When I first started jogging I was terrible, I could barely run for a bus. I started using the elliptical trainer in the gym which strengthened my legs and built endurance. I have mild asthma. One day I found I could jog for 10 minutes without stopping. 2 years later and I'm doing 5k park runs every week!

Thank you, the treadmill I use just has levels that goes up to 20 and then another reading on there is average pace. I've just got into outside running so still finding a steady pace that I'm comfortable with for 3 mile runs. Sometimes I go too fast and lose energy quickly. I'm new to Strava and have now changed the…

Do I cancel the dentist (for the 2nd time) and just go to the gym instead.
-
I had a trial of amazon music, LOVE it for running days. Not cancelling it.

Do you crave sugar? This can happen after absense of alcohol. There are lots of healthy sugar recipes to try containing fruit. Blueberries are a good snack.

I like running because I can just switch off and listen to my music and it's very mood lifting. I have mild asthma which has improved since running. I do gym workouts during the week and run weekends. My bmi is 19 so I don't worry about weight and eat healthy most of the time.

Also this is my 2nd fitbit HR that's 6 months old. My first one got the bar of death and the manufacturer kindly sent me the one I have now for free.

I have the same mindset as all above, I just discovered running outdoors at my local national park. Turning 5k into a 10k I also look forward to warm clothes and fluffy socks. Also when it gets really cold you will find me in the gym.

I'm very slim build and 5'3.5 (1 + twin pregnancy) I have a gap between my belly button, not major but it still bothers me. Body weight excersises and light/medium weight training helps keep abs stronger and toned. When I don't do it I really notice a change in midsection 🙈

Nothing wrong with testing yourself. Sometimes I do double classes. If you have the energy you will be fine!
-
Same boat here, I've been doing 5k for a while. Going to concentrate on breathing technique and see if that helps.

I'll eat lost any fruit and veg. Also I keep dried cranberries and add them to breakfasts. Bits of lemon or lime in water too.

When I first starting using my food scale I discovered that a 75g of dry pasta looks miniscule. I must have been eating twice that amount before tracking. 😳 and don't get me started on peanut butter!
-
I lost an inch off my thighs by changing my excersises from elliptical to excersise bike in no time at all. Everyone's different.

I do HIIT workouts or circuits early in the morning, food makes me feel sluggish or I get a pain in my side. A good mug of coffee and 1 or 2 small Haribo sweets gives me a boost. Works for me.

You can buy low carb pasta in places like health food shops. Some are made with edamame beans for example.

I stick to 800 - 900 calories during the day everyday then eat the rest at dinner time. It's worked for me for years.

To keep your metabolism healthy keep eating a healthy diet and regular excersise. Oh and have patience and trust mfp. I lost all the weight I want to lose, been maintaining for about a year.

I'm 41, my weight has only ever fluctuated by a stone. I'm slim but find it harder to keep it off than when I was 20s/30s. I need to watch my sugar intake and I do a shed load of excersise. Battling the middle age spread.

Fage total 0% strained Greek yogurt.

I do casserole type dishes alot, weight everything, log the total calories and then subtract by how many people are eating it.

Cutting out junk is great. If you're breastfeeding I would carry on what you're doing and not worry too much about tracking. You need carbs and fats in your diet, keep it balanced and also hydrated I breastfed twins and craved sweet stuff, calcium rich foods and drank lots of fluids. Never gained an ounce.

Thank you for all of your replies, I do appreciate the advice. Tomorrow I'm doing a quick toning session in the gym, nothing too strenuous and then I will try the 5k. I will concentrate on pace and breathing. My problem is my breathing gets heavier once I'm getting tired. My legs are fine, it's my lungs telling me to slow…

5'3.5, age 41, 105lbs active lifestyle maintaining on about 1800

Thanks, I do HIIT training and strength training 5 days a week. I thought this would help with endurance. I've only had time to run once a week but I need to switch things around.

I get horrendous cramp in my feet and upper abs through trial and error I found I wasn't having enough salt in my diet, i prepair all meals from scratch and don't add salt to anything. Also took a soluble supplement for a while which helped.

I've tested this on my fitbit, one reading was 28 calories in 6 minutes, another quick trampoline session was 46 calories in 10 minutes. I'm 5'3 and quite light. Burn also depends what you're doing on it lol.

Anything that gets your heart rate up, cycling, running, rowing, free weights, kettlebells...
-
I agree, kettlebells!

I'm 41 and it's been a similar story. How do you want to kick start, are you starting any specific plan? I started tracking weight and excersise over 2 years ago, if I didn't have mfp and the gym I would be stuck!
