I wrote my thoughts on MFP groups in a community page. Turns out this new "activities" thing is a stalking horse for getting rid of the newsfeed feature

  • Neighborhood 1Mile (at 15"38 ). Day 5.
  • Neighborhood 1Mile (at 16"33 ). I am feeling more relaxed. Thanks everyone for the kind words.
  • Got in my 1Mile (at 17"07 ). streaking at day 3
  • That is fantastic - "feeling great." And, you are just about to catch me. I do want you to get to a healthy fit weight, and I don't want to be passed on the way there....I have to get crackin' You really are doing great.
  • GW: 144.7 lbs Weigh In Info - May 3, 2024 Last: 239.0 lbs TW: 240.9 lbs Variance: +1.9 lbs I was on the road driving my car for five days. Fast food (thanks Lynch, I did revert to getting a burrito supreme) Going out to restaurants with family and friends. I had one homemade meal, a friend made blueberry pancakes. The gain…
  • Got in my 1Mile (at 18"59). A two day streak. I felt more comfortable.
  • After a couple of months back what has been changing? What do you want for the next few months on MFP?
  • Got in 1Miles (at 20"31). Today was a struggle! Channeling the great @tarun_yadavA
  • Some detail is missing. If there is a 'discussion thread' in one of the categories, like "challenges." then you will leave the old entry in there, and just add new comment on the end. If you are talking about your own weigh report in MFP. That will just be adding on. Maybe it is something else. Please write a little bit…
  • May Running Goal: 28 runs, 32 miles 2.3 lbs. March & April weight loss (243.5 lbs -> 241.2 lbs) I'm Chris; I live in San Diego, California. I am still very much needing to work on obesity. Things that have worked and I like are food tracking, Iyengar yoga, and running. I started a medication for obesity, Qsymia, three…
  • A suggestion. "My goal for May is to have no running goal. I will fight every urge I have to "push it a little" and after getting up to fifteen minutes of walking around or moving around I'll make myself stop. And, on June 1, 2024, I I'll post an audacious and wonderful running goal for that month." Be well...
  • Is this a safe space to joke about Irish cooking? All jokes aside (and shame on you for whichever joke about Irish cooking popped into your head) living life large and enjoying these nice opportunities is certainly one of the foundations for doing the disciplined, rigorous other parts of life. I hope ya'll had a swell time…
  • Have we ever interacted @SafariGalNYC? What vibe have you felt, and how much of what you felt was mostly likely rooted in me and what I wrote, or you and how you allowed yourself to react to something I wrote?
  • Great question. My intention...that doesn't mean much. My honest self-reflection, that's a good hard place to start. The observation of other? I can be obtuse and awkward, and I know that can be off-putting to readers. I can be angry and petty. I try and try and try, to be better at reacting when I feel this way. (or to…
  • Good news bad news. Bad news: Yes, you should carefully weigh, measure, and track each individual item. The good news, it gets much easier with practice, and some of the tools you pickup in MFP will help save time.
  • Write out your next short-term goal here. Then check in here consistently. Others will be going through the same things. Some will have already succeeded, others will be dealing with setbacks. Getting a like minded community is powerful.
  • A long time ago I signed up for a triathlon. Everything changed, mostly for the better, but I didn't race. I decided to go to the race just to get jazzed up. The race used to be called Wildflower, it has been reborn and rechristened, but it's at the same place and same time of year. Just a beautiful mountain course, a…
  • I'm sorry to hear this. I dodged it for close to three years. My first airplane ride after covid began did me in. Everyone's ride is different. I was 100% clear I wasn't back to normal for three weeks (not bad, just not 100%) And I had infrequent coughs for another two months. Overall not bad, and I am certain I preferred…
  • I've had nearly an identical yoyo around the COVID times.. Can you imagine running again as part of a happy healthy approach to getting to a more healthy weight?
  • I got a new house last year, and I think Ang mentioned something too. So I can cry big crocodile tears for all the home projects you have to do...but I'll tell ya, I'm generally pretty happy to NOT be paying the landlord rent each month. :) Just poking Lynch, looks like you do as much or more than most. Good. My first job…
  • That's sounds like a very solid plan. Sticking with it, even when it isn't fun, is where the gold lies.
  • Hello, There is an MFP weekly weigh in group. There are about ten consistent people, we keep checking in with each other, and it helps stay on track. https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/118368-weekly-weigh-in-group
  • I miss the scanner too. You go! Sounds like you are getting close. That's exciting.
  • Happy Earth Day, I'll go first. GW: 144.7 lbs Weigh In Info - Apr 22, 2024 Last: 238.8 lbs TW: 239.0 lbs Variance: +0.2 lbs I'm sticking with food logging in MFP. Most days I come in around 2000 kcals, under that is a bonus. The trend in my weight is creeping downward, that's the plan. Rita (@bootilicious)…
  • I've been here for awhile. Originally the UPS scan was available to everyone for free and I used it a lot. Then MFP made it 'premium only.' That was unfortunate. I had made peace with not having the label scanner. Last month, I decided to try the free 30-days of premium. I gave them my financial info, and set a reminder to…

  • Great job, and a nice race report. Looks like a fun race.
  • Yes. Kind of like your neighbor we just wave at each other. So I'll send all the positive thoughts I can to your mother, and you. This sounds tough.
  • Interesting question. An element might be cultural. Someone back me up here, but I think in the US over the last decade many of the larger runs are majority women. That doesn't necessarily address your point. In Ultras, Century rides, longer events, perhaps they are still out of wack in gender-balance here too.
  • GW: 144.7 lbs Weigh In Info - Apr 17, 2024 Last: 239.1 lbs TW: 238.8 lbs Variance: 0.3 lbs I'm sticking with food logging. For me it becomes a normal routine. Once I stop logging, I imagine it is a big burden and I can't do it anymore. It really becomes a small habit, and doesn't hurt. I know how to lose weight, often…
  • Very nice, it seems you plateaued for a minute and now you are back on a trend. That's a good number too being in the 15x.x lbs range.
