So just as I get better with my foot, I get diagnosed with high blood pressure and insulin resistance. I have been battling with side effects from the medication. Luckily it seems to be improving and I was able to train on Saturday. Bonus, my youngest decided to start up karate again! I am thrilled!

Guess who's back
-
A high for me is that a 10th Dan is coming from Japan to train with us at the beginning of December. I have been looking forward to this all year. The low is that after my broken toe, I have missed so much training and I have got so unfit. I'm afraid I will embarrass my dojo and my sensei
-
So I partially tore my Achilles tendon attachment. I don't know when I will be able to get back to training
-
I've decided to rather focus on testing next year. That way I can build up my fitness and my confidence
-
That's great! Yeah, it seems life gets in the way of posting in here. I have been added to the black belt candidate 2023 WhatsApp group for my karate. It seems my sensei thinks it's time for me to get my second dan. I don't think I am ready! Plus I don't know if I will have the time to put in what I need to. Not to mention…

So karate is back into the swing of the new year. We had our first class on Saturday and it was a black and brown belt class
-
I have also been scarce here, I'm sorry. I have been going to Saturday classes regularly and I managed to attend a Tuesday evening class once
-
On Saturday my phone died and so my alarm didn't go off. I woke up 5 minutes after I should have left. I have been keeping up with the Sunday walks though. This Sunday we walked 3km and it nearly killed my boyfriend! I don't think he will go that route again any time soon
-
Oh my word! That is hectic. I am glad you are out of isolation now. I hope you don't have any long term symptoms. Saturday was another kumite basics class (we have a lot to catch up on and some students joined during the pandemic and so have never done any kumite). Sunday we went for another walk
-
That's a good idea. I had to skip Saturday karate the week before last because of work. But this past Saturday I managed to go. We are catching up on kumite since we couldn't do much partner work through the pandemic. I have started walking with my boyfriend on Saturdays and Sundays. He had an operation on his toe and is…

Yeah, it would feel like cheating to restore it. What's the point of a streak if it is a lie? Anyway, I haven't been logging my food and exercise for all of that streak anyway. Seems a good time for a reset and a new start
-
Oh no! I hope you feel better soon! Our covid restrictions have been entirely lifted and so we could train without masks for the first time in over 2 years! What a great session! We also did kumite drills and partner work, which has been scarce over the pandemic
-
I did do my Saturday class, but I have been so busy lately I haven't been on the community (and I lost my 1709 day log in streak)
-
Saturday was class. I learned some new supplemental katas. Kind of. The one I had learned in my previous style about 20 years ago, so it was just reminding my muscles what to do. The other one we learned about a year or two ago and so I just had to remember that too.

I did my Saturday morning class
-
We trained at our new dojo today (Saturday)! It was so awesome! It is a narrow dojo, but it has an incredible view of the sunrise!
-
I had to miss my pilates with my friend on Wednesday because of work. But I am really seeing a difference, just with once a week, in my flexibility
-
I did karate on Saturday. We are back to my favorites - kata! It was our last session in the old dojo. We have a new dojo from now on and it is closer to where I live!
-
Hi Tricia! I am divorced 5 years now. I know exactly how you feel
-
I did pilates today (Wednesday). I had to skip class on Saturday because I had been in contact with someone who tested positive for Covid
-
Monday I went for a walk with my friend. Tuesday I went for a slow short walk with my mom Wednesday I am going for another walk with my friend instead of pilates because we both were potentially exposed to Covid and so we will exercise outside with masks on instead of inside
-
I did my Friday pilates and Saturday karate class. At karate we did kumite drills. Not my favourite, but it was still a good class
-
At least I know you didn't catch it from me! I am nearly fully recovered and am planning on a pilates class tomorrow and then my Saturday class as usual
-
So today I am definitely sick. No denying it. I have to miss the gashuku
-
We have a gashuku this weekend, which I have paid for. But now my boys have been sick and I am feeling very drained and have a splitting headache. I should not put everyone at risk (although it is an outdoor gashuku). But I really want to go!
-
I have let everything other than my Saturday classes go out the window. But today I am doing pilates with a friend. Easter weekend and the dojo is closed so I can do a parkrun for a change maybe. Unless my ex's dojo is open, then I may visit there and do some style comparisons
-
Good luck for next week! Or this week I had my Saturday class and we've been working on kata quite a bit. Our dojo is moving, so the place is slowly emptying of equipment.
-
I've been super busy. I got a third job (all of them part time and working mostly from home) and I also have an exam coming up. I haven't been in the community for a while. But I have at least kept up with my Saturday classes
-
I did some pilates on Wednesday and Saturday was my normal class
