I'm back...4 months between posts/weigh-ins, etc., and wait for it....Surprise, I gained weight!!! Quarantine 15+. Haven't been able to walk or workout due to operations on both feet. Should be back in shoes next Monday so fingers crossed. Thought I'd start tracking calories again as that seems to work really well for me.…

Hi all, 62 yr old male from WV. Would be happy to support anyone trying to get healthier. Lost over 30 lbs using MFP, quit posting and gained 17 back! Have lost 6 since I started posting again. I'm retired and very active in physical fitness. Good luck to my fellow "seniors" and please reach out to me if there's anything…

Thanks happysquatter for the very complete and thoughtful response. I've already started with several YouTube videos and have had a session with a trainer at Planet Fitness. My total focus now is form, and things seem to be going well.

Oh, sorry...didn't realize that was the protocol. thanks and I'll figure this out sooner or later!

I'm a young 62 yrs old, and a newer weightlifter. My current split is as follows: Tuesday - Chest, Shoulders, Triceps Wednesday - Aerobics Thursday - Legs, back, biceps Thursday - Aerobics Friday - off Saturday - start routine over so that in one week I hit Chest... twice, the next week Legs... twice. I also walk the dog…

Great post! Thank you!!!

Because I eat the extra calories "earned" from exercise, I usually have 100 - 200 calories of my daily limit (1720 without exercise) "left on the table" (pun intended...LOL). Being newer at this, I do have a question that I'd appreciate some help with...I've lost 20 lbs so far using MFP (avg. 1.4 lb p/wk); so do I have to…

@myluvzs6629 - 200 is just a number, and you don't EVER need to define yourself by a number. Being discouraged is natural as we are all in the "right now" generation. Please don't give up as the health benefits of what your doing "outweigh" (pun intended) any number that you may see on a scale. Continue working out and…

I wasn't thinking of doing much different other than portion control. I'll prolly take some of the advice on this page, like regular sweet potato rather than sweet marshmallow sweet potato casserole. Thanks @Lounmoun for the resources.

No expert here, but just don't stop trying. I've learned that weight loss is not linear, and that other things (hormones, stress, etc.) can have an adverse effect on the numbers. I can tell you that it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach any goal by quitting. A whole lot of people are pulling for you!!!

I'm type 2, and have been eating way closer to Mediterranean than Keto, just found out today that my A1C dropped form 7 to 6.2. Good luck with whatever you choose.

YouTube HASFIT (45 min total body just body weight and 30 min total body w/ dumbells) and walking.

I would appreciate an invite.

Continued good luck on achieving your goals. I've found the YouTube is an excellent resource of workouts of virtually every genre. I've been doing several of the HASFIT workouts with my wife during the week. Hope that this helps.

Mine are either unsalted almonds or Peanut Butter Protein Balls (shout if you'd like the recipe).

Congratulations!!!

Congrats on your success so far!!! Take a moment (or three) to celebrate not only your success, but the journey! Consider replacing "on a diet" with "eating healthier." Measure, measure, measure...I just found out recently how off I was when trying to "eyeball" portions. I prefer weighing to volume measures as my kitchen…

A Hepatitis A outbreak in southern WV and eastern KY has definitely affected how often we eat out. We recently got vaccinated, but now that we're out of the habit of going we just cook at home. Also, since I'm old and grew up in the "clean your plate" generation, I'm just now starting to use strategies like splitting a…
