  • I personally don't use the Apple Watch step counter with MFP, i use workouts instead you get more calories as a reward and it more closely matches MFP's manual entry of exercise. For example when you get up with steps turned off, start an open goal walk as a workout for say 30 mins on the watch. This will write to MFP…
  • I'm one of those that gets massive sugar cravings about 30mins to an hour after consuming a 'diet' drink. I just have the normal one as intended, a treat, whats 130 calories for a can of coke once a week? I remember when i had my first normal coke after years of having the diet version, it was orgasmic, the diet one just…
  • How would i know if its calorie adjustment? It just shows it on the diary as Exercise - Steps . My activity level is set to not very active, and i have not entered any activity today manually.
  • For me i found the key to controlling my self around my trigger foods such as chocolate and cookies was to eat them extremely slowly. Before i was just shovelling them in my mouth very fast and getting a rush of them and i would just keep going until i was sick. I'm fine and satisfied with just the 1 bar now so long as i…
  • Every time i want to eat i ask my self is this feeling coming from my stomach or my mouth? If its from my mouth i ignore it and go drink some water as it means I'm not actually hungry its emotional or confusing thirst for hunger. If its physically from my stomach i know its not an emotional response to say stress or…
  • So at that rate you will have lost over 4 stone in a year. How much are you wanting to lose?
  • I have to avoid them as it makes me have MASSIVE sugar cravings after consuming any 'diet soda' drink, so i just allow my self the normal/real stuff within my calorie allowance its better for me to have 135 calories in 1 can of coke, than 1 calorie in a diet coke then have an uncontrollable binge on biscuits costing me…
  • Its very true, its what all the thin people you know do. The thin people i know have no problem starting a meal and leaving 2/3 of the food on the plate and saying I'm full. Me? I eat until the food has gone, engrained in me from a kid by parents. I did try to kick the habit few years ago, and followed Paul Mckenna's i can…
  • Vegi here too, started body recompisition so needed to increase my protein closer to 170g a day . I started having 1 for breakfast with milk and gets me well on the way to my goal plus it seems to make me not hungry too which is a bonus . So yeah I recommend them .
  • I've recently changed my diet for body recompisition , so most days I would rarely hit 60 or 70 grams of protein , now I'm forcing my self to have close to 160g . Biggest thing I've noticed is I'm just never hungry now . I don't want to eat, how you describe is close to how I could feel some days . So try a few days with a…
  • I only drink real coke now. I have learned if i consume anything diet/zero i get massive sugar cravings a bit after and i just want to eat and eat and eat, or if i have LOTS of it i get blood shot eyes. Plus diet/zero tastes absolutely disgusting. Pop/Soda is suppose to be a treat, so 1 can of 138 calories once a week is…
  • Thanks mantium, looks like I'm better changing direction then. Do i still eat at a deficit when doing resistance training? Any decent articles/guides on the net to follow? Take it i need to look more closely at my protein too then? As i seem to get around 70g a day or 15% of my calories on average.
  • I got up to a 42" waist and 250lbs back in 2011 from doing diet after diet and yoyoing. I decided to do something different and tried Paul Mckennas i can make you thin which was more phycological and tries to get you to be intune with your bodys hunger signals, control emotional hunger, and be more active, so i started…
  • I've still got a spare tyre around my stomach, and I'm a 34" waist. I won't be happy until I'm at least down to 32" waist and the tyre has gone. With my height i think anything below 11 stone would be too low.
  • I don't believe the body has a set weight. I believe its all in our behaviour around food. Those who are 'naturally thin' are very in control around food i've found. They have no issue leaving food on a plate, and have no issue walking past a tasty food item like a cake and ignoring it because they are not hungry. I on the…
  • My local Morrisons sells Tofu, its in the same place as the refrigerated quern stuff (not frozen quorn).
  • 1 hour walk before work , lunch break 30 min walk , 1 hour walk when u get home , eat , another 1 hour walk , I walk the shops everyday for my food , then do another walk late evening for an hour , with mini walks fitted in around that when ever I can .
  • That figure seems high . I aim for 30,000 to 40,000 steps a day . I'm sedentary , I have a desk job and all that walking is walking on purpose for exercise . I'm 6ft 3 male and 33. 30,000 steps give me about 1500 calories extra for the day . So if your getting 1200 of 14000 steps it seems over generous to me .
  • When i use to do diet clubs like weight watchers, slimming world or the latest fad diet i would always regain and get fat again as soon as i stopped following their diets. When i got up to 18 stone i started Paul McKennas 'i can make you thin'. It worked, but its not the fastest at losing weight so i started using MFP to…
  • When we're talking about say 1300 calories a day does it matter if this is net ? I regularly net under that but consume physically over 2000.
  • I try not to, then on the app i go to Nutrition on the Diary page. It tells me how many calories i am net under for the last 7 days, then if say at the weekend and I'm going out i know i have a piggy bank of saved calories so if i do go over that day i don't care i just touch my savings. Works for me and allows me to not…
  • It can be down to just the glycogen levels (carbohydrates) stored in your liver changing amounts. It needs 4 grams of water for every 1 gram of glycogen. This kind of thing happens large scale when people do those silly low carb diets, they basically empty out there carb stores in the liver and obviously all that water…
  • A few things to try then, might try having the smoothie later after work rather than for breakfast. Not sure on the protein powder as my food bill has already shot up having all them berries don't know if i can afford protein powder on top. Think a lot of it is psychological as i don't seem to obsess over food when I'm not…
  • If i have just water or almost just water as my fluids for the day i feel great. If i have Coffee's, Tea and Coke by the time i get to 5PM i feel like crap, and energy drained and just horrible. So to me the benefits are just feeling better.
  • I do lots of walking, i can get up to 1000 extra calories a day just walking when i do 4 hours of it. I've got different routes i take 1 i know currently uses approximately 273 calories and takes an hour. Do that 4 times a day and you feel it.
  • I eat physically just over 2000 a day and normally use up around a 1000 a day in purpose cardio and I'm losing 2-3lbs a week. I have MFP set to 1/2 a lb a week. That way i don't go hungry ever, and the more i do walking the faster i lose.
  • http://funnyasduck.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/funny-woman-big-pizza-diet-coke-pics.jpg makes me giggle. My take on it is, your not suppose to be drinking pop lots, its like chocolate its a treat. If you think you need diet coke then the issue is your drinking to much pop replace it with all your body needs, water.…
  • Yes the scale is changing, dropped from 13st on 1st Jan to 12st 5 lbs on Monday.
  • Yes they work, my ex partner used it everyday for 2 months and it seemed to make a difference. The clue is in the name, 'Slender Tone', he was 6ft and weighed 10 stone, so he was VERY slender and it helped him look more toned in the stomach. They won't do anything related to weight loss , you need to lose weight first to…
  • I don't eat my exercise calories back (but i only have MFP set to 0.5lb loss a week) i use those unused exercise calories for my weekend social life. On average a whole bottle of red wine has about 700 calories, so just do 1 x 30 min walk everyday and thats around 700 calories a week, thats your wine funded!
