When I decided to take control of my weight I was 253lbs. It took me almost 3 years to get to between 190lbs and 184lbs depending on the time of month. I have been at this stage for awhile and would love to kick start the process again. I go to the gym 5- 6 days a week. Does anyone think add acupuncture is a good/ safe adjunct to help with weightloss

That said, acupuncture is generally considered safe. If you have the funds and want to give it a try, why not? I don't think I'd expect amazing weight loss from it, but it might be fun to try.

It's safe and might help with symptoms, e.g. anxiety. Just like hot tea when you have cold, it will help somewhat but it's not gonna cure it. You still have to do your homework - diet and exercise.

I think in the respect of helping with pain, and mobility, so that you can be more active, and burn more calories. Last year I had one treatment and it really helped with my spine/back/rib pain. I don't think they can stick a needle anywhere to help with digestion, or metabolism.

Omg RoadDoggie. I already tried that. It works until someone tickles you, and you laugh and your lips rip and bleed everywhere. :bawling:

Put the Acupuncture needles through the upper and lower lips and then twist the ends. That'll work.

I believe in the general model of Western reductive medicine. However, I have seen enough anecdotal evidence to suggest there is something true about acupuncture...I just couldn't say what it is.

I don't even know how to verify practitioners of it being credible but I wouldn't rule it out for pain management or stress, personally. I don't think there is a great risk...and certainly mood/overall health attitude is important.

    My opinion: safe=probably

I can say anecdotally I knew people who has used it for pain management for cancer and back pain who claimed it provided some relief.

If you're already losing weight at a good clip, why mess with it? No need to "kick start" what's already moving. Just stick with it and be patient.
