You're right @quilteryoyo, I think I need to try them a few more times to be certain. They are jelly (jello in the US) blocks that contain Carbs (31g) and Caffeine (68 mg) per block and whilst I'm sure they did help I'm not yet truly convinced. When running an ultra marathon I tend to eat 'real' food such as flapjacks,…

15.5 mile trail run today, with an average pace of 10:55 min per mile and 2,081 feet of elevation. Testing out some new Clif Energy bloks to fuel an ultra I have in a few weeks. Took one at 6 miles and another at mile 13 and felt it gave me some energy, but I'm not sure if it was the product or psychological. October…

Short 3.5 mile run whilst waiting for youngest Son to come out of after school club. I'm actually enjoying this 'less is more' malarkey. Running a lot less, due to circumstances out of my control (limited opportunity to run, plus wasn't well a few weeks ago) and I usually run 100+ miles a month but this is the second month…

Easy 5.2 mile run. Legs fely heavy from yesterday's Rebounder workout. October cumulative: 28.3 miles 2,215 feet of elevation

8.1 mile run, average pace of 9:22 min per mile with 570 feet of elevation. October cumulative: 23.1 miles 1,850 feet of Elevation

A cup of tea. My first meal is lunchtime, as I naturally follow 16:8 (have done for a few years).

Agree with @sijomial. You can't 'spot reduce' and the stomach is usually the last place for you to notice a difference. For me, it's definitely being in a calorie deficit that makes me maintain my weight. I exercise daily and even though I run ultra marathons, it's all about diet for me. I don't eliminate any food groups…

Thank you @martaindale, yes, I'm hoping it's just a one-off and I didn't realise that stress can manifest itself in so many different ways. But I feel Ok in myself now.

I'm back! 7 miles easy run, average pace 9:45 min per mile with 658 feet of elevation. Been missing since 2nd October. Collapsed last week and had two seizures within the space of an hour. Hospital advised I'm not to drive for 3 weeks to rule out epilepsy, but my blood work and CT scan all came back Ok. They think it was…

@Scott6255 Fingers crossed your leg holds up for race day. Even if you have a few days of rest, you still be fine for your race as you already have a good base fitness. Not sure if you've changed your shoes, but if your new shoes are causing shin splints, maybe it's best to go back to your old ones until your race is done.

It's just over 6 months since I started my thread. I'm now 118 lbs (8 stone 6 lbs) which is 4 lbs under my original goal weight. I went slightly off track around mid-June and put a few pounds on. Ran an ultra marathon at the beginning of June and just couldn't get back into the swing of things in terms of my diet. But, I'm…

Unsure if I'm going to set myself a goal this month in terms of minutes. Just hoping to be consistent and continue to do planks throughout the month. Today Mixed Planks: 8 x 30 secs Knee press-ups: 3 x 10 reps Sit-ups: 3 x 10 reps October cumulative Planks: 4 minutes

@penguinmama87 Re: running in the dark - I feel the same as you. Not bothered by any animals other than dogs, only because I can never tell how they'll behave. As some go absolutely nuts when they see a runner, but are fine with walkers. One thing which is a bit unnerving about running in the dark, is running trail up the…

First run of October: 8 miles, average pace of 9:46 min per mile and 622 feet of elevation. I'm running a 7 hour timed event on 7th November and hoping to be able to run around 35 miles if I can. Not going to set any goals this month. I'm limited to 2-3 runs a week and just going to concentrate on maintaining a steady even…

Short 3.3 mile run to end the month. Didn't meet my goals but hey ho, these things happen and sometimes life just gets in the way. Well done to everyone and looking forward to 'seeing' you all on the October thread. September Total: 77.5/100 miles 9,821/10,000 feet of elevation
-
Oh no @Scott6255 hope you're able to sort it so that your run gets uploaded and counts towards the challenge.
-
5 mile run wearing my Barefoot shoes, no knee problems at all and ran a faster pace than usual. Average pace of 8:57 per min with 265 feet of elevation. I just love the way I run in them as I really concentrate on form, I'm a lot lighter and no heel striking. I think I need to do more runs in them as I feel I get more out…

Well done on meeting your goal @lazycat2018. That's a lot of squats!

Glad that you're cancer free @CarsonSurfs and that is a good pace for 10 miles.

Chia seeds are a good source of fibre. I add a couple of tablespoons of chia seeds to milk and let them soak in the fridge overnight. Chia pudding (as it's also reffered to) has the consistency of semolina/tapioca. You can add fruit or Yogurt to make it like a 'pudding', but I also like to add a teaspoon or two of…

I'm back! After a couple of weeks off from doing isometric exercises, my knee pain has gone. No more knee pain at night and even when running my right knee feels Ok. My conclusion is that it's possible that the non-plank exercises involving bended knees i.e. squats, wall-sits, glute bridges may have been causing my knee…

Same here @martaindale. I can't remember the last time I paid to run a 5k. Like you, I think it's been years. Also, I'm not prepared to pay much money to run a short distance.

Easy 5.2 miles in between finishing work and doing the school run. Average pace 9:38 min per mile. September: 69.1/100 miles 9,266/10,000 feet of elevation

Went to Running Club this evening. I don't get to go very often due to family and work commitments, but it was nice to run with people again. 7 miles, with some 1k sprints thrown in and an average pace of 8:29 min per mile. September: 63.9/100 miles 9,007/10,000 feet of elevation

@quilteryoyo Well done on running your Half Marathon 🎉

Yes you are right, they are paper on the outside but have a plastic coating on the inside. The last few races I have done have been ultra distances and at these they never give out cup/bottles of water as they are cupless events, since you need to carry a minimum amount of fluid, you just top-up at the aid stations. I'm…
