  • You can add me, and anyone else reading this can add me as well.
  • What is Love that Olive?
  • Do you mix the salsa with something? Or just eat it served over the salad? Got the fat covered. However, with the amount of calories in dressing, I could eat half a chicken! :)
  • In my experience, they fade with time. There are over the counter ointments you can purchase, but they are likely snake oil.
  • Wow. Just wow. Also, what does kitten mean? Sorry, I'm clearly newer. I am happy for you that you are out this toxic relationship. You don't deserve to be treated so terribly. Seriously, what made him so self righteous so as to tell you such a thing? I wonder why she didn't show up? Cold feet you think? Or did something…
  • Perhaps you could pose it to her that you want to be healthier, and therefore you want to cut back on cooking so many starches, and ask her help in coming up with cooking ideas? She may see through it, but at the same time it would engage her. If she pushes back that you shouldn't "penalize" the rest of the family, just…
  • I try to educate those who feel they are exempt. I think people feel exempt due to a lack of understanding. Yes, the morbidly obese person eating 6000 calories a day will lose quickly (initially) on CICO, but that person has a situation which only applies to them. Realize the example is extreme, but people often focus on…
  • You can have excess Vitamin D. It is uncommon, but I do know one person who had it. I believe you might be referring to Vitamin C and Vitamin B, which are water soluble so get lost in urine.
  • You made my day. I don't plan cheat days, I just let them happen organically, which is generally one every 10 days. But I LOVE cupcakes, and will be getting one for my next cheat day. Thanks for the spark. My cheat day is just like enterdanger's. I don't track on MFP that day, except maybe breakfast since again I…
  • Please make sure to involve her, perhaps setting up an appointment to meet with a dietician where both you and she can go. This way she can learn and identify ways that you can work towards it. Make it a family thing: "we will all eat healthier". Also, data indicates that most young people drink their excess calories, so…
  • Thank you everyone! I appreciate the reaffirming that yes, it is okay for one or two items of clothing to not fit better where as others do. It makes me feel not so crazy  Since on the topic, does anyone have a good story or even pictures of an item which did not fit them and now fits very well? I have this one pair…
  • How is everyone doing? I had one day where I did not walk. It was pouring rain and while I could have gotten an umbrella, that wouldn't have worked so well for the dog. It's an excuse, but so far just one day missed.
  • Let's begin tomorrow. We can call it the end of month challenge. :p My goal is that it becomes part of my routine, and it no longer needs to be a challenge. However, until then, it is an end of month challenge! I haven't measured how long the walk is, but I think going from no long walk to long walk is good progress for…
  • If you are under your calories, no. I think the problem with sugar is that it is easy to consume large amounts without feeling full. Consider how you can have a delicious milkshake worth ~800 calories, and that is only a drink! Sugar also leads to blood sugar spikes and drops, which will make you more hungry quicker.
  • Is your potassium actually low? Or are you just noticing that when you check your potassium intake on here, it isn't hitting where you want it to be?
  • That said, acupuncture is generally considered safe. If you have the funds and want to give it a try, why not? I don't think I'd expect amazing weight loss from it, but it might be fun to try.
  • They sell a four pack of Halo Top at Costco for $12? I'll have to go sometime. I've been spending $5.99 at Whole Foods, per pint!
  • To OP- what is it you are looking to purchase that costs significantly more than a non-healthy alternative?
  • I do a multivitamin, I'm supposed to take Vitamin D and a host of Vitamin B's, so I just found a multi that had sufficient amounts of both.
  • I find that the scanner is generally reliable, but sometimes the serving size is off. Definitely a good idea to give a quick glance, but if it looks right based on the quick math in your head, go with it.
  • Just looked it up, turns out Shoprite near me sells Enlightened. I'll give it a try.
  • This is so true. If he eats in a cafeteria it may be more difficult to truly know how much he is eating, but he can get a good idea. It also allows him to teach himself how to estimate what he is consuming when he eats out, which is valuable knowledge. If he eats at home even better: he can control what he buys.
  • I actually lost weight in college. Then when I moved back home I gained it all back, and then some. Why? Because I was walking less, and eating more. Do you track what you eat on the app? Just do calories in - calories out. You most likely won't be weighing your food, but you can get a good idea of what you are eating…
  • I have nothing more to add--everyone above said it all. Starvation mode won't cause you to gain weight like that, and in medical literature is heavily debated as whether it actually causes weight gain. Is your nutritionist a registered dietitian? If so, you need to find a new one. If not, you need to find one. A…
  • I like Halo Top, the only thing I don't like is the price. I can sometimes get it at Giant, otherwise I have to go to Whole Foods where it is priced as if it contained gold ($6.99!). I have never heard of Enlightened, how many calories in a pint? Where can you buy it? I have not seen it at Giant or Whole Foods near me. I…
  • That is a terrible experience. I'm sorry to hear that. I'm glad you moved on. You deserve so much better!
  • I'd like to think I would. But I don't know. There are people who advocate for fat shaming as motivation.
  • I'd think that anything made in a factory setting is likely reliable. I think it is where you have a high possibility of human error that you run a significant risk of unreliable calories.
  • Wow. There is a friend of the family who used to do that to her daughter. If the daughter reached for chips, the mother would immediately scold her. It was uncanny how quickly the mother could go from normal conversation with you to scolding her daughter, and then back to conversation: "well this weather is…
  • I'd hope he isn't so dramatic about his friends!
