So this was almost 2 years ago, and after 6 lockdowns (250 days total) in the most locked down city in the world, and a divorce, I am 10 kgs heavier. Safe to say the effort I put in to trying to maintain didn’t work. I won’t beat myself up about it, it’s been a pretty *kitten* time, but I’m back and ready to go again, and…

Thanks for your message and well wishes 🥰

Good luck Carolyn!! I’m doing the same, but don’t have a group. I wish I did.

I’m exactly the same. This is a bit of a pattern for me. I’ve yo-yoed for years. As soon as it becomes difficult for whatever reason I make excuses and stop tracking. This time round I’m going to work hard to make sure I don’t let this virus be an excuse. I’m going to use it as a chance to work on maintenance since I’m…

I’ve put on 5lbs which I’m really upset about. I had hoped to switch to maintenance as I was only 10lbs off my goal, but had a few days where I slipped with logging and was stress eating because food was right there. My husband had bought a bunch of unhealthy snacks for the kids and usually I’m good at resisting, but…

I like to record my exercise and eat back half the calories as I’m set to minimum exercise. I’ve been doing that for 8 weeks now and based on my loss it seems to be fairly accurate when it actually records my HR.
-
Also, I don’t really have any supportive friends IRL. My husband is obese and never exercised. My friends all give me grief when we get together if I don’t partake in the unhealthy snacks, saying I don’t need to worry about losing weight. Socialising is a big part of my life, we eat out almost every week, so that’s the…

That’s awesome! Way to go!!

Hi Pinks, I’m there with you. I’ve been using the app in and off for a number of years but keep getting off track. I’m determined to do it right this time. Wanna help keep each other on track?

Wow thanks everyone, there’s a lot for me to think about. I do need to embrace the ‘eat for health’ idea. I also feel a bit like I’m an all or nothing person and that may contribute; I find it hard to find the middle ground in maintenance. I’ll take all those ideas on board. Thanks so much!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Definitely finding a fitness activity I enjoy is essential. I’m currently doing a trial at some different gyms as I know classes are my thing so I want to find one I really enjoy. Yes I think this kind of thing might really help. I have a meditation app I use for sleep and I just checked and…

I found this on their website: Fruit and most vegetables are ZeroPoint™ foods when you eat them. But once they become part of a smoothie, the experience of eating them changes. Research shows that liquids don’t promote the same feeling of fullness as solid foods do. When you drink something, it eliminates the act of…

Thanks for that Mike! WW actually has a section in Their ‘create a recipe’ part of the app that asks if the recipe is consumed as a drink. If you say yes it adds points. So I put in The weight of the fruit, created my smoothie as a recipe, clicked that it’s a drink, and it’s 4 points more than if not. That just doesn’t…

Absolutely! It’s free and has such a greater data base of foods. And with this huge community it’s a brilliant resource.

I joined WW 3 months ago after being on and off MFP for a couple of years and yo-yoing with my weight (more of a mindset thing). I thought perhaps the weigh in’s and meetings might help me stay on track better and help with mindset. I hate the WW app though. It’s so hard to track.
-
Hi I’m the same. I joined WW for the check in and meetings as I felt that may add a bit of extra support, but I really don’t like the app or the tracking for WW. MFP is so much better. Good luck on your journey!

Once you get back into the right mind set it just seems crazy that you let it all go. I’ve been back into it for 10 days and lost 2kgs. I actually enjoy logging. Let’s go everyone, we’ve got this!!
-
This is me! My main goal this time is maintenance. I know I can lose, once I’m there I have to focus on maintaining and not sure of the best way to do that for me yet.

I’ve been using the Drink water app for the past week. It alerts me at the interval I choose (I chose 30 mins), calculates how much water you need each day based on weight, and divides to get how much you should drink each interval. I’ve been averaging 3 L a day since. It’s been great!

I’m with you all! In 2017 I lost 22 lbs and have since gained ALL OF IT back ☹️. I had been in such a great head space and felt so happy about the loss that I dropped the ball and stopped logging and weighing. I went on holiday and ate. I did keep exercising but as others have said that’s not enough. Then things got…

I'm so confused about which to go for. I really like that Garmin is waterproof, easier to see in daylight, stays on all the time. I'm not sure if the bulkiness would bother me. I'll need to go and try one on. It sounds as though the technical issues I had were specifically to do with the initial version of vivosmart and…

How would it be considered pointless? It depends on the goal? If the goal is to exercise regularly and the OP enjoys mixing it up, then is that pointless? There doesn't always have to be a specific fitness goal other than losing weight or wxweomore often. OP I do 1 long walk, 1 cycle, 1 zumba, 2 circuit classes (that are…

I love going to the gym but that's because I love classes. I used to just do workout DVD's at home but didn't enjoy it as much as going to classes. Everyone has their thing. It sounds like home workouts will suit you better for what you like to do.

I second drinking wine

I love Zumba too! I have an awesome Zumba class. I also love my circuit classes.
-
I love doing classes as that motivates me more, and I get bored easily just by myself on the machines. I do 2 circuit classes, 1 Zumba, 1 pilates and 1 total body conditioning (mix of cardio, strength and abs). I love my classes!!

The figures you've all given (950 for 11000 steps etc) what are they on top of? Your BMR or what MFP sets as a sedentary TDEE? My vivofit gives me a total daily burn of 1800 for 10000 steps. I'm wondering how accurate that would be.
-
No responses so no ideas. A more specific question - would a calorie burn of 1800 a day be accurate for 10000 steps?

I've lost weight even having a few binge nights over the past 15 weeks, including 2 trips away where I drank half a bottle for 4 nights in a row. I just count it in my overall week and cut back on other days. I couldn't do it if I couldn't have my wine.

I moved from Australia to London just over 12 months ago and gained 6kgs in 6 months. I've now lost all of that plus 3 kgs more, but I'd still like to lose another 5kgs. It's kind of like putting on the weight spurred me into a mindset where I wanted to make a life change to be healthier.
