Finished the Alex Delaware book. Good enough to read the next one at some point. Now reading Son of a Liche by J Zachary Pike. Second book of a trilogy. I liked the tongue in cheek fantasy satire of the first book and it still had a story too, so now on this one. About seven chapters in and it is a good as the first book.

I try to read some every day. No specific goals other than that. So far this year I have read 91 books.

What I'm reading right now: Over the Edge Alex Delaware book 3 by Jonathan Kellerman. Psychologist murder mystery / thriller. A pretty good series of books up to this point.

@beard347 Very inspiring! Go Indiana! :)

"Are you losing weight? On purpose?"

Hello! I didn't start martial arts until I was 56 and though I had been losing weight, I was still 30 pounds over weight. I guess I had sort of a 'late life' crisis haha. It took 3 years and 8 months (but who is counting) to get my black belt. I can tell you it takes great perseverance and determination which I am sure you…

30 days - 310,000 steps. maybe a little ambitious, or maybe not, hard to say with holidays in the mix. Happy stepping everyone!
-
Beat my goal - though looking back it probably wasn't really a stretch goal. I will make it a little tougher on myself for November. Thanks for the challenge - it helps keep me mindful of my activity.

I started jump rope for the cardio - high intensity interval type training and found it does also really burn the calories. It's not nearly as bad on my old knees as running either, another reason I took it up. I enjoy it, but it is slow going at first - my body put up a protest.

And here is what I am doing:

In for 275,000. Going to try for 300,000 if I can get better doing my steps on the 4 Saturdays and 4 Sundays. 14,763 yesterday, 10/1

@serindipte Sent you a request. Anyone else that wants to connect - same name there. Thanks

Ok, I made my 250,000 step goal for September. I didn't pick up my steps on the weekends and that is something I want to do, although probably not much on Saturdays as I do a lot of martial arts and am worn out on most of them.
-
So, I'm not really doing a lot better on getting more steps on the weekend, but it looks like I will make my goal by the end of the month.
-
Still not quite daily, but trying.

Wow, I thought I was getting going pretty good... https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10631512/100-000-pushups-in-2018/p9

Holy crap! Inspiring. Nice dedication and persistence!

Still not getting them in every day, but I'm working on it. Decided against logging planks for now.
-
So, yeah, I slacked off on my steps on the weekend again. Primarily Sundays as on Saturday I usually do about 3 hours of martial arts and I'm pretty worn out. I've got to change that, still working on it.

A lot of great advice already. 2 pounds a week is the generally accepted safe maintainable number. Much more loss per week is generally not something you can do for life and to truly lose weight and keep it off, it has to be just that: A new lifestyle. You're actually doing pretty good. Keep in mind your body needs time to…
-
@Gamliela - wow you really get a lot of steps, it's inspiring, great work! I just don't seem to be able to make that kind of time to walk, though perhaps after retirement which never seems to get much closer lol. Still on the fence with tracking planks - did some plank/leg lifts at martial arts lesson last night though.
-
Ok, I need this to keep me doing them and tracking. Haven't been doing daily, but will now. I've got 110 now so doing daily hmm I'll set it at 500 for the month for now. I might look at doing the planks too - We'll see.
