  • I love my Saucony Mirage running shoes. If I'm not mistaken they have a 4mm drop. A previous poster was right about your calves being on fire the first few runs. You'll utilize different muscles because it will change the way you run. I switched to a minimalist shoe and have not regretted it. I also have a pair of Saucony…
  • Most of the meals are already logged in the system. Just do a search usually with her name and the name of the meal.
  • You don't have to buy organic. I've tried a lot of the meals and many of them are delicious. If you can't find it or don't want to buy it organic just buy the regular stuff. The nutrition difference between the two is basically nothing. I would tend toward low-sodium when possible.
  • Loving this thread! I also love the lists... I can relate to many of the items. A few things have surprised me since I started my weight-loss journey: 1) I was not expecting the confidence I would gain from losing weight and having a stronger body. I am with Yoovie and I look forward to opportunities to show off my new…
  • I live in Michigan and I am currently training for a May 10K. With that being said, I tend to train during the winter (snowy/icy) months on a treadmill and squeeze in outdoor runs whenever the weather permits. I run on a treadmill anywhere from a 1% to 2% incline. I don't see much of a difference between running on a…
  • I wasn't using anecdotal evidence. I do have a degree in biology. This particular signal cascade was covered in biochemistry. Caffeine and alcohol are diuretics. However, will you become dehydrated because you counted two cups of coffee as part of your water intake? No. Are you going to suffer long-term health issues…
  • Caffeine is a diuretic. It will cause you to urinate more often as it does pull water from your body and form urine. This is a known fact about biochemistry. Alcohol is also a diuretic. Same effect. I wouldn't suggest counting tea towards since teas usually contain caffeine. Also, carbonated drinks should not be considered…
  • I don't have the problem of gaining weight during a break up. I usually cut back on how much I eat and end up losing weight. However, I have a few ideas that may help and are probably better ways of dealing with a break up than how I handle them. First, don't allow yourself to buy junk food. If the ice cream isn't there,…
  • I've run a 25K in the past and I am currently training for a 10K (looking at increasing my speed this time around). Feel free to add me if you want! Having runner friends is a huge help!
  • I think the same thing when I see my high school pictures. It is amazing how warped one's body image is during that time! I'm glad I am not the only either!
  • I had every intention of posting my stats sooner, but I got a bit busy. Better late than never I guess. Before >>>>>>>After >>>>>>>Difference Total Inches Lost in October = 5.87 inches!! • Confession, this is actually Day 2 of Level 4 for me. I've been cheating on my diet this week, but I have lots to celebrate this week so I'm justifying it that way :). The number on the scale isn't moving hardly at all so I guess with my diet and lack of workouts this week, that's a good thing. I actually have a lot of NSVs…
  • Hello everyone! I have been off the radar for the last few days. I was getting mental stressed with working full time, cooking, grocery shopping, meal planning, and working out. So I took a few days off for a mental break. My apartment was a disaster, the laundry basket was overflowing, I have a grad school application…
  • cmDaffy I hope your arm gets better and that it is just a bad reaction to the vaccination. And Taralee regardless of whether or not you think your sane, mothers have a really tough job. I'm not a mom, but I never cease to be amazed by mothers. :) I'm also interested in what your husband thinks of the JM workouts. I know…
  • Taralee, now that I have read your post, I see how you share my pain. I am always amazed by the moms on here who find the time to work out 5 times a week, eat well, ;lose weight and still manage to maintain some sanity. :) I have conquered L3D2! I had very little motivation when I got home from work today. I desparately…
  • OH MY WORD!! I did not even make through this workout! I had to collapse on the floor several times out of sheer pain. I thought Levels 1 and 2 were bad... those were easy! My quads were killing me. If I can still walk after this week I will be utterly amazed. My only goal this week is to get through the workout without…
  • Week 2 at Level 2 is complete for me! Just in time to shower and get my Michigan State gear on to watch them beat University of Michigan! Amazing job this week ladies we are half way there! I took my Week 2 photos and I believe I can truly say that I can see a small tiny difference. Even if someone else can't see it I know…
  • Day 4 of Level 2 done. One more workout tomorrow and I can cross Week 2 off! It is amazing that we are nearing the halfway point. I am so excited to see all of you consistently doing the workouts and updating with your thoughts. So what keeps me going? I think I've said something like this in an earlier post but part of…
  • Feeling a million times better today than I did yesterday. I'm not sure what was up with yesterday but I ended up not eating lunch because I did not feel well. I also took yesterday off as a rest day because of that. But today is a brand new day and I felt great so I kept my appt with Jillian this afternoon. It was much…
  • Level 2 Day 2 complete! Definitely not as sore after Monday's workout as I was last week after the Level 1 workout. Small victory there! It's also good to see that I am not the only one still struggling with those plank jacks and mountain climbers. If it was just lower body, I think I could handle it. However, my upper…
  • Oh my word! Can we talk about coordination!?!?! I didn't realize I was THAT uncoordinated until doing the Level 2 workout! I think I spent more time with a confused look on my face trying to figure out what my arms and legs were supposed to be doing. On the bright side, I made it through with an appropriate amount of…
  • What a small world cmDaffy! I grew up in Grand Rapids and went to Grand Valley for my bachelors. I have several friends that live in Kalamazoo or went to Western :). I even lived in Minnesota for a little over a year after I graduated from Grand Valley. I worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I used to think winters here…
  • I can officially cross Week 1 of Ripped in 30 off! I have just completed my last Level 1 workout. I noticed some small changes where some of the moves are easier now than they were at the beginning of the week, but nothing astonishing. I am definitely looking forward to a change in the workout routine starting on Monday…
  • Just completed Day 4! I did end up taking yesterday off due to some very sore muscles. I figured I should give my body some time to heal a little. I plan on working out Saturday morning and taking Sunday off before starting Level 2 on Monday! It is crazy to believe that we are already nearing the end of Level 1/Week 1…
  • Day 2 complete! Today was much more difficult than it was yesterday. I wasn't too sore this morning getting out of bed, but I did feel it in my hamstrings. As my day wore on, I noticed different muscles getting sore. It probably didn't help that we are doing a lot of cleaning and moving of large instruments today at work.…
  • My hamstrings are so today as well! Makes me wonder how tomorrow will feel. :)
  • Time for my comments! I completed my workout after work today. Not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. However I was doing JM's 6 Wk. 6 Pack in August so that might explain why Level 1 wasn't too difficult. Although I do expect to be sore tomorrow morning! Didn't have to talk back to JM too often today but I'm…
  • You're not the only one that has reactions. My mother was a big diet coke drinker. She started experiencing numbness in her hands. My uncle mentioned it may be linked to aspartame so she quit drinking diet coke and has not experienced numbness since. As for substitutes, I am not sure. I usually drink just plain water, but…
  • Hello Ladies! I'm in! A friend of mine and I were planning on doing Ripped starting October (the meal plan and all)! I'm planning on doing my workouts after work. I know I will need some motivation with this. I'll make some more comments after I get through the first workout tonight :)
