of on a weird break right now because I got my tonsils taken out on the 19th so there isn’t much I can comfortably eat and working out is kind of off the table for now.
Anyway!! I’d love to add some friends if you’re interested!!
I have pcos. All I did to be honest with you to get to my fertility to change was I stopped eating anything w soy in it. They say avoid phytoestrogenic foods. I started taking a herbal to get my period. And walking exercise seemed to help my period regulate. I didn’t really lose much at that time. It’s weird I’ve always been heavy set. But back then when I was trying I weighed a lot less. But it’s not impossible, I have 5 kids now. My first 3 were 6 years apart bc of my fertility issue and then the rest were 2/3 years apart. I seem to be more fertile the older I am and I wasn’t trying to lose weight at those times either3
