Just my 2 cents: if you hate driving far to go to a gym, you probably won't keep up with it. I know I wouldn't. I think I would invest a bit more in your home gym then. You are doing great btw!

I keep my Fitbit on day and night and I try to eat back about half the added exercise cals it transfers to MFP. That works for me and it gives me the perfect data for my excel where I track cals eaten (net and total from MFP) and cals burned (Fitbit). I do lift 2 to 3 times a week but I don't track it as a specific…

Hi Claudia, welcome. Feel free to join our monthly motivation thread, we have some good vibes there.

Are you using a shaker? I have a good protein powder but I really need to use a shaker and then move vigorously for about a minute. Stirring with a spoon won't do the trick.

This sounds very familiar to me (together for 32 years now), and I have to add: * It is impossible to ignore hard snorers, really impossible. The comparison with a chainsaw is not far off. I had nights where I started to cry because I was so tired and frustrated that I couldn't sleep. Ignoring it wasn't an option. We…

My weekly check in: * I got 93k steps in due to some heavy spring gardening. Saturday was an unexpected beautiful day and we went out to the garden and completely remodeled one of the flower beds. Despite being very sore on Sunday morning, we got back to it and did our inside spring cleaning. This morning we woke up in a…

It sure is sodium, you didn't gain a pound by just one meal ! You've got this !

Your assumption is right and I guess you can't find anything online as it is the core of her theory and she wouldn't put it up on the net for free I guess  . The flashcards are very personal, but these are mine: * an "Extra" card that reminds me that I'm in good flow and should be proud; that I always should eat…

Welcome to the group @pnrbor ! This is easy for me, I just had to copy my flash card: I am an avid diver and I want to be able to carry my heavy set to remote diving spots. I want to feel good at the gym, both in looks and performance Be as fit as I can now but also later. At 53 I see friends and colleagues starting to…

@DragonRider17: it depends from your personal settings, mine starts to add up exercise calories as from +- 3.000 steps. Everything less will be considered as your normal daily (sedentary) routine. As soon as you will be over this threshold, your calories will start to show.

And also: I read my mails on my phone and do my daily Wordle game while walking around, whether at home or at the office.

I completely agree on the discipline part! @Honeybadger302: I hope your refund arrives soon; this is some nightmare stuff indeed !!

@SherryRueter: I have an app called Anki, that reminds you every day (or whenever you set it) to read some study flashcards. I have flashcards with my "Why's" and "what if's". Every morning, I get a reminder to read them and it won't go away until I did. It forces me to be mindful about what I am doing. Maybe this can help…

Monday morning, time for some stats: * I got 82k steps in despite having the mother of all colds, I'm still sniffing today * continue to read Becks flashcards: check * 2 fitness sessions: only one session as I started to get sick on Wednesday * 1 PT session every 2 weeks: check * Lose a bit: from 74 (163 lbs) to 72,5 (160…

Something that won't work for everyone, but certainly does for me is Beck's diet solution. It doesn't give food advice, but shows how to retrain your brain using behavioral techniques. Every time I stray away from healthy habits, I grab the book again and the exercises (for the brain) really help me to get back on track.

@k8richly: thank you for starting the March thread right after coming back. As for me, my goals are: * 340.000 steps * continue to read Becks flashcards -I've installed an app to remind me every day * 2 fitness sessions / week * 1 PT session every 2 weeks: my therapist tries to stretch out our visits to the max as my…

I also have a desk job, mainly working from home. As you said: walks during lunch breaks, outside if weather permitting, otherwise inside (around the dining table, through the living room towards the kitchen and back). Also, I go to the gym 2 times a week after work and do some biking and diving during the weekend.

@HoneyBadger302; I'm glad you found a good dentist. A friend of mine has the same issue and she goes to a children's dentist. @k8richly: I'm glad you are back and that everything went fine for the funeral. Such a relief and a good way to close off a chapter. @CeeBeeSlim: don't get spooked about erythritol - this thread…

First of all, kudos for logging during 8 months ! I think you need to ask yourself what will provoke the most anxiety: the thought of possibly gaining weight, or the chore of logging? Only you can answer that - there is no right or wrong - and then you'll know what to do.

Almost 9 pounds down!! Great work !

Great @RobinAlex666 ! Sending you some extra ehugs @SherryRueter :kissing_heart: And it is Monday, which means stat time: * 122.000 steps. We have spent the weekend in a cabin in the Ardennes and we made some spectacular walks. I've finally closed the gap towards my stepping goal, and then some. * continue to read Becks…

For me there are three types of "hungry": * That nagging, uncomfortable feeling, sometimes a rumble in the stomach. Perfectly normal and you can still wait to eat if needed. * A craving hungry feeling. It's more psychological than physical and mostly directed towards a specific food or foodgroup. I started to recognize…

@SherryRueter : have a safe trip, keep your eyes on the road! Monday morning, time for some stats: * 72.000 steps. There still is a gap towards my final goal, but we will spend the weekend with friends in the Ardennes and we will do some long walks. Looking forward to it !! * continue to read Becks daily and do the…

@everyone: thank you for your thoughts. The funeral went well but extra worries have erupted, as it is now obvious that my mother in law has Parkinsons' / Alzheimers'. First days I thought she was in shock after the passing of her partner, but there is more at hand obviously. @CeeBeeSlim : what a scare!! I'm just glad you…

Welcome @onthisroadagain & @lrw327 ! The first week of Feb is already gone... jeez... Things considering with the funeral prep and the family drama, I did pretty well: * 60.000 steps, so a bit short here due to spending a lot of time in the car driving up and down to my mother in law to prep the funeral. *…
